Kufta, Compliments of Neighbor S and her Daughter N |
We had a sunny, clear day, today. It was cool in the morning, but, warmed up to 71F in the afternoon. The rain has moved east, they were saying.
I brought in the trash cans after they were emptied, collected the mail, walked a little bit in the driveway and back yard, and checked on the plants. Bun Bun was very much at home in the back yard, stretched out near the sweet potato plants and later, he ate some of the cats' kibbles and munched on watermelon leaves! This is the watermelon vine grown from the newer seeds that M had given on which Baby Melon grew. There is another watermelon growing on that vine, but, I haven't been trying to protect it as much as I did with Wawa and Walter III. I haven't seen any of the other rabbits, recently, so I wonder if Bun Bun is the only one left?
Later, I tidied the family room as some horizontal surfaces were getting cluttered! Speaking of clutter, today's decluttering included four books. They were daughter's books, but, I'm including them in my decluttering count!
Today, I finished reading the e-book I had borrowed from the library; "Caroline: Little House, Revisited" by Sarah Miller. It is historical fiction, focusing on the events described in the first two books in the Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder, the move from Wisconsin to Kansas, as seen from the perspective of her mother, Caroline Quiner Ingalls. I enjoyed reading it, but, I would have enjoyed it more if it had been a biography, or, covered a longer period of her life.
- No damage to my house and garden from the rain
- Neighbor S bringing us dinner
- Weekly trash collections
I do feel for you having sciatica pain, my husband is a sufferer and it is a very painful condition. Maybe the pain h a result from your recent driving to your eye appointment but I don't know obviously. The bunny is making himself well at home in your garden but I do feel sorry that he is feasting on your plants. It's raining here right now but I'll still go out for a walk. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Eileen; I was practically bedridden with sciatica during May and June! I think the pain was mostly due to dehydration, but, also, perhaps a combination of other factors, including the driving (although I had driven to downtown and back, a week earlier, without any problems). It seems to have gone away, today. I am keeping myself well hydrated! I haven't seen Bun Bun, this morning, but, he might show up, later in the evening! I hope you enjoy your walk, even if it is raining. Does Tilly mind the rain?
DeleteOh, I hope the leg pain is related to hydration and not a return of the sciatica pain. If it is a leg cramp I know that for some people applying a magnesium cream helps so that may be worth considering.
ReplyDeleteThe kufta looks good and I hope you both enjoyed your gifted meal.
Thank you, Eileen; I think it is hydration related. I made it a point to drink a lot of water last night and the pain seems to have gone away, this morning (apart from one twinge). I am trying to stay hydrated - I've drunk 3 cups (= 24 fl. oz.) so far; 5 more cups to go! I take magnesium supplements per doctor's orders, but, a topical magnesium cream might be helpful, too. My potassium level might have been down, too (I ate 2 mandarins to counteract that, yesterday; plan to eat a baked potato, today).
DeleteThe kufta was delicious and we both enjoyed it. S also offered a type of yogurt soup, but, I declined it; I've tried it, before, but, don't like it (don't like raita, either).
I am guessing there was not enough material to make Caroline an official biography. If the author fills in with imagined conversations that turns the book into fiction. But it's an interesting idea. Are there more books written from her perspective?
ReplyDeleteThere is a series of novels about Caroline, from the time she's 5 years old to when she marries Charles Ingalls called The Little House: the Caroline Years by Maria D. Wilkes. There are also series about her mother (The Charlotte Years by Melissa Wiley), her grandmother (The Martha Years, also by Melissa Wiley) and her granddaughter (Laura's daughter; The Rose Years by Roger Lea MacBride).
DeleteI hope you don't get any more leg pain. I woke with a leg cramp this morning, it happens occasionally and I get my foot to the ground and put weight on it and that seems to do the trick, I don't know why.
ReplyDeleteThe dog next door was over around lunch time for his treats. I told him he should have come earlier when I was waiting for DH to come home from town as I had time to play then.
We are going for our regular flu shots this afternoon.
Thank you, Bushlady; my leg is fine this morning, except for one twinge, earlier. I am keeping up with the water intake.
DeleteYour dog from next door is quite a character! He'll be back another time when you can play with him!
Hope your flu shot goes well and your won't feel any side effects from it. I need to schedule my flu shot, too.
Another food I had to Google. It sounds delicious.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear your leg is better now.
It really is delicious!
DeleteThank you, Anne; yes, the leg is better now. :)
Reading through I see your leg feels better and you think it was a dehydration issue.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad the situation did not get worse.
I have a kufta recipe bookmarked but I think it's a layered casserole structure not a meatball thing.
Although the picture shows meatballs. lol
I'm confused but will probably use it as a guid as it gives a set of ingredients to mix into the ground meat for flavor.
Does your neighbor use ground lamb? I may just use ground beef when I try it.
My leg feels fine, today, Debra, so, yes, it must have been dehydration. I'm glad, too, that it didn't get worse!
DeleteI think my neighbor uses ground beef, but, I can ask her, if you'd like me to. The layered casserole might be easier than making the individual meatballs, but, if you do a search for Armenian kufta, there is a recipe for making the meatballs, too, which calls for either ground lamb or ground beef.
