Super Bowl Sunday

New Earrings From My Daughter

My daughter made these polymer clay earrings for me!  Strawberries and mushrooms!  Or, are they toadstools?

It's been a lovely day, weatherwise, today.  Sunny and warm.  I spoke with cousin P in the morning, called a friend, and made waffles for brunch.  Later, I cooked a pork roast for dinner.  I added carrots, an onion, some celery stalks, and the last of the potatoes to the roast and it turned out well.  I served up a plate of it to give to neighbor T and my daughter took it over and kept it near T's front door; T called later to say that it was delicious.  I will take some over to friend R, tomorrow.   I kept some in the fridge for tomorrow's dinner and froze the rest for another time.

Later, I dusted the family room and watched the Super Bowl.  It was an exciting game, I thought; I was rooting for the home team.  At first, they led, then, the other team scored and it looked like the home team might lose, but, they pulled a victory at the last minute!  They scored a touchdown with 1.25 minutes of game time remaining; that's pretty close to last minute, isn't it?

In the evening, after dinner, I chatted with friend R, did the dishes, cleaned the kitchen a bit (wiped down the stove top, counters, scrubbed the sink, and mopped the floor), and cleaned the litter box.  Watched a little of the ice dancing, too.

Today, I am grateful for:

- Sunny and warm days
- Working appliances
- Chats with family and friends
- Being able to share food with friends and neighbors
- What I was able to accomplish in terms of housekeeping

Today's joyful activity was watching the game on TV.

Plans for tomorrow include:

- Doing laundry
- Curbside visit with friend R
- Taking the trash cans to the curb
- Maybe watering the back garden
- Vacuuming

How was your Sunday?  What are your plans for Monday

  1. My daughter and SIL love American football. They've taken today off work because they wanted to stay up all night and watch the coverage on TV. I shall call her later for their verdict. Today I'll be with other daughter and two grandchildren all day.

  2. Those earrings are so cute. Daughter is quite the crafty lady, like her Mom. Glad you enjoyed the Super Bowl. While we are not football fans, I did keep an ear open to hear the score first thing this morning. Glad your team won.

    1. They are cute, aren't they? I'm wearing the strawberries, today. :)
Got to root for the home team if they are playing! If not, I usually pick the underdogs to cheer for! :D

  3. Very pretty earrings from your talented daughter.

I'm glad you enjoyed watching the Super Bowl. I don't know whether it was available to view in this country, but I'm not a big sports fan so wouldn't have watched it anyway. I rarely watch any sport now, since losing Ced.

I'm just having a pottering sort of day today (Monday). The fencer has started work and it's a bit too noisy to concentrate on much really, but he won't be here for too many days so I can cope with it. It's worth it for the new fence!

    1. Thank you, Eileen. :)

I'm not that big of a football fan to watch all the games, but, when it is the Super Bowl and the home team is playing at home, one has to watch! :D

I imagine the fence work is noisy and distracting. But, as you say, the noise will last for only a few days and the end results will be something you'll enjoy for many years to come. :)

  4. Your roast sounds delicious. I don't often make a roast dinner but we do enjoy them.
We've had more snow all day yesterday into this morning.
With water all around, today would be a good day for a roast dinner, wouldn't it?

You've stayed up with your chores this past week. Are you still following the guide you made up for your home tasks?

    1. Thank you, Debra; I don't make roast dinners that often either, partly because my daughter doesn't normally like them (I used to make them more often when my mother was alive because she loved them). But, this time, my daughter enjoyed it! I like it because it is a one pot meal! A cold and wet day would be ideal weather for a roast dinner!

Thank you! I'm trying! I've had to tweak the cleaning schedule a bit (doing more cleaning during the weekends because I don't like to disturb my daughter during working hours), but, I do refer to it to try and stay on track! :)

  5. Your daughter is very talented. She should make a pair of earrings for everything you grow in your backyard. That would keep her busy for a while. :)

    1. Thank you, June. I'm not sure if I'd want to wear a pair of earrings that look like broccoli, but, that is an idea! :D She made some that look like onigiri (rice balls) and some characters from various anime or video games, this time around. :)

  6. What sweet earrings! That must have been a really exciting ending to the game, I'm glad your home team won.
Well, at last our family made it for the weekend and we had a lovely visit. It was so good to see them after so long, Christmas gifts were exchanged and then after they left it was time to tidy up, as our contractor was due this morning and already we only had the table and chairs left in the dining room, so we moved them out. Now it is all cutting and banging and outside it is soooo cold! And yes, we will be dining on leftovers, too.

I'm so very glad that you were able to have your long awaited family gathering this weekend. You were able to celebrate a lot of things in one go! :)
It sounds like the flooring work has already begun! Hopefully, they will be done in a couple of days and you can get back to the fun of putting things back in place! :D
Leftovers are a good thing to have, aren't they? :)

  7. We enjoyed the Super Bowl too! TheHub was rooting for the Bengals, while I was a Rams fan. We both love a close game and this one was about as close as it could be!
I was kind of happy to see the oldest player in the NFL, not only have a lot of playing time, but also be on the winning team!

    1. It was a good game, wasn't it? I'd have rooted for the Bengals if the Rams weren't playing! :D Now, if the Green Bay Packers were playing the Rams, then, I wouldn't have known whom to root for, because I was a Packers fan first! :D Glad you enjoyed the game. :)

  9. Husband and I had to actually look up who was playing as neither of us had a clue lol. Can you tell we didn't watch it either?

Love the earrings. Your daughter is so very talented.
