Resting on Tuesday

A partly sunny, partly cloudy day, today, but, no rain.  Today's high was 64F, according to the forecast.  I only went outside for a couple of minutes in the afternoon to bring in the empty trash cans and collect the mail.

I woke up feeling congested and coughing!  Seems like I've come down with a cold and cough.  At least I fell ill only after the almsgiving was over.

I called my friend T's sister a couple of times to ask how T was doing.  I had thought of going to see her, today, but, didn't want to go due to the cold and cough.  I don't want to expose T to any germs.  When I first called, a little after noon, her sister said that T was in a deep sleep from which they are unable to wake her.  I called again, in the evening, and her sister said that she is awake.  The doctors are worried that she might have a seizure, so they are giving her medications for that.  I guess her recovery isn't quite as straightforward as we had initially hoped.

I spoke with cousins P and V, as well, and passed along the updates on T.

Today, I put away the last load of laundry from yesterday, ironed the napkins and table covers that were used during the almsgiving and put them away, and put the larger rice cooker away.  Then, I handwashed one of my wool sweaters.  I spent the rest of the day, resting.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Friend T is awake, again
- Hot tea
- My new steam iron
- Chatting on the phone with my cousins
- A working heater

Plans for Wednesday depend on how I feel.  Hopefully, I'll be well enough to sew the border on the quilt I am making for my friend.  If not, I plan to knit on my sweater.

How was your Tuesday?  What are your plans for Wednesday?

  2. It may not be a straight road, but T will get there. I remember when my grandmother had a severe stroke and they didn't expect her to live. But she did. It took about a year, but she recovered well. She had a few residual problems, but had a very happy life for years after her stroke, well into her 90's. Sometimes I have to remind myself that nerves repair very slowly.

    1. Good point, Live and Learn. Recovery takes time and there maybe set backs from time to time.

  3. initial path reports after/during Paige's procedure are excellent ... clear margins after very minimal tissue loss- she will know more and have a more definite plan after the 18th, but right now her doctor thinks at most a short (10 days over two weeks) course of radiation to double check things and careful attention to mammograms in the future- we are all delighted ... and Paige is too- she is still 'enjoying' a post-anesthesia hangover but otherwise up and doing well- - now we keep our thoughts with her and Whitney (who is doing well with her chemo now, but who has a much more dire prognosis)- thanks for all the prayers and thoughts ... they were felt and loved-
    fond regards as always-

    1. Barb, that's excellent news! I am so glad! Clear margins, minimal tissue loss, and a very short radiation treatment! No chemo? That's wonderful! Thank you for the update. I will keep both Paige and Whitney in my prayers for continued good health. May you all be well and happy. (((HUGS)))

  4. So sorry you succumbed to the cold and cough, you are wise to keep away from your friend in hospital. I hope you, and she will soon be in much better shape. I'll continue to pray, also for Barb's girls.
Went out for teeth cleaning and the 10 minute drive on the highway was wild with snow and poor visibility and I was thankful that I wasn't heading out on a long trip. The flurries have been just that, intermittent after a beautiful sunny morning, and we have an extra inch of snow. Now we have a lovely, clear moonlit night.
