The theme set by Eileen for October is Autumn. Growing up in a tropical country, autumn was just another word, just like spring, summer, winter, and snow! The seasons I grew up with were the rainy season (when the monsoon rains came, twice a year in the area where I lived) and the dry season (when there were no monsoon rains). Then, I went to Wisconsin where I got to experience the season named autumn to the fullest! But, autumn in southern California is not that well defined a season! Summer lingers well into autumn, more so in some years than in others. The days do get colder, eventually, but, most trees don't change color and the few that do, usually turn yellow, not all the beautiful reds and oranges that typically signify autumn (at least, in my neighborhood) and, of course, I am not traveling to see the more typical autumnal sights.
But, here are my autumn offerings - photos of what autumn represents to me:

DeleteYou have certainly captured some very significant things of Autumn's glory. I always think that November, much like March, don't really belong to any season. November often feels like it wants to be part of October's glory, but sulks because it knows everyone is waiting for December.

ReplyDeleteYou have done really well. I wasn't sure how much of an "autumn" you really got in California, but I am glad to see that you do witness the colours turning and leaves falling.

DeleteThank you! Some areas in California (northern California, in the mountains, etc.) have more of a noticeable autumn than we do in southern California. There are a certain type of tree here that does show more of the red orange leaves, but, I just didn't leave my house and garden to go in search of them!

Your photos certainly have an autumn feel about them! We still have some colourful leaves around, such a variety of hues. I even found a small oak tree with red leaves. Usually they turn bronze. I love our American beech trees as they keep their fall orange leaves and give colour even when the other trees are bare.
