No Rain on Sunday

Sunday Afternoon

No rain on Sunday, but, cloudy and overcast.  We have more rain in the forecast for next week, Monday through Wednesday!

I've had a fairly quiet day, today.  I called Aunt C in the early afternoon and she said she's fine.  Later, neighbor T's daughter called, again, with a message about the house, and T called, too, for our Sunday chat.  T said she is having a cold (she sounded all congested) and she shared it with her daughter!  LOL.  My late friend A's younger daughter called, too, to check on me, which I thought was very kind of her.  Neighbor S called later in the evening to say that they are having some guests and could they use my drive way to park one of their cars for a couple of hours as there's no street parking available.  I said, yes, of course.

I had turned the thermostat down to 60F before I went to bed, last night, and kept it at 60F for most of the afternoon.  But, later, I turned it back up to 65F because I felt cold.  I'll turn it back down to 60F when I go to bed.

Brunch was the last of the pasta with sausages, sauce, and green peas.  I had the last piece of cornbread in the evening with a mug of hot cocoa instead of tea.  Dinner was a bowl of my turkey and vegetables soup (there is another serving of soup left for Monday's lunch) followed by saltine crackers with peanut butter topped with a bit of my homemade strawberry jam.  Mandarins and apples for fruit.

Today, I am grateful for:

- A day to dry out between rain storms
- Phone chats with family and friends
- Having the heater on
- Leftovers and planned overs for meals
- Electricity and internet connections

Today's joyful activity was chatting with family and friends.

Tomorrow (Monday) is supposed to be another rainy day.  My plans for tomorrow include the usual Monday housekeeping, meal planning, and maybe some cooking for the week.

How was your Sunday?  What are your plans for Monday?

  1. That is a dark sky and I'm glad you had a respite from all the rain. I'm glad you all check on each other to make sure you are all safe and well. Stay safe and keep warm.

    1. It looked rather atmospheric, didn't it? The sky is an uniform grey, today! It's not raining, right now, but, it rained earlier in the morning and, according to the forecast, it will rain in the afternoon and in the night.
It gives you a sense of being cared about when people check on you, doesn't it? Of course my daughter and I check on each other every day, but, it is nice when family and friends also call. :)
Thank you, Eileen; I have the heater turned up a bit, this morning and I am keeping warm! Hope you are having a lovely day, yourself. Give Tilly a treat from me, please. :)

  3. Glad you get a day to dry out. We have rain forecast for today with temps in the 40s. Sounds like another indoor day for me.

  4. Sounds like a good day. I am hoping we don't lose power today. We have freezing rain followed by heavy snow coming today. Now I am hungry for cornbread (and you ate the last piece-lol). xo Diana

    1. Yes, it was a good day. :) Oh, I hope you don't lose power today! Do you have a way to keep warm if the power goes off? The weather up there sounds cold! Oh, I'm sorry I ate the last piece of cornbread! I'd have saved it for you if I knew you wanted some! :)

  5. I hope you get some sunshine soon. Gloomy weather isn't fun but at least you had a break from the rain on Sunday. It's good to be able to help out a neighbour with parking for visitors.
The wind was rather strong yesterday and we decided not to go for our walk. Today is sunny and it has warmed up from the extreme cold overnight. I am going for a dental cleaning this afternoon.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady; we have rain in the forecast for the next three days. Thursday will be the first sunny day!
I'm glad you are having some sunshine and the temperature has warmed up a bit. I hope your visit to the dentist goes well. Hope you have a safe drive there and back.

  6. Snap! We're supposed to have some rain tomorrow but I don't think it'll be too much. Are you still putting your buckets out to catch the rainwater?

I went to personal training this morning for a very easy session and have just had a restful day at home since. I've been catching up with a few admin bits but that's about all. I need to think about doing some more batch cooking so will start putting together a shopping list tomorrow. xx

    1. Better rain than snow, I suppose. Yes, my buckets are out, catching rainwater! They are actually full to the brim! I wish I had more buckets to collect more of the rain!

Glad you had an easy session at the personal training. I'm sure Amy was thrilled with your gift, too. Hope the rest of your day has gone well and you were able to put together a shopping list. I posted my meal plan for this week, based on what I have on hand, but, I need to put in a grocery order, later this week.

  7. Soup is good in that sort of weather - you make some awesome food.

I chuckled when I read about T sharing her cold with her daughter. I know a few people who are always generous with their germs!

    1. Soup is especially good when the weather is cold, isn't it? Thank you, Lyssa; I enjoy cooking for the most part.

Ha, ha, yes, some people are very generous with their germs, which is why I am keeping my distance from most people, these days! :D

  8. That is a pretty threatening sky. I'm glad you had a chance to dry out but reading through your comments, I see more rain came.
As you said previously, I hope it's a sign of a non-drought year.
I made some hot cocoa the other day too. I haven't had it in ages but there was a lurking can of whipped cream in the fridge from Christmas that needed using up. (it needed something to "hold" it ;)

    1. Yes, that sky did look threatening, didn't it? It did rain afterwards and it rained on and off yesterday, too. More rain in the forecast!
Yay for hot cocoa and whipped cream! I pulled out half a container of whipped topping from the freezer, last night, to have with some apple slices I sauteed in butter and a bit of sugar. Now, of course, I need to find ways to finish the rest of the CoolWhip! :D
