Fall/Autumn Joyful Activities 2025

Fall Decorations (2023)

I have decided to create a list of Fall/Autumn Joyful Activities, after not doing sone for a couple of years.  I think the last one I did was in September 2023.

The goal is to engage in some activities that are fun and joyful to celebrate this season, while keeping in mind that we will continue to have summer-like weather (it went up to 90F, today ) until well into October.

Daughter is making her own list, but, here's the list of activities I came up with:

- Decorate for fall (and Halloween and Thanksgiving)
- Bake some apple-cinnamon, zucchini-nut, and/or corn bread (or all three!)
- Bake a pie
- Make butternut squash soup and/or pumpkin curry
- Plant a fall/cool season garden
- Knit something (a pair of socks, maybe)
- Visit a public garden with daughter
- Celebrate Thanksgiving

What do you think?  Will you join me in making a list of fun activities to do in the fall?

  1. This is s wonderful idea, and I like your list. I'll do one also, though I'll have to think about what to include. There is a sculpture garden not too far away that I've not been to, I will put that on my list.

    1. Thank you, Celie. I didn't want to make the list yet another to do list, but, I want to take time to do something fun. I think a visit to the sculpture garden would be a fun fall activity. :)

  2. There's a lot better chance that we will do something fun if we think about it ahead of time and make a list. Right off the top of my head, I am going to replace the flowers in the flower boxes with pansies. There's not a lot of growing season left, but they do well in colder weather. And my husband and I are going to take a little trip that will hopefully coincide with fall foliage color.

    1. Sounds like you've already started planning some joyful activities this fall, June, with planting the cold tolerant pansies and a trip that might coincide with fall foliage color. :)

  3. I like your list. I already have a fall activity, a friend of DH has invited us to drop in at his cottage in about a week, for his birthday. This involves a drive admiring the fall colours!

    1. That sounds like a fun fall activity, Bushlady, a drive admiring the fall colors and a friend's birthday celebration, as well! :)

  4. I hope you get to enjoy some of your ideas. Even if you do two off your list and two off your daughter's, that will be great. I do hope that at least one of them involves getting out of the house. I would like to see some photos of the botanical garden (think you have mentioned it in past "chats") and you might even find a weather vane there (or on the way!!!) :o)

    1. Thank you, Lady Ella. Yes, I've been talking about going to the botanical gardens for a while, now, and have not been making it a priority. But, this might be the year in which to finally get around to doing a few things on my wish list. :) I was in a different part of the city, the other day, and looked for weather vanes, but, didn't spot any. I haven't gone back to the area where I saw that 2nd weather vane which I didn't photograph at the time.
