Turkey and Vegetable Soup |
What happened to Thursday? I blinked and the day vanished!
Dancer woke me up in the morning, demanding his breakfast, but, I didn't want to wake up. I told him to eat his kibbles and let me sleep in! He went away and ate some of his kibble, which I keep out for him so he can eat anytime he wants. Then, he came back to my room, stood right by my bed, and threw up! When I complained, he went to the family room and threw up a bit there, too! Dancer! So, of course, I had to get up and clean up everything and he was happy because I gave in and gave him his wet food! Such a spoilt kitty!
I had turned off the heater before I went to bed, last night, and while I felt nice and warm under all my quilts, the house felt cold when I woke up. So, I turned the heater on and sat in front of it, most of the day! I felt quite unmotivated to do anything, today. I started a new knitting project, but, ended up unpicking the whole thing! I just wasn't in the mood to knit, I guess.
So, I just did little bits of housework, read blogs, watched online videos, watched the news, chatted on the phone with friend R, exchanged emails with a friend, and spoke on the phone with my daughter. She had gone on a hike with her friend in the morning, then, visited Waikiki Beach in the afternoon, and attended the wedding rehearsal in the evening, followed by dinner and karaoke! Tomorrow, she and the other bridesmaids will hold their bachelorette party for their friend; apparently, they have organized various activities to do as a group.
I had leftover milkrice and seeni sambol for breakfast. Lunch was a bowl of the turkey and vegetables soup I had made as I wanted something to warm me up. Dinner was leftovers, too: rice, salmon, green beans, potato, and some peach chutney (although that was not a leftover, as I opened a new jar of chutney; it is my last jar of peach chutney, I think).
Today, I am grateful for:
- Dancer is fine even though he threw up in the morning
- Daughter is enjoying her time in Hawaii and being with her friend
- Being able to take it easy on a day when I don't feel like doing much
- Working heaters
- Leftovers!
Today's joyful activity was chatting with my daughter.
Plans for tomorrow include my doctor's appointment in the afternoon and tending to the garden with M in the evening. I might also put gas to the car on the way back from the doctor's office.
How was your Thursday? What are your plans for Friday?
Yes I have that same alarm clock - a throwing up cat! Here it is early Friday morning & Thursday feels like a blur of the past already. Hope you have a good weekend & that all goes well today at the doctor's appointment.
ReplyDeleteI guess it's part and parcel of having a cat! My doctor's appointment went well, thank you. I hope you, too, have a good weekend; keep warm!
DeleteWhen I am cold, I just want to stay bundled up and not do much. Come to think of it, I don't always want to do much when I'm warm, either. :) I think soup might be on the menu for this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI seem to get more accomplished when it is warm! Although, sometimes, when it gets hot, then, I will complain that it is too hot to do anything! :D Soup is especially good on a cold day, isn't it? It seems to warm you up from the inside out. :) Are you, too, getting the "arctic blast" that seems to be spreading north and east?
DeleteAnd that is the reason I don't have a cat! Glad to hear he is okay though. It sounds like you had a lovely restful day after Dancer forced you to get out of bed before you wanted to. Unlike your daughter who seems to be having a busy, but wonderful, time in Hawaii.
ReplyDeleteI hope your doctor's appointment goes well tomorrow and you have a safe drive to and from the surgery. Burger or pizza on the way home? xx
Yes, all part and parcel of having a pet! I did have a very relaxed day yesterday! Today was a little more productive because I had my doctor's appointment; it went well, thank you. Ha, ha, I did consider a burger or pizza on the way home (oh, I'm so predictable, aren't I?), but, resisted the temptation and instead, came home and cooked myself a hamburger! :)
DeleteIt looks like you had a relaxing Thursday.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why, but I kept thinking yesterday was Friday. :)
I was about to join an online meeting and then realize it was actually Thursday.
My joyful activity on Thursday was having string hoppers, lentil curry and pol sambal for breakfast. :)
Maybe you wanted the week to end early? Ooh, what a tasty breakfast! Did you make the string hoppers?
