Is Anyone Else Being Asked...

To prove that they are not a robot?

For the past couple of days, every time I go to post a comment on someone's blog, a little window pops up asking me to prove that I am not a robot.  I have been duly clicking on the box, but, I've noticed that sometimes, my comments don't go through (or, maybe, they are waiting to be approved?)

I am wondering if this is something all the other bloggers have installed on their blogs, or, if Blogger updated something.

I asked my daughter to try posting a comment on my blog to see if she received the same request to prove that she was not a robot, but, she said she didn't get that message.

Do you get the same request to prove you are not a robot when you post a comment on my blog?

Have you been asked to do so when you comment on other blogs?

Or, is it just me and my computer?

  1. I haven't been getting that message. I have seen it before but only on a few blogs, never on yours.

    1. Thanks, Eileen. I guess it is me and my computer, then! :(

    2. Check your settings in Blogger: select 'posts, comments and sharing', and choose "NO" under 'Show word verification'. Remember to save your changes and that should stop it.

    3. I checked, Eileen, but, that reader verification is not turned on (there is an on/off button on my settings). It's one of life's little mysteries, I suppose!

  2. I have noticed that on a lot of blogs and wondered the same thing. I can't remember if it happens on yours. Let me post this comment and I'll come back to let you know.

  3. Yep, it made me click the prove you aren't a robot box. Next time you visit mine let me know if you get the same thing.

    1. Oh, dear! I hope it doesn't deter people from commenting. I checked my settings to make sure I hadn't clicked on anything to change the format and I hadn't.

Yes, when I commented on your weekly meal plan post, this morning, it required me to prove that I wasn't a robot!

    2. I just checked my setting too, nothing changed. It must just be something Blogger is doing. I don't think just clicking the little box will deter people from commenting. It's not nearly as bad as the ones with the pictures you have to click or the old one where you had to type in the letters. I'm going to pay closer attention to see if it's only certain blogs or if it only happens sometimes. It's weird that your daughter and Eileen didn't get the message but I did.

    3. I had to click on the pictures on a couple of them! "click on the boxes with traffic lights" "check all pictures with chimneys", etc.!

  4. The robot thing hasn't popped up for me on your blog, or any others recently.

Can also confirm that your missing comments are not in my email nor in my pending comments section in my blog dashboard. What a shame.

Have your comments on anyone else's blog gone missing too?

    1. Thanks, Lady Ella; I'm glad you weren't required to prove you were not a robot!

Yes, I did notice that one comment I made on someone's blog, yesterday, didn't publish, either. Oh, well, I guess the comments are somewhere out there in cyberspace! LOL. It's not that I said anything very important, but, I like to leave a comment just to let the blogger know that I had read the post, etc.

  5. It would be a hoop to jump through, but I'd still comment! I'll let you know if I get the request. Celie

  6. No, I didn't get asked that. Just the usual wait for approval. Celie

  7. I usually just ignore it, and my comments still get posted.

    1. Oh, that's good to know! I didn't realize one could skip it! I shall try it when I am next asked to prove I'm not a robot!

  8. I get it on some blogs and some I don't. If you see it on mine let me know.

    1. I saw it on your blog when I posted a comment, this morning. If it happens again, I'll let you know.

  9. Your blog is not asking me that question. When I do see it on other blogs, I just ignore it and write my comment. Many blogs, including mine, do not automatically publish the comment; I read all comments before they appear on my blog, to avoid spam.

    1. Thanks, Terra. I, too, moderate the comments (which is why there is often a lag between the time someone comments and it gets published) to avoid spam. :)

  10. I see it on some blogs. I think it’s done by the owner of the blog to deter spam.

    1. Yes, except, I'm being asked it on every single blog I've been commenting on the past couple of days. It just seemed a bit strange to me. Oh, well. Maybe blogger is trying to tell me something? Like "you are commenting too much!" LOL.

  11. I get this comment occasionally but not very often. I usually ignore it when it shows up on a Blogger site and my comment still goes through.
It enables a quick scan of your previous online activity to prove you are indeed not a robot :)

    1. Thanks, Jules. Maybe I've been commenting a bit too much, lately, and it thinks I'm a robot? :D

  12. Not had this with your blog Bless. I think some people are having problems with auto-bots or whatever they're called, posting comments which are just adverts, and using "captcha" boxes prevents that.

    1. Thank you, Angela. I know some people do require it, but, lately, every single blog I've commented on (including yours) has asked me to verify I'm not a robot! I think it's just me!

  13. How strange! I just posted a reply to your reply on your previous blog and everything worked the same way as usual. We shall see with this one!

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. I'm glad it didn't ask you for additional verifications!

  14. No problem. I hope it gets sorted out for others posting on here and on other blogs. There is only so much time one wants to spend identifying squares with motorcycles or traffic lights!

    1. Thank you so much for checking, again, Bushlady. Late last night, it stopped asking me for verifications, so, hopefully, it was just a glitch. Or, it might be because I've been reading the old posts on another blog and commenting on them - maybe that triggered an alert, somewhere, that I might be a robot! Who knows?
