Spring Forward on Sunday

The Succulents Nursery

The red aloe was divided in February and the individual plants were potted up.  One of them was taken to the front garden and kept near the front door, but, the rest are kept in the back garden, along with the single blue aloe plant.

We put the clocks forward this morning as we switched to Daylight Savings Time.  No doubt it will take me at least a week to adjust.  But, daughter was up bright and early today to spend the day doing escape rooms with her friends.  I woke up briefly when she woke up, but, I went back to bed and slept for another couple of hours.

It was a mostly cloudy day, but, I opened all the drapes and vertical blinds to get as much light as possible into the house, and, later in the afternoon, I opened one or two windows to air out the house.

I did a little cleaning (scrubbed both toilets and swept my bathroom), did a load of laundry (the kitchen mats, bathroom rugs, etc.), and washed the dishes.  Then, I replied to blog comments, read and commented on another blog or two, played some computer games, watched the news on TV and watched the Academy Awards/Oscars.  I haven't seen any of the movies nominated for awards, but, that didn't matter.  I just enjoyed watching the show.

Daughter came home shortly after that, and she brought me some doughnuts made with rice flour "mochi" dough which were very delicious.

I had leftover patties for brunch and the rest of my beef teriyaki meal from last night for my dinner.  Daughter had lunch out with her friends and some of the unagi donburi for her dinner.

Today, I was grateful for:

- Daughter had fun with her friends
- I slept in and had a relaxed day
- Leftovers for meals
- Working appliances
- More daylight hours in the evenings

Today's joyful activity was playing online games and watching TV!

Plans for Monday - Daughter will be working from home, on Monday,  I plan to do some paperwork and pay the gas bill, maybe do some tidying, and mending, etc.

How was your Saturday?  What are your plans for Monday?

  1. It seems like you have another family of red aloe plants, hopefully they all thrive in their new location. How lovely to have your daughter visiting with you, I am sure there is a little fur man quite happy about that. :)

    1. Yes, we divided the red aloe and now I have six red aloes! Being in pots, they will be moved around to get more sun once they are fully established.
It's lovely to have my daughter home and yes, there is a little fur man who is very happy to have her fussing over him! :)

  2. I am looking forward to more light in the evenings, but the spring time change is always difficult.

    1. The mornings are harder, isn't it? At least until there is more light and one gets used to waking up an hour earlier.

  3. Monday in New York is cold and very windy. My little old lady dogs didn’t like their walk at all. I think we have wind advisories all day.
Husband is off because he’s going to the eye doctor. I am working from home.
I had a few nice phone calls catching up with family last night and never turned on the TV to watch the Oscars. I hope to hear the winners on the news reports later. I love to see what everyone was wearing!

    1. So sorry to hear that it is cold and windy up there! Hope your husband's eye appointment goes well and you have a good day working from home. My daughter is also working from home, today. Phone calls with the family comes first; no doubt you will be able to catch up on the Oscars news in the coming days. :)

  4. The succulents are lovely but little blue succulent looks overwhelmed by the glamour and size of the others! I have a pot with two identical succulents in the house. They are dark green, spiky and with white lines on them. I think they are a type of Hawarthia. I like them as they behave very well!

    1. "Little Blue" will come into its own in another few months or a couple of years! I've no idea how quickly it will grow!
Your plants sound like they are Zebra plants (Haworthia fasciata). I have one of them in my collection, too, thanks to M who keeps me supplied with succulents. :)

  5. Our clocks spring forward at the end of the month and I don't seem to have any trouble adjusting. I've got a sore throat and bad cough today and have only just surfaced from the sofa, I've definitely been relaxing.

    1. Oh, I hope you continue to take it easy and get over that sore throat and bad cough, too. Wrap up warmly when you take Tilly for her walk.

  6. Our clocks haven't changed yet - I have a feeling this year it falls on my birthday or Easter day, which isn't ideal but I like that it represents the arrival of spring and longer days.
I haven't had unagi for a very long time! I don't mind it, but when I have the chance to eat Japanese food, there are so many other things I prefer...!

    1. I think we change our clocks earlier than you in the spring and later than you in the fall! Got to take as much advantage of daylights saving time as possible! My daughter likes unagi and orders it whenever she can. :)

  7. I had a slight moment of panic when I read this post, then I remembered your clocks change earlier in the month than ours :)

    1. Oops! Sorry about that, Jules! Glad you realized that we change our clocks earlier than you (and we change it later than you, in the fall). :)

  8. Your red aloe plants look so nice in the succulents nursery :)
I see you are up to 6 aloe plants now.
It takes me a while to get used to the time change too.
Oh gosh, those doughnuts sound good.

    1. Yes, they are turning nicely red, now. :)
The doughnuts were very good! Not as soft and puffy as regular doughnuts, but very tasty. :)
