Friday: Summer in March!

First of all, my daughter says thank you to each and every one of you for the birthday wishes.  She has continued the celebrations today, too, going out to breakfast with one of her friends and then to the beach and an evening out with other friends participating in an escape room adventure.

Today, we had summer!  It was 82F in the afternoon!  But the weekend is supposed to be cooler and there is another rain shower in the forecast for Sunday, so the sunshine and warm temperature was much appreciated, today.

I spent a quiet morning, while daughter went out to breakfast with her friend and, since it was such a lovely day, a spur-of-the-moment trip to the beach!  Later, I went to my doctor's appointment.  The doctor (Physician Assistant, actually) was very pleased with my state of health, today, saying my lungs were clear and it was as if I had a new pair of lungs!  She said she had been very worried about me when she saw me on Tuesday.  I guess I looked and sounded pretty bad!  I told her that the breathing treatment had helped.  So, I guess it was asthma aggravated by the cold/cough and not pneumonia!  LOL.  I still have a bit of the cough lingering, but that is to be expected.  I was told to come back in one month's time for a follow-up, BUT, if there was anything else in the meantime, if the cold returns, if the cough gets worse, etc., I am to call and come in right away!  I promised I would!  I weighed in at 1 lb. less than on Tuesday, but I don't know if that is an actual weight loss or just a fluctuation.

On the way home from the clinic, I stopped to put gas to the car and went to the pharmacy to pick up my medications.  Then, came home and rested a bit.  Daughter was already home from her trip to the beach and showed me a picture of the cat sand sculpture she had made.  I didn't have my glasses on and thought it looked like a frog!  She pretended to be highly indignant, but she says she, too, can see the frog after I pointed it out to her!  LOL.

My gardener friend came over to do the garden today and he trimmed the weeds in the side yard and tidied up the front garden.  We discussed the possibility of making a raised bed or two and planting some vegetables.  He first started working on my garden when I was in hospital having my daughter, which means he's been doing my garden for 24 years, now.  We talked about that, today.

In the evening, daughter went out with friends, again, to participate in an escape room adventure and then, dinner out.  I relaxed at home and called my cousin to wish her for her birthday.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Clear lungs!  No pneumonia, after all!
- A warm, summer-like day!
- Daughter had a fun day with her friends.
- A safe drive to the clinic and back.
- Getting a couple of errands done.

How was your Friday?  What are your weekend plans?

  1. It sounds like your daughter had a wonderful day with her friends. A birthday at the beach sounds perfect. I've heard good things about the escape room experiences but haven't done one myself.
I'm thrilled you got the all clear from your appointment. Thank goodness it wasn't pneumonia. Xx

    1. Thank you, Jules. Yes, I'm very thankful it wasn't pneumonia. Most of daughter's friends are down here, although some will be going to different states to pursue higher education later this year. I think it's going to be a "birthday weekend" for her as she has plans to go out with them, again, today and tomorrow! :)

    1. Thank you, Live and Learn. I am very grateful that it wasn't anything serious. It was just a reminder that I am still on the slope of that mountain. I hope you are having a lovely weekend.

  4. Mmmm have to say I agree with you. It's a frog lol. Glad she had a good day and all went well at the doctor's office. Cold here today - snow yesterday so no sign of summer yet (or even Spring) - but it is supposed to warm up later next week.

    1. Those Midwestern winters go on forever, don't they? When I was in Wisconsin, they used to say they had two seasons: winter and July! I do hope you'll have some warmer weather, soon. Take care.

  6. Sounds like a plus 10 day. So happy for you that you got a good report at the doctor.

LOL on the sand sculpture. I see a frog as well but they are not easy to do and take a fair amount of skill. So pass on "well done" to your daughter and so glad she had fun with her friends.

It was fun to read all the comments yesterday. You do have a very nice group of followers.

Sunshine here but still quite cool. Warmer tomorrow they say.

Now I need to run out to the $ store. Take care.

  7. Oh dear, I'm afraid I can see the frog best, too! ;)

Glad the breathing treatment worked and you don't have pneumonia.

We're having some cool weather here, which is nice. I managed to make my work deadline (self-imposed) rather than dragging it out all day, so had the afternoon to putter around the house. This weekend I'm mostly concentrating on school work, food prep for the upcoming week and working outside in the yard/garden. Hope you have a lovely couple of days off!

    1. I think it's the ears - they are too rounded to be cat ears and look more like frog eyes!

So glad you were able to meet your self-imposed deadline. Sounds like you'll have a busy weekend, but hope you have some time to relax, as well.

  8. Happy belated birthday to your daughter and so good that she had a happy day also. So pleased that your lungs are clear, I have asthma and it does tend to make colds and coughs worst especially if it gets to the chest. Have a happy day. I love the 'frog',lol.

    1. Thank you, Sharon. Yes, I guess the asthma aggravates things and I need to remember that I am not as young and healthy as I used to be. :) Hope you are having a great weekend.

  10. Excellent news about your health. Let's hope what's left of the cough clears up soon.

I can only see a frog as well I'm afraid. But frog or cat I'm highly impressed as I can't even draw a lamp post. Amy gets her drawing skills from Mark.

Ice-cream cake and a trip to the beach. Sounds like your DD has had a lovely birthday weekend. xx

  11. So happy you're feeling better, Bless and that you didn't have pneumonia! Greg's mom thinks she might have pneumonia so I asked him to find out if she might have asthma instead...

Count me in the camp of those who can see the frog but can't see the cat at all. Sorry, Bless's daughter!

    1. Thank you, Nathalie. I hope Greg's mom doesn't have pneumonia! It might be bronchitis, though. Hope she gets herself checked by a doctor to make sure.
