Crocheted Baby Blanket
But first, I needed to make a card to go with it:

Baby Gift Card
I used stencils to draw and cut out the bottle and bib.
Once the card was made and the blanket wrapped in some tissue paper and inserted into a bag, it was time to leave for work. Our staff meeting was a brown bag meeting, scheduled for 12 noon. Towards the end of the meeting, they brought out a cake and we celebrated my retirement. Afterwards, I was given the rest of the cake to bring home!
The blanket was well-received and my immediate supervisor recalled how I had given a blanket when his daughter was born, too. There are several colleagues and former colleagues who've received knitted and crocheted items from me, over the years.
I had a productive day at the office. I am glad I took the opportunity to sort through and declutter much of my stuff prior to the move. All I was left with are one box of files to go into storage and my current project files. Today, I decluttered a bit more. I don't keep a lot of personal items at the office. The few items I do have - a flower pot holding my pens and pencils, an award I received, my name plates (I've two - an old one and a newer one), two small painted wooden boxes that were gifts to me from former colleagues, my coffee mug which was also a gift from a colleague - I will bring home, a few items at a time. Today, I brought home the award and one name plate. I am not quite sure what I'll do with them, except keep them as mementos of my working days!
However, should I decide that retirement is not for me, then, I have had a possible job offer! At my supervisor's suggestion, someone gave me his business card and asked me to give him a call if I feel like working, again! That was totally unexpected!

Flowers from a Friend
When I got home, I found a long brown box on my doorstep! Inside, I found a bouquet of sunflowers! They had been sent by one of my friends to celebrate completing 35 years of service and my retirement! I stuck them in a vase, just to get them in some water; but sunflowers don't need a lot of arranging to look nice. I must remember to put them in the other room and close the door during the night to keep Dancer from getting to them.
I've had a very relaxed evening. The one productive thing I did was give Dancer his flea medicine. And I video chatted with my daughter, of course.
Today, I am grateful for:
- Cake and well wishes at the office
- Flowers from a friend
- A possible job offer, should I decide retirement is not for me!
- A relaxed evening at home
- A cooler day
How was your Wednesday?
