Bless' Waffle Station |
I had a rather restless night, last night. My leg was painful and my stomach was having some issues. I woke up a couple of times to go to the toilet and had some trouble falling asleep again, but, eventually, I fell into a deep sleep and slept in. Let's just say that I tacked on my afternoon nap to the night's sleep! LOL!
I felt better when I woke up today and haven't felt as much leg pain today. I made a pork curry with all the leftover pieces of pork that I hadn't already frozen and then, decided to make waffles for brunch. But, I didn't want to stand to make waffles, so, I set up a little waffle making station in the living room! I had my daughter place the side table in front of my arm chair and I made plain waffles and blueberry waffles. We had the plain waffle with some of the pork curry and the blueberry waffles with syrup. Around tea time, we snacked on the leftover waffles. Later, for dinner, we had leftover rice and pork stir-fry from last night.
In the late afternoon, I walked a little bit in the garden and up and down the driveway.
The Plum Tree is Flowering |
Last summer, we had about a dozen or so plums; I'm hoping that we'll have a few more than that, this year.
The First Nectarine Flower |
Last year, we didn't get any nectarines; I am hoping that we will get at least a few fruit, this year.
The Fuyu Persimmon Tree is Leafing Out |
The fuyu persimmon tree is starting to leaf out! Last year, we had one tiny fruit from this tree. I am hoping that there will be more than one fruit to enjoy this year.
Much later in the evening, my leg hurt a bit, but, it was time to apply more of the ointment I was prescribed and the pain lessened.
My aunt called in the evening and I spoke with her for a bit, then, played a few computer games and watered the indoor plants. All in all, it was a good day.
Today, I was grateful for:
- Being able to sleep in
- Medication for the blood clot
- My daughter didn't have to leave today
- Phone calls and emails from family and friends
- What I was able to accomplish
Today's joyful activity was walking around the garden, checking on new growth.
Plans for tomorrow include cleaning out the fridge, maybe making a meal plan, taking the trash cans out, and crocheting. Daughter will be working from home and I know that she has some online meetings, so, I will do some quiet activities in the background until she is done with her work.
How was your Sunday? What are your plans for Monday?
I do hope your leg is healing nicely and do take things easy. I'm glad your daughter is home to help you and keep you company.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Eileen; yes, I'm continuing to take it easy and am very glad that my daughter is home for a little longer. :)
DeleteThe blossom looks so pretty.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you've enjoyed a restful day. Xx
Thank you, Jules. Yes, I'm taking it easy for a few days. :)
DeleteHow wonderful that your daughter can stay with you for another week just to be sure all is well. All those fruit tree blossoms hold big promises & hopes for a bountiful crop this year. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary-Lou; I'm so glad that she is able to be with me for another week. It's lovely to see the fruit trees flowering, isn't it?
DeleteI love your waffle station. And I like the idea of having savory waffles as well as sweet.
ReplyDeleteYour fruit tree inventory sounds promising. I hope you have an array of delicious fruit this season.
I have another in-person 1/2 day today, so it’s time to get ready for work. No other Monday plans and we’ll have leftovers for dinner which makes things simple. 😊
Thank you, Taconix. I like to have waffles with a curry before I have one with some syrup. :) I'm hoping to have a good fruit harvest, this year, even though I still have some fruit from last year in the freezer!
DeleteHope you had a good day at work and a relaxed rest of the day. :)
That's too bad that your leg pain is keeping you awake at night. I hope your hip is okay. I have a Hachiya persimmon tree. I love them.
ReplyDeleteYes, Stephenie; I've a blood clot in my right leg, but, the hip is okay. Lucky you to have a Hachiya persimmon tree! I love Hachiya persimmons!
DeleteThat's a beautiful photo of the plum blossom! I'm saying nothing about the waffles photo. If I did say anything it might be along the lines of making your readers jealous when you haven't invited them to brunch. But no, silence is a virtue. (Sniff.)
ReplyDeleteSorry the leg is still having ups and downs, and I do hope it has continued to improve throughout Sunday and into Monday. Fingers crossed for a decent nectarine harvest!!
Ella
Thank you, Ella. Very restrained of you to refrain from commenting about the waffles! :D
DeleteI think the leg is getting better. It's been only a few days since I started the medication.
Yes, hopefully, we'll have a good nectarine harvest, this year. :)
There is something about fruit tree flowers that makes them so pretty! They need to be attractive to pollinators! I hope your leg improves soon. Maybe laying and keeping it raised would help.? Gentle strolls like you've been doing in the garden are probably good also.
ReplyDeleteYes, the fruit trees in flower are lovely, aren't they?
DeleteThank you, Celie. I'm taking it easy and giving my leg time to get better. I was told it was good to do some gentle exercises, so, I'm trying to walk a little bit, every day.
What a good idea to set up a seated waffle station. The blossoms are so pretty. I am looking forward to spring blossoms one day. As we only have wild trees in our garden, they will be white blossoms of the serviceberry, and soon after, white on the pin cherry trees. I am always happy to see them. We have some white snow right now, it came back in the night just to surprise us, but the temperature went above freezing and the snow slipped off the tree branches, with the help of the wind.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bushlady. I'm glad I can cook a few things while seated in my chair, thanks to electric appliances.
DeleteI love seeing the fruit trees in flower. I'm sure you are looking forward to the white snow being replaced by the white flowers of the serviceberry and the pin cherry trees. :)
Such lovely blossom photos. I'm glad you're resting a bit. It must be so good to still have daughter with you. I hope your leg feels better soon. Take care
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon. Yes, it's wonderful to have daughter with me for this week, as well. She's helping with some of the chores and it's just good to have her company. I'm taking it easy and resting my leg; I hope it gets better, soon!
DeleteThe blossoms on your trees are so pretty. Right now one pear is the only one blooming here. The other pear tree has never bloomed. It might be time to replace it.
ReplyDeleteLovely of your daughter to set p the waffle station. Even better that she could extend her visit a little bit.
Take care of that leg!
Thank you, Anne. I hope that your second pear tree will flower this year and you will have a good crop of pears to harvest (and the squirrels will leave them alone!)
DeleteIt's wonderful that my daughter was able to extend her visit! I'm very thankful that her workplace allowed it.
Yes, I'm resting the leg and taking it easy.
Your seated waffle making station gave me a chuckle. You are nothing if not resourceful! I bet they were tasty :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you are on your way to a "fruitful" growing season this year. Fingers crossed.
What did the doctor say as far as time for the healing of your clot? Will it take a while?
Glad it gave you a chuckle, Debra. My daughter and I both like waffles, so, they were a treat.
DeleteI, too, hope it will be a fruitful growing season! :D
The doctor actually didn't say how long it would take for the blood clot to dissolve, but, my daughter read online that it would take 2-3 weeks and given how long I take to recover from even minor bruises, it'll take a bit longer for me. It's going to be two weeks since I first felt the clot, for tomorrow.
