Mid-Week on Wednesday

Tree Bark

I saw this tree trunk when I was at the library, the other day, and took a picture of the mottled pattern of the tree bark.  I believe it is a plane tree.

Today, Wednesday, M was here around noon to tend to the garden.  He did some weeding and watered only the potted plants as the rest of the garden didn't need watering.

In the afternoon, daughter went for a walk with neighbor S's older daughter.  They just walked around the neighborhood, but, they enjoyed a good talk and catching up with each other.

Still later in the afternoon/early evening, we had a quick, curbside visit with friend R who had wanted to see daughter.  I took some freshly picked curry leaves to R; I offered some lemons, but she declined.

On the way back, we took a short detour to put gas to the car.  I was down to one quarter of a tank and I wanted to fill it up.  The nice thing about putting gas when my daughter is visiting is she will usually be the one to go in to pay and actually put the gas while I sit in the car!  This was only the second time I put gas to the car this year - I put gas at the beginning of January and now, mid-March.

After we came home, we relaxed.  I watched news and crocheted, daughter played one of her video games.  I called former neighbor T and we chatted for a bit and I exchanged emails with a friend.  Then, I did a few household things such as washing the dishes.

We had leftovers for lunch and we'll probably have leftovers for dinner, too.

Today, I am grateful for:

- M's help with the garden
- Daughter enjoyed a walk and chat with her friend
- A curbside visit with friend R
- Emails, texts and phone calls with family and friends
- Gas for the car

Today's joyful activity was spending time with my daughter.

Plans for tomorrow include visiting two of my cousins in the afternoon.  However, it might be subject to change as I want to call my doctor's office in the morning to ask about a somewhat painful swelling in my leg and see if I need to have it checked and if so, when she might be able to fit me in.

How was your Wednesday?  What are your plans for Thursday?

  1. I'm sorry to learn you have a painful swelling on your leg, I hope it heals soon. That is unusual bark on the tree trunk it almost looks like a giraffe's neck :) You're like us as we don't need to put much petrol in the tank anymore as we only seem to do short local trips these days. Enjoy your visit with your cousins if you are able to make it.

    1. Thank you, Eileen; I'm a little concerned that it might be a blood clot! That bark on the tree trunk does look like a giraffe's neck, doesn't it? Yes, I've gone from needing to fill up the tank twice a week (back when I used to take my daughter to university on my way to work and pick her up on the way back home) to once in two months or so! I do hope to be able to see my cousins tomorrow (or maybe even on Friday if I have to postpone it a day).

    1. Thank you, Jules. It's been there since Sunday, so I think I should get it seen and hopefully, I'll be told that it is nothing to worry about. :)

  4. I’m hoping that you get good news about the worrisome swelling, and that it’s sooner rather than later.
Sounds like you’re both enjoying some neighborhood socializing. I often like that better than parties, but I am a little on the quiet side.
Interesting bark on the tree. It’s a fun time of year to walk and notice what’s growing. I see something different here every day. And we have crocuses blooming in the yard. ☺️

    1. Thank you, Taconix; I've called the doctor's office and left messages, I hope they call back soon.
Yes, we are on the quiet side, ourselves, and prefer small gatherings to parties (especially these days!)
How wonderful to have crocuses blooming in your yard! That must mean that spring is just around the corner! :)

    1. Thank you, Celie; yes, I was able to see the doctor this afternoon. Urgent care was the other option, if I couldn't get to see the doctor.
I am enjoying having daughter home. :)

  6. I love the photo of the tree bark. I often find patterns on bark quite beautiful. Nature has so much to offer! I hope you got a reply from the doctor's office and were able to get in soon.

    1. I, too, thought the bark was interesting, Sharon. It looked a bit like the tree was wearing camouflage!

  8. I hope as I read on that your leg is no longer swelled and it is now fine.
I don't drive much either any more. My husband goes out everyday but I definitely am a home body. I do meet my friends for coffee weekly and now that covid numbers are way down I am meeting up with my knitting friend again at our Barnes & Noble every week but other than that I rarely drive anywhere.
I helps with the gas budget doesn't it?

    1. It turned out to be a blood clot, Debra, and it is still there, although I am applying some medication to help dissolve it.
That's nice that you are getting together with your knitting friend once a week. I'm still staying home for the most part. It certainly helps with the gas budget! :D
