| Aloe Flower Stalks Forming |
The aloe plants in the front garden are starting to form flower stalks. They'll take several weeks before they form flowers and bloom.
I went to my doctor's appointment on Thursday afternoon. The appointment went well and we discussed the blood test results and I mentioned some symptoms I've been experiencing. As a result, the doctor made some changes to my medications and she also wants me to increase my protein in-take. So, I shall be making some changes to my diet and meal planning in the future. I need to take another blood test and see her again in three months time for a follow up.
I picked up a pizza on the way home and daughter and I had some of that for a late lunch. After lunch, I took another short walk to enjoy the afternoon sunshine.
M sent me a picture of the pineapple he is growing in his garden:

| M's Pineapple |
Isn't it amazing? He grew if from a pineapple top and now it's produced a fruit of its own!
In the evening, after daughter got off work, we went to the crafts store. She had already ordered the items she wanted online for store pick up, but, I wanted to walk around the store and take a look at what they had on sale. I also wanted to buy some blank cards with envelopes and I found them on sale for 50% off, so, I bought two packets of 25 cards and envelopes each. I spent $7.71 with tax. I will use these blank cards for my Christmas and New Year greetings cards.
I took a nap after I came home! I guess shopping tires me!
Later, I made fried rice for dinner, using up some leftover rice, leftover ground turkey mixture, a small piece of leftover smoked sausage, some frozen green peas, a scrambled egg, and a handful of cashews. Daughter and I shared a piece of pumpkin pie for dessert and I had a tangerine and some dates, too. Later, daughter warmed up a chocolate chip cookie and shared it with me. Yum!
Daughter has the day off on Friday. We are planning another trip to the Sri Lankan store to buy a few more items I want for the almsgiving and some snacks, as well. Later, M will be here to tend to the garden.
On Thursday, I was grateful for:
- The doctor's appointment went well
- A safe drive there and back
- Bargains at the craft store
- An evening nap
- Working appliances
Thursday's joyful activities included shopping at the crafts store and knitting.
How was your Thursday? What are your plans for Friday?

The pineapple 🍍 is gorgeous. It sounds like you have a very good and proactive doctor. Fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. :)
DeleteI am very impressed with M's pineapple. I have grown pineapple plants from tops before but they never formed new fruit. The only thing better than a chocolate chip cookie is a warm chocolate chip cookie. Yum!
ReplyDeleteM said his pineapple plant has produced plantlets and he will bring me one. I've tried growing them, before, but, they've died on me. Warm chocolate chip cookies are the best! :D
DeleteI love the photos today. I'm looking forward to seeing your aloe bloom. Glad your doctor's appointment went well. My Thursday was hectic with the grandbabies, so today will be a rest day for me.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Martha. Enjoy your day of rest!
DeleteThursday we went to the U3A club for tea and chat. It's on once a month for retired people and there are several groups in it like craft club, French club, badminton, lunch club, theater groups etc. It was really nice as we had mince pies, mulled wine, tea coffee and biscuits on offer as it was the last meeting before Christmas. Its only £1.50 for tea and chat which is just about $2 in your currency.
ReplyDeleteHi Sally, sounds like you had a nice day on Thursday at the U3A club. The tea sounds lovely and for a very reasonable price, too. Thank you for visiting my blog and commenting. Looking forward to hearing from you, again. :)
DeleteThe aloe flower bud bears a resemblance to a closed pine cone! I see similarity to the pineapple, too, in the spiral effect. How wonderful to be able to produce a pineapple from a plant grown from a pineapple top! M must be proud of it.
ReplyDeleteThey both do look a bit like pinecones, don't they? I guess that's how the pineapple got it's name? Growing a pineapple from a top is quite an achievement, isn't it?
DeleteI like the light in the top photo, and the way it highlights the serrated edges of the aloe leaves, making shadows. Also impressed about the pineapple. I do hope it is sweet and juicy for M after all his efforts. Dry, sharp pineapples are such a disappointment! I once saw pineapples growing in Thailand, but I didn't pick or try any of them.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lady Ella. I didn't even notice the light in the top photo as I was trying to focus on the flower stalk! But, now that you've commented on it, I've gone back and studied the picture. My cell phone takes some good pictures, apparently! :D
DeleteI hope M's pineapple turns out sweet and juicy. He asked me when he should pick it, apparently having picked a previous one before it was ready. I told him to wait until the peel turned yellow-orange and there is a nice, ripe pineapple fragrance.
Oh wow! How lovely to be able to grow a pineapple!
ReplyDeleteIt is, isn't it? I'm excited for M and hope his pineapple turns out sweet and juicy. :)
DeleteAs others have mentioned, these are 2 very nice photos. I will be looking forward to M's pineapple's progress as well as you Aloe flowering. And the little pineapple plant for you from M.
ReplyDeleteGlad your doctor's visit went well.
Thank you, Debra. I'm looking forward to having a little pineapple plantation of my own! LOL. And I am quite pleased with how the doctor's appointment went, this time. :)
