After several days of rain and grey skies, today has been sunny with clear blue skies! Such a welcome change!
I am erasing the evidence of the almsgiving, today! I moved the last few items of furniture back to their usual places and dusted the living room furniture. Then, I emptied the dishwasher and the dish drying rack and put away some of the items. Then, washed several more items that I couldn't get to, yesterday.
In the afternoon, I did three loads of laundry - one load is waiting to be folded and put away, one load is in the dryer, and one load is in the washer, as I type this. Yes, I'm using the dryer today as I want to get it all done quickly. I do have some kitchen towels air drying, however.
I emptied the waste baskets and took the kitchen trash out and took the big trash bin, yard waste recycling bin, and regular recycling bin to the curb for trash pick up, tomorrow. I also walked around the front garden and checked on things - lots of weeds are coming up after all the rain we've had!
The vet's clinic called me, today, to tell me that the blood test results have come back and they do confirm the diagnosis of hyperthyroidism. I asked them to email me the results and have forwarded it to my daughter for her review. Dancer is technically her cat and I will do what she wants in terms of treatments.
Aunt C called too. She asked me if I received the pie and I asked her what pie? Apparently, she sent a lemon meringue pie (my mother's favorite) as her contribution to the almsgiving through her neighbor, given him my address, and some money for his trouble. He apparently told her that he delivered the pie to a lady with the same skin color as my aunt! Except, I am unaware of any pie being delivered - I certainly didn't receive it! Maybe she gave him the wrong address? I've no idea who he delivered it to, but, I hope whoever received it, enjoyed it!
I also called my neighbor T - she had called me, yesterday morning, for our usual weekly phone chat, but, I had to tell her that I couldn't chat since the monks were here and I was busy. I had promised to call her today. We chatted a bit and rang off, promising to check on each other, again, later in the week.
I still have a few more items to put away; I will do what I can, later this evening, but, if I feel tired, then, it can wait until tomorrow.
Today, I am grateful for:
- A sunny day
- A working washer and dryer
- The vet's office forwarding the blood test results
- What I was able to accomplish, today, in terms of putting stuff away
- A fridge full of leftovers!
Tuesday's To Do List:
- Finish putting away stuff and erasing the evidence
How was your Monday? What are your plans for Tuesday?
How funny about the pie! I wonder who the lucky woman was that received it? Fortunately you had plenty of food anyway for the Almsgiving.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes use the dryer too, when I just want to get a lot of laundry out of the way.
I wonder if poor Dancer will have to have a daily pill for his condition? I hope all will go well for him.
My aunt seems to think the neighbor kept the pie for himself! LOL. I think she gave him the wrong address! Fortunately, there was more than enough of food! Especially desserts!
DeleteDancer will have to have daily pills, 3 times a day, if we choose to go that route. Live and Learn mentioned applying a cream to the ear of her cat for the same condition and I think that might be easier than trying to give him pills. The vet seemed to be pushing for the irradiated iodine treatment, which is a one time treatment, but, he has to be boarded for several days after the treatment to quarantine him and I don't know how he'll take that, plus the up front costs are rather steep. I think we should try the ear cream method, but, I think my daughter is leaning towards the radiation treatment. I want her to discuss this with the vet over the Christmas holidays when she'll be down here.
You have worked very hard both before and after your almsgiving. I bet you're ready for a little TV and some knitting.
ReplyDeleteYes. I have put away everything, other than the table covers which need ironing before being put away. I plan to do that, tomorrow, and then, rest a bit before getting the holiday gifts done!
DeleteWhen we moved to Leicester, a lady came round with a home made cake in a tin. I said I would bring the empty tin back to church on Sunday. She asked me to deliver it to her house in Main Street, and I wrote down the address. When I took it back she was out so I left it inside her porch. I later discovered she hadn't lived in Main Street for 10 years! I never knew what happened to the tin.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why she gave you her old address?! Did you meet her again, afterwards, and tell her that you left the cake tin at the address she gave you?
DeleteThe pie story made me chuckle. I hope whoever received it enjoyed it and your aunt's efforts didn't go to waste.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are able to put your feet up and have a rest today, after all your hard work with the almsgiving. X
I, too, hope that whoever received it enjoyed it! I'm taking it easy, today. I woke up with a bit of a cough and don't want it to become anything more serious!
DeleteThe Mystery of the Disappearing Lemon Meringue Pie ... how strange! Just as well you weren't relying on it for desserts. It's my favourite but I promise you I was not involved in any way 😂
ReplyDeleteIt is a mystery, isn't it? Earlier, my aunt had volunteered to bring the yogurt and treacle, but, when she called me, later, to say she wasn't sure if she would be able to attend the almsgiving, I just went ahead and assumed she won't be coming and bought the yogurt, myself! I had no idea she would try to send a pie! Good to know you weren't involved in its disappearance! :D
DeleteI always find the cleaning up after an event like this to have a certain sense of peace compared to the hectic worry of the preparations. I hope you find some time for complete rest and relaxation now that you've erased the evidence.
ReplyDeleteThat is a good way of looking at the cleaning up, afterwards! Thank you, I am taking it easy, today, especially since I seem to have come down with a cough!
DeleteWell! I guess someone received a nice pie! Must've made her day! lol Andrea
ReplyDeleteHopefully, they enjoyed their pie! Too funny! :D
Deletethe after-effects of an event do seem daunting, don't they ... you seem to have things in order though- I tend to often find things in the refrigerator that I had intended to serve or a list I completely forgot to consult- obviously I might need to think about being a bit (ha! a lot) more organized-
ReplyDeleteenjoy your sunshine- we have rain and stormy weather coming our way this week-
fondest regards-
Barb
I generally dislike the putting away part of things! But, I try to do it, right away. I've forgotten things in the fridge, myself, and, this year, I didn't post the menu on the fridge, as I usually do. In fact, my friend was asking me about it! But, fortunately, I remembered to serve everything!
DeleteIt's starting to get cloudy, again. But, no rain, so that's OK.
Hope your daughter's surgery goes/went well and the path lab results are good. Sending prayers and good thoughts your way.
I hope someone enjoyed the pie, too.
ReplyDeleteMe, too, Akasha, except now, I am wishing I could have a slice of lemon meringue pie! :D
