Today, my daughter was presented with an opportunity to go clothes shopping (for herself).
One of the ladies she works with belongs to a group of people who take turns to feed some stray and feral cats hanging around the stables at a race course in the Bay Area. This lady goes to feed the cats every Sunday. Every couple of weeks, she invites daughter to go along with her. After they feed the cats, they go grocery shopping, run errands, etc. Sometimes, they go out to eat, as well.
Today, apparently the lady was meeting with some other friends of hers before grocery shopping and while she did that, daughter decided to go clothes shopping. There was a discount clothing store near the grocery store where they had agreed to meet.
It is a store we have down here, as well, and one where daughter and I
shop quite frequently because they have good bargains. She was looking for a few casual wear items to replenish worn out items in her summer wardrobe. After she came home, she sent me pictures of what she bought and I thought I'll share them with you!
I am afraid I don't know how to do photo collages, otherwise, I'd group some of these pictures.

White T Shirt, $1.99 |
It was originally priced at almost $40 (not sure where or who would pay $40 for a T-shirt), supposedly selling elsewhere for $3.99 but on sale at this store for $1.99.

Two Tank/Cami Tops, $1 each |

Three V-Necked T-Shirts, $2.99 @ |

The lace blouse is open in the back, from the base of the collar to the top of the hem where there is a bow to be tied; to be worn with one of the tank tops:

Over-Sized "Bell" Top, $1.99 |
She has been wanting a pair of these types of shorts with lace trimming on the legs for several years; the navy and white print one has white lace; the black and white print one has black lace.
|
Two Pairs of Shorts, $3.99 @ |
Something else she had been wanting for a long time and the most expensive item she purchased today:
|
Lace Shorts, $7.99 |
The tag on this dress was $5.99 and she thought it was a good price, especially as it included the necklace. But when she went to pay for it, she found that it was on sale for $3.99! She told me, and I quote her exact words, that it was "a modest length". She wore it and showed it to me when we video chatted, and the skirt ends just above her knees. Yes, definitely a modest length! LOL.

Dress with Necklace, $3.99 |
|
Dress Price Tag (but it was on sale for $3.99) |
So, she purchased 15 items, altogether, and paid a total of $52.06 including sales tax!
|
Receipt: 15 Items for $52.06 |
I'd say that was a very successful shopping trip, wouldn't you?
That is some seriously impressive shopping!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it? She likes a good bargain!
DeleteWow, that's amazing. What's the name of the store?
ReplyDeleteIt's a store known as Fallas Paredes, here, in Calif. According to Wikipedia, it is a chain of stores operated by National Stores which also operates a few other stores. They have some of the best prices and a good selection of clothes. Daughter said she didn't even look in the $8 and up aisles. :)
DeleteYou've taught her well! I don't recognize that price tag from stores in our area. Do you mind sharing the store name? Would love to check them out if we have them here. The lace shorts and top are just too cute!! She did good!
ReplyDeleteCarolyn, the store is called Fallas Paredes, here, in Calif. According to Wikipedia, it is a chain of stores operated by National Stores which also operates a few other stores. When I first started shopping there, back in the early 1990s, they only had one or two stores that I knew of. Now, they have several stores throughout the area.
DeleteHi Bless. Can you tell me the name of the store? I live here also and the prices are great. I'd love to check it out. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThe store is called Fallas Paredes. Ha,ha, I must show this blog post to them and ask for a discount for telling my readers about them! :D
DeleteI would say they were a bargain. I've never seen such low prices. She must have been pleased with her purchases. X
ReplyDeleteShe was very happy to discover there was a branch of the store up there, too, Jules. There's nothing she hates more than to pay more for things she knows she can get for less, elsewhere! She's like me in that way. ;) We both love a bargain!

ReplyDeleteYour daughter is one very smart lady and has good taste. Not being in touch with what young ladies wear these days I had never seen lace shorts! Hope they wash and wear well. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGood point, Sandy. I've no idea how the lace shorts will stand up to being laundered. I might tell her to wash them in a gentle cycle.
DeleteYour daughter did well, sounds as if she what we call here "a chip of the old block"! The lace shorts look sweet!
ReplyDeleteHa, ha, she is a bit of a mini-me when it comes to being frugal and shopping for a bargain! The lace shorts look a bit like a skirt when worn (they have a self colored lining; they look cute and suit her. :)
DeleteShe did AMAZING! You taught her well!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joy. She hates to pay more at department stores when she knows she can get similar items for less at these discount places. One year, for her birthday, she received several gift cards to one of the department stores and she moaned about having to pay 2-3 times as much on the clothes from there, even though she was using the gift cards.
DeleteWow, she sure got some great deals!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debbie. She's very pleased with what she bought and the prices she paid. :)
DeleteI do like the lacy blouse and can imagine it looking very smart over a contrasting tanktop/cami.
ReplyDeleteShe has got good wear from that blouse. If I am not mistaken, she still has it. :)