DeleteMy week got out of whack, too, and I thought today was Saturday....lol... Hope your doctor appointment goes well. I have lots of little stuff to do today. Hugs- Diana
ReplyDeleteSeems like everyone is ready for this week to be shortened! LOL. My appointment went well, thank you. I'm home and relaxing now. I hope you have a lovely weekend. :)
DeleteAww I hope Dancer is feeling better now. It's a shame your day turned out like that and I hope you feel better now, some days my get up and go has gone! Sounds lovely to be attending a wedding in Hawaii, I'm sure your daughter will have a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteYes, Dancer is fine; I think he was getting back at me for not getting up and giving him his canned food! :D I think my get up and go was also gone, yesterday! I am just going to say that I needed an off day. Today has been better.
DeleteThank you, Eileen; I think my daughter is enjoying being with her friend. :)
I'm glad Dancer is okay, but too bad he made work for you. Your daughter seems to be having fun with the wedding events. I'm glad you have a heater and warm soup to warm you up. I'm not surprised you didn't feel overly ambitious.
ReplyDeleteThe temperature didn't drop quite as much as anticipated last night, only -13°F at the coldest. I woke twice and went down and made up the fire in the wood furnace. DH slept like a log but awareness of the cold outside and the howling wind, seemed to get through to me and wake me!
Thank you, Bushlady; Dancer is fine. He just thinks that he should be fed the wet food on demand! I spoilt him when he was feeling a bit under the weather and not meowing a couple of weeks ago - now I have to retrain him to getting fed wet food twice a day. Currently, he's being fed at least 3 times a day!
DeleteIf anyone has a reason to feel cold, it is you, with those temperatures! I shouldn't complain about the cold! Our night time lows are in the mid 40s F!
Your soup looks great! Sorry Dancer not only ruined your lie-in but also created extra housework for you.
ReplyDeleteElla
Thank you, Lady Ella. Dancer was getting back at me for not jumping to wait on him on demand! "You want me to eat dry food? I'll show you what I think of the dry food!" :D
DeleteHi Bless, It sure has been cold. Hope Dancer is feeling better now. Pets do make messes sometimes, but they are such good company. Thursday was nice. I enjoyed spending some time in the sunshine again. Today I have been doing laundry and paying bills. The dogs and I took a lovely bike ride this morning.
ReplyDeleteHi Stephenie; yes, Dancer is feeling better, now, thank you. He's starting to get old, so, although I grumble a bit, I realize he can't help making messes. He is much loved and indulged. :)
DeleteSounds like you are enjoying your days and being out in nature. Enjoy the sunshine; I hear that there's more rain in the forecast for this weekend!
Sometimes we just need a day to relax and rest our mind and body. You have certainly earned it! Good to hear your daughter is having a good time.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Celie. I need to be patient with myself on those days when I don't feel like doing much and not beat myself about it. :) Today was a more productive day. :)
DeleteOh no, poor Dancer! Poor you. What a way to start the day! There always seems to be days like this don't there? Tomorrow is a new day, a new start.
ReplyDeleteI think Dancer was trying to show me what he thought of being told to eat his kibble instead of being served his wet food (salmon pate, to be exact), but, he's fine and everything cleaned up without too much difficulty. Each day is a new start and that's what's so nice about it. :)
DeleteIt's good to have a lazy day. You've been tending to your house and garden very well so kick back and take it easy when you feel inclined to do so.
ReplyDeleteYour daughter's trip sounds like it is a lot of fun. Just saying she is at Waikiki Beach sounds so wonderful. lol
I'm glad Dancer bounced back and is fine.
Thank you, Debra; sometimes, I just need to take a day to relax. I've decided to call them "mini vacations"! After all, I'm retired and isn't that what a retiree is supposed to do? :D
DeleteMy daughter is enjoying her first ever trip to Hawaii. I'm glad she's getting an opportunity to travel a bit.
Dancer is doing well, but, now he wants to be fed every 2 hours or so! :D
