Cloudy and Cool on Thursday

Cloudy and cool, today.  The daytime high was 68F although the forecast had called for 71F.

I woke up with blocked sinuses and a headache from that due to the weather.  I took two Tylenols, but, they didn't do anything until I took an antihistamine my doctor has prescribed, some time ago.  That and resting for awhile helped.

I made a pot of tomato soup for brunch, today, with the last of the garden tomatoes and part of a bell pepper (as well as some carrots, onions, and garlic I had in the fridge).  My daughter asked for grilled cheese sandwiches to go with the tomato soup, so I made one for her and half a sandwich for me.

I took a small bowl of the soup over to neighbor S to try; we chatted for a bit and she played the piano for me!  We are going to wait until next month to start my piano lessons as S wants a short break from teaching.  I think that will suit me well.  I have plenty of pieces from previous lessons to practice on my own.

I called neighbor T, too, to offer her some tomato soup, but, she declined saying tomatoes don't agree with her stomach.  I will have to remember that for the future.

I didn't vacuum, today, because of my headache.  I will vacuum tomorrow, instead.

I cooked a pot of rice and a lentil curry for dinner, to have with leftover mackerel curry, moringa curry, and okra.

Later, I chatted with friend R.

A certain Bun Bun was also spotted in the backyard, enjoying some of the cat food kibbles, so I know that he is well and alive!  I had removed one of the pieces of cardboard blocking the gap between the gate and the wall because the cats were constantly knocking it down - I guess Bun Bun found the opening!

Today, I am grateful for:

- Tomatoes from the garden
- Antihistamines
- Chats with friends and neighbors
- Leftovers
- A relaxed day

Today's joyful activity was chatting with S and listening to her play the piano.

Plans for tomorrow include going for my blood test, M tending to the garden (depends on if it will rain - the forecast calls for scattered showers), vacuuming, and contacting the furnace installers to see if they notified the building inspector.

How was your Thursday?  What are your plans for Friday?

  2. Your soup sounds delicious. I made some tomato soup myself this week and I couldn't decide just what extra flavour needed adding. It turned out to be garlic :)
    I hope you're feeling better now. X

  4. It is definitely the season for soup; my plans include pumpkin soup for the holiday weekend. Oh those naughty neighbourhood cats & bunnies! Let's hope that the furnace inspector is on his way today (Friday).

    1. Pumpkin soup for the Thanksgiving weekend sounds just right! Cats, bunnies, and possums! There is a possum (occasionally, two!) who come at night to clean up whatever is left of the cat food kibbles! I call them my clean up crew! :D No call yet from the furnace inspector. I plan to call the furnace installers, later this afternoon, to see what is going on.

  5. Your soup sounds good and your weather was a good day for it.
Grilled Cheese always goes well with soup doesn't it?

I'm not sure what to make for dinner tonight. We had leftover swordfish last night that my husband had brought home from an end of season banquet for a golf league he belongs to so that was nice.
I have some leftover chicken in the refrigerator so maybe I will do something with that.

    1. Soup and grilled cheese is a classic, isn't it?

Leftover chicken sounds good for dinner. I put out some ground turkey to thaw for our dinner, tonight. Maybe I'll make curry puffs with it as a filling. :)

  6. Anti-histamines are so useful to have around and I'm glad yours helped. I hope you are all better today.
Our weather forecast was grim but nature has surprised us with yet another mild, sunny day! Only problem, I can't bear to be indoors, but I guess the less important chores will get done another time. These sunny fall days are too good to miss.

How nice to be surprised by pleasant sunny weather! Oh, don't worry, those chores will wait! Enjoy the sunny days when you can. :)
