| Aloe Flowers in the Back Garden |
The aloe flowers in the front garden haven't opened up, yet, but, this plant in the back garden (a different species of aloe) has several flower stalks in bloom.
On Sunday, daughter spent the day in the company of several of her friends. They did their White Elephant/Stocking Stuffers gift exchange, played some games, did a couple of escape rooms, had dinner, and visited another friend on the way home. Daughter said she laughed for the first time since Dancer died.
I spent a relaxed day at home. I walked for 20 minutes, added more lights to the Christmas tree, sorted through and disposed of a few of Dancer's things including the brush we used to brush him, wrapped a couple of gifts, watched some online videos and knitted.
I like to save the holiday greeting cards I receive and I often reuse the card fronts to make new cards or to serve as gift tags:

How clever to add a slot to slip the tag into. I've never seen that before, and I like it.
ReplyDeleteThank you, June. Someone gave me a gift with a card slipped into a fold in the wrapping paper, many years ago, and I've tried to duplicate it. :)
DeleteI'm so glad to hear your daughter was finally able to laugh and enjoy some time with friends. Glad you were able to get the rest of the lights on the tree, too. I love the way you reuse the cards, what a great idea!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Martha. Yes, daughter found it very helpful to be with her friends and have fun activities to distract her. The tree is looking very festive with all the lights. I like reusing the cards, when possible and save on buying gift tags, too. :)
DeleteSunday very busy with carols at church. Monday, craft group party and visiting a friend in hospital. And earing ice cream to soothe my sore throat
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are constantly on the go, Angela. Hope the ice cream helped!
DeleteThat is a very attractive photo of the aloe flowers, with the green and yellow leafed plant in the background.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good idea to fold the gift wrapping paper to create a pocket for those matching snowman tags.
Thank you, Bushlady. The green and white leafed plant in the background is an aeonium, "Sunburst".
DeleteI like being able to tuck the gift tag in the fold. :)
I am so very sorry to hear about Dancer. You must both be devastated. Sending hugs to you and your daughter xx
ReplyDeleteI really like your idea for the gift tags, Bless, I might be able to incorporate the folding technique in my card craft. Thank you for the idea. I love snowman images!

Thank you, Angie. We are missing Dancer so much! It's never easy to put down a pet, but, to do it so close to the holidays seems to make it even worse.
DeleteGlad you like the gift tags and folding ideas. I, too, love snowmen. :)
I'm happy your daughter was able to have a nice time with her friends. It sounds like a fun day!
ReplyDeleteHow clever to create a little slot with the wrapping paper for the gift tag. I'm stealing that idea ;)
(I have the same snowman wrapping paper lol)
Thank you, Debra. Daughter's friends went out of their way to distract daughter extending what was supposed to have been a morning of board games and gift exchange to a whole day event!
DeleteI received a gift from a friend, many years ago, where she inserted a card into a fold in the wrapping paper. Her fold was different, but, I've borrowed her idea. You are welcome to steal it! :D
Too funny that you have the same wrapping paper! I bought mine when it was on sale after Christmas, one year. Most probably you did, too!
Lovely aloe plants. So vibrant.
ReplyDeleteLove the snowmen!
Thank you, Sharon. I, too, like the snowmen. :)
