Friday Update

I felt a little pain, last night, after I stood at the altar to say my nightly devotions, but, a few minutes of using the heating pad took care of that.  I slept well and had a relatively pain-free day, today.  However, I can't stand or walk for more than a few minutes before it starts to hurt.

I called the pharmacy, this morning, to find out if the doctor had prescribed another anti-viral medication.  Not only had she prescribed it, it was ready for pick up!  It would have been nice if the pharmacy had notified us that it was ready!  No idea if it was filled yesterday or this morning!  Anyway, I am very grateful that the doctor prescribed a different medication, that the insurance approved it, and the pharmacy filled it!  My daughter went to the pharmacy after work and picked it up for me.

In the late afternoon, M came to tend to the garden; I asked him if he could continue to come twice a week for at least the month of June, instead of once a week, and he agreed to do so.  It means not having to worry about watering the garden until I am feeling better.  I'd hate for the fruit trees to die because I am unable to water them!  While I was talking to him, I saw the neighbor's white rabbit hopping around my garden!  I think it has found a second home!

Today, I am grateful for:

- The new prescription was issued and filled without any problems
- Daughter was able to pick it up for me
- M agreeing to tend to the garden twice a week
- Being able to move around a little more
- Phone calls from family and friends

Today's joyful activity was picking a handful of blueberries from the garden!

Plans for the weekend include knitting, reading, and relaxing!

How was your Friday?  What are your plans for the weekend?

  1. I'm glad that your doctor called in your prescription and the insurance approved this one. She probably knows how much you need it and didn't want you waiting until after the holiday. I hope it helps. I noticed our pharmacy used to call and let us know when our prescriptions were ready, now it's hit and miss. Sometimes they call and sometimes they don't. Good service is mostly a thing of the past. Hoping your anti-viral medication helps. Denise

    1. Thank you, Denise. I'm very grateful that the prescription was filled without delay. I know the pharmacy is very busy and their staff are doing the best they can. They could probably get another 10 people to work there and still be busy! I took the first dose today; I hope it does help. Hope all is well with you and you have a lovely weekend. Any plans for the long weekend/Memorial Day?

  2. I guess your body is telling you it's not quite ready to resume full activity. In the meantime, I'm glad that M can come more often.

    1. Thank you, Martha. I, too, hope the medication will help! I took the first dose last night (have to be on it for 7 days). M being able to tend to the garden twice a week will be a big help! As much as my daughter is willing to take on the household tasks for me, I don't want to burden her. I know from experience how difficult it is to work full time, take care of an ailing parent, cook, do housework, etc.

Hope you have a lovely Memorial Day weekend!

  4. I hope the new medication works it's magic and you start to notice an improvement in how you feel.

That's one less thing to worry about if M is able to fit in an extra weekly visit to tend the garden. Finger's crossed that by the end of June things will have improved considerably and you will be well on your way to coping with all the things you love to do.

I hope you and your daughter have a lovely weekend together. xx

    1. Thank you, Eileen. I have started on the new medication; a bit too soon to say if it is helping, however. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can see some improvements in the next couple of days.

Yes, M being able to tend to the garden twice a week for the time being will be a big help. We'll see how things work out after June.

Daughter and I started our weekend with a take out dinner and an online movie, last night. :)

  5. That's great that you can have your prescription already and I hope it makes a real difference for you so that you can get your mobility back. Good idea to ask M for two visits a week. I hope your white bunny is keeping the garden cats entertained!
It is fine again and so outdoor puttering is on the menu and if Sunday is fine we will have our walk to the river.

I'm glad the weather is fine again and hope it continues so you can enjoy being outdoors. Have a lovely weekend, Bushlady.

    1. Thank you, Nil. I'm feeling a little better, today. :)

The bunny is perfectly safe from the cats! They just ignore it!

Did you hear about the cargo ship that caught fire just off Colombo harbor? I heard on the news, today, that debris is washing up on the beaches and polluting the ocean as well as threatening the fishing industry.

I'm having a very relaxed weekend, thank you, Nil. Hope you are having a good weekend, too.

  10. I'm so glad you got your prescription and it's a relief your daughter could collect it straight away. I hope it helps.
Today, Lily and I are going for a walk. I woke early thanks to coughing, but it has eased since I'm no longer lying down. It's going to be a bright sunny day, so I'll be needing my sunscreen. X

  11. Oh good. I'm glad the doctor had phoned in a different medicine for you. I'm hopeful that this will help.
That's good that M can continue to visit an additional day for tending the garden.
Hopefully by July you will be able to handle the watering without any discomfort.
