I almost called in sick on my last day at the office! I hadn't gone to sleep until almost 4:00 a.m. and I didn't feel like waking up at 7:30 a.m. But I couldn't do that on my last day; that would not have been fair.
So, I went to the office and had a very busy day! There were a couple of projects to be completed, after which I provided a status update table on all my projects to my supervisors.
Then, I cleaned out my cubicle. Several people offered to help me take stuff to my car but, I don't keep a lot of personal items at the office, so everything fitted in two tote bags! I gave away a few things, too, including a set of reference books. One colleague asked if I was taking home the wooden shelf/low bench I had been using as a foot rest under my desk; I wasn't planning to take it with me so I gave it to her. Another colleague asked if he could have my wooden coat rack and I said yes.
One of my colleagues (the one who received the foot rest) gave me a jade plant and another (a former supervisor) gave me flowers. I've been told I'll be missed and to come back to visit and maybe go out to lunch. I'll definitely keep in touch.
After I came home, I tidied up the place a little bit and friend M put up the window air conditioner in my room. Later, I picked up my daughter from the airport. Then, dinner and a little conversation. After that, I finished unpicking my mother's blue satin underskirt. She had sewn a fitted waist with darts and a waistband. It was tight on me. I removed the waistband, unpicked the darts and the side seams to let it out and resewed the sides, and made a drawstring waist.

Then, I sewed the fastening hooks on the sari blouse and, because the neckline is wide, I sewed two small straps on the inside, at the shoulders, to hold the bra straps so they won't be seen (the straps are sewn down on one side and has closes with snaps on the other side.

It looks a bit weird on the hanger, because I had to scrunch it up to keep it from falling off the hanger.
Today, I am grateful for:
- A pleasant last day at the office
- A long and satisfying career
- The people I've worked with and the friends I've made among them
- Daughter had a safe flight home
- I finished sewing my blouse and underskirt to wear tomorrow!
How was your Friday?
