Wednesday

Front of Shelf Unit

Side View

My daughter has finished "papering" her shelving unit.  She only had a small amount of white acrylic paint, which wouldn't have been enough to cover the cardboard, so she used printer paper to paper the sides and top of her shelving unit and to cover the raw edges of the front.  She is going to leave the insides of the boxes as they are.  She is not sure if she will decorate the sides and the top of the unit (maybe paint some anime characters or some cherry blossoms), but, for now, the unit is done!

Today has been another warm day.  Hot enough for me to turn on the ceiling fan in the family room in the afternoon!

Today's big achievement was unpacking and putting away all the recent grocery and household supplies deliveries!  I also changed the sofa cover sheets and did a load of laundry.  Everything was hung up to dry; I will put them away before I go to bed.  I also did a load of dishes which need to be put away, too.

Cousin V called while I was doing dishes.  She said that after seeing me online at yesterday's prayer gathering, they were trying to decide if I had got bored with staying at home and colored my hair!  LOL.  My family, who all color their hair, can't get over the fact that I refuse to color my hair and have been at me to color it for at least the past 15 years!  I am fine with going grey, naturally.  Showing my age doesn't bother me at all!  But, when my hair grew back after the cancer treatments, it grew back with less grey in it than before!  So, I guess, on the computer screen, my hair appeared even darker?

Today, I am grateful for:
- Video chatting with my daughter
- Working appliances (washing machine, dishwasher, fans, etc.)
- Being able to stock up my pantry
- Chatting with cousin V
- Being alive

My joyful activity today was knitting.

Thursday's To Do List:
- Water the garden
- Water the indoor plants
- Sew masks
- Paperwork

How was your Wednesday?  What are your plans for Thursday?

  1. I foolishly tried to put a Virtual Background on my screen, just before our prayer gathering started. It didn't work properly - so instead of looking like I was standing in front of lush green grass, some out it appeared to go up my nose, and some was in my mouth. Nobody seemed to mind. Today I'm meeting a good friend and we will walk round the field 2metres apart and chat.

    1. I'm sure the virtual background worked just fine, Angela. :) I'm glad you are able to meet with your friend and chat, while keeping the proper distance. Have a lovely day.

  2. It was hot enough to need the fan on here yesterday and it'll be the same today, though I think you'd call it cool ... it's 23°C at the moment.

It's too hot for me to be outside which is just as well because someone is flying a drone too low over the gardens and generally being a nuisance. Whoever is flying it so low is breaking the law and the police are knocking on doors asking for information, so that has been today's excitement!

I'm just having a restful day. I feel a bit better but didn't sleep too well (too hot!) so will need s couple of naps to get through the day, and in between I will carry on with my book.

Hope you have a good day Bless.

    1. Well, yes, 23C (73F, according to the handy-dandy online converter), would be what I'd consider to be cool, but, I can see how it would feel hot to you. :) I'm sorry you didn't sleep too well, last night, but, hope you can nap during the day, today. A restful day sounds good. Take care, Eileen. :)

  3. Your daughter is quite crafty. Yes hair colouring is the big complaint from many women & it cannot be found anywhere right now, I think the stylist are all going to be very busy for the first few months of back to work. I've used this lock down time to let my hair return to a natural state, I'm not going to fight it anymore (lol), OK maybe a few highlights to help with the natural shading return!

    1. Thank you, Patio Postcards; she is now talking about making a shoe rack with some of her other boxes! :D

I'm sure the natural state of your hair is quite nice, but, you'll be the one to decide if you like it like that or if it needs a little help. :)

  4. First of all, please tell Bushlady that we appreciate her kindness- thoughts and prayers for my sweet Whitney are easing her journey which is now coming very close to its end- her time in this place is almost over, and she remains utterly serene and painfree- there is no longer any kind of communication and her breathing has slowed ... it is maybe only a day or perhaps hours until she moves to another life- I am privileged to be her mother-
Sorry for gloom ... we will persevere ... there really isn't a 'plan b' for doing otherwise- will keep you updated though-
Fondest wishes to you and yours-
    Barb

    1. Comment to my readers - Barb emailed me this morning, to say that moments after she sent her comment, her daughter Whitney passed away. Rest in peace, Whitney.

  5. Hair is an interesting thing. I know three different people whose hair came back after a loss as either different color or curly from previously straight. I guess I now know four with your story. :)

    1. When my hair started to come back, it was quite curly and people were surprised, but, I had curly hair as a child. Then, it became more wavy than curly, as it grew out, which is what I had before, too. I don't mind. I'm just grateful it grew back!

  6. Shelf unit looks great. 😊

I too plan not to color my hair when turns grey. 😊

    1. Thank you, Nil. :)

Coloring ones hair should be a personal decision, based on how one feels. My mother colored her hair, but, I decided it wasn't something I wanted to do. I keep threatening to wear a purple wig to the next family gathering, though! :D

  8. I read Barb's comment. It has been a privilege to pray for Whitney and the family. Somehow her name just came to me over and over, and I am thankful that her passing was peaceful.

I like the improvised shelves. They should be a great help in organizing your daughter's apartment. I just love organizing stuff!

A friend of mine had a kidney transplant after years of dialysis and her hair then became much more luxurious! My own hair puzzles me as I bleached it for several years before I allowed it to grow into natural grey, but I see that there are non-grey hairs that are almost black and I don't remember being all that dark haired when I was young!
By the way, I have a curly blue wig that I once wore for Halloween. I'd look great with curls, but not blue ones!

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. I, too, am thankful to hear that Whitney's passing was peaceful.

My daughter is now talking about making a shoe organizer! Currently, she leaves her shoes on a small door mat, near her front door - easy to slip on and slip off when she leaves and enters her apartment. But, they don't always stay in position, especially her boots, so, she is thinking of making a custom designed shoe rack! :D

It's interesting to see how hair changes, isn't it? Too funny about the blue curls! I think you should take a picture of yourself in that wig and send to your granddaughter, asking her if she likes your new look! :D

  9. I would definitely consider putting all the shopping away as an achievement. Having to clean everything before putting it away is hard work. X

    1. Even more than the cleaning, it was finding room for everything! I had to move things around a bit in different cabinets in order to store all the food in the kitchen. The rest of the stuff (cat food, laundry supplies, etc.) have been put in the spare bedroom for now!

  10. Your hair color story is funny and interesting. My mom's hair changed after her
by-pass heart surgery. Not the color but it got a lot thicker.

Your daughter put the boxes together well and papering them was a good idea. She is a very talented artist so I hope she ends up decorating the with her doodles at least.

Did you get a new delivery? Or did you just put away some things that had been spending a period in quarantine time-out?

    1. That's interesting that your mom's hair grew thicker! I feel that my hair thinned out, quite a bit, but, I'm grateful that it grew back.

Ha, ha, I'll suggest decorating the shelves with her doodles! I don't think she has doodled in some time!

No, I didn't get a new delivery. I just put away stuff that came in last week...I had left them in the boxes for several days, partly for quarantining and partly because I had to make room for them and that seemed like a daunting task to me! I now wish that I had installed drawers or shelves that slide out in the bottom of the deep, floor to ceiling cabinet! Accessing things stored in the back would have been so much easier!
