| Saturday's Harvest |
I picked more lettuce and snow pea pods from the garden on Saturday!
It was a sunny day with clear blue skies and an afternoon high of 73F! It was warmer outside than it was inside, so, I spent the morning and part of the afternoon outside! It was pleasant to listen to the birdsongs and watch the butterflies and the lizards, while I had my morning cup of tea and said my morning prayers. I watched a pair of hummingbirds drink nectar from the crocosmia flowers, but, they flew away when I tried to take a photo. I also did two loads of laundry and changed the dust sheets on the family room sofas.
Later in the afternoon, I sewed a bit on the quilt I am repairing and watched a couple of videos while I did so. Still later, I watched news and some TV programs and knitted.

The front garden is sort of in a transition phase right now. The lantana bushes have suffered some frost damage from those nights when the temperature dipped down to 35F and are not looking their best. The succulents beds need some tidying up, too. But, the plants are all doing well and there's more rain in the forecast, so, they will get plenty of water, again!
On Saturday, I was grateful for:
- Another sunny and warm day
- More garden produce to harvest
- Working appliances
- Phone calls with family and friends
- The car started without any problem
Saturday's joyful activities included sitting outside listening to birdsong and enjoying the sunshine.

The birds are starting to sing more in the morning here as they are getting ready for mating season. It's a nice way to wake up. Your garden is looking very colorful these days.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm noticing the birds seem to be pairing up and I saw a pair of lizards sort of canoodling on the back garden wall. :D The garden is looking well, isn't it?

ReplyDeleteIt's sunny here today (Sunday) but a really chilly breeze so too cold to sit outside. It felt like a lovely spring day though. Glad you were able to sit outside for a while and listen to the birdsong. xx
Yes, the front garden is doing well, isn't it? My pomegranate tree went into dormancy around November; I think yours retained its leaves well into December. Whatever happened to the baby pomegranate? Did it survive the snow?
DeleteIt was rainy here on Sunday; I didn't go outside at all! More rain in the forecast for most of next week, too! I think I can feel the start of gills forming in my neck! :D
Sadly, the baby pomegranate didn't make it! xx

ReplyDeleteThank you, Eileen. I'm so happy to be able to pick lettuce and snow peas; snow peas, especially, are a bit expensive, here. It's been a rainy day, today, so, I've spent the day indoors. I'm glad I was able to sit outside, yesterday. :)

ReplyDeleteIt was well below freezing when we got up, but the sun is shining and it is just a little above freezing. We decided not to go for a walk as the road is full of icy ruts, so we will enjoy puttering at home instead.
Thank you, Bushlady; I enjoyed spending time outside, yesterday. Today, in contrast, was a rainy day and I stayed inside! You were probably very wise to stay home and not go for a walk on the icy road. Hope you had a lovely day. :)

Saturday we had one of our community's bulk waste days. Of course I had to take advantage of it.
I took apart my desk which was an old door on an old filing cabinet on one side and a wooden saw horse on the other. The filing cabinet was empty (yeah for last year's shredding and getting rid of a lifetime's worth of tax returns) so it didn't take me long to disassemble the desk.
With husband's help we loaded it into the car and off I went.
If you recall, I came upon a nice table on the side of the road a while back that is now my new desk.
With years of decluttering (slowly but consistently) it was amazing how quickly this change came about because there wasn't a lot of stuff in the room anymore.
I'm very happy with the room now.
But I think I need to paint it......you know how that goes lol

DeleteOh, well done emptying the filing cabinet and getting rid of the old desk! Ha, ha, we had a door acting as a table in our first apartment in California! We propped one end of it on a low bookcase and the other end on a filing cabinet! Later, I bought a table and we got rid of the door, but, kept the filing cabinet for years! Finally, gave it to a friend when I moved out of the apartment and into the house.
The desk in my daughter's room is a flat piece of board set up on a set of drawers and a small cabinet - but, we bought the items from Ikea.
Well, yes, of course you now need to paint the room! :D
That top photo is most artistic! I need to click back to compare the front garden with March 22 but I will do that some time when it isn't midnight!
