Thursday the Thirteenth

Prompt: Kind
"Conrart and Yuuri from Kyou Kara Maou"

Somehow, "Thursday the Thirteenth" doesn't have quite the same ring as "Friday the Thirteenth", does it?  LOL.

It was a rather hazy morning, but, once the sun had burnt through the haze, it turned out to be sunny and clear in the afternoon.  The forecast said it would go up to 82F today, but, my area only went up to 79F, which was not bad.

I went to bed a little after 3:00 a.m. and woke up once when the alarm went off at 10:00 a.m., turned the porch lights off, fed Dancer and Mama Cat, and went back to bed for another couple of hours!  Once I woke up for the second time, there was no need to rush.  I had my morning cup of tea, said my morning prayers, replied to blog comments, and had a slice of toast with peanut butter for brunch.

In the afternoon, I continued with dusting the family room.  I'm pulling the books off the bookcase, dusting the shelves, and then, putting the books back.  I tried rearranging a couple of the shelves, but, didn't like how it looked, and so, put things back the way they were.  I know I should declutter some of the books, too, but, it is hard for me to decide which ones to declutter!  They are mostly non-fiction books about different crafts, history, gardening, home decorating, and religion.  Currently, they all fit in the bookcases.

I watched the news and a rebroadcast of the Congressional Committee Hearings, spoke with friend R and video chatted with my daughter.

Dinner was rice (cooked with a carrot grated into it), chicken curry, and cucumber salad.  Papaya for dessert.

Today, I am grateful for:

- Feeling well
- Being able to sleep in
- Pleasant weather
- Video chatting with my daughter
- What I was able to accomplish today

Today's joyful activity was relaxing and taking it easy!

Plans for tomorrow include continuing with cleaning the family room and tending to the garden with M.

How was your Thursday?  What are your plans for Friday?

  1. I decluttered a lot of books a few years ago and took them to the charity collection depot and the ones I kept are in storage and they never get looked at. I agree it's very difficult to part with non-fiction books and easier to let go of the fiction somehow. I'm glad you are feeling much better and relaxing. I go for my flu jab today, my husband booked it for me when he went for his as I didn't receive the letter they promised they'd send to me.

    1. I've done several rounds of book decluttering and I keep telling myself that I will probably never re-read the ones I've kept, but, yet, I keep them!
I hope your flu jab went well and you have minimal side effects. Maybe just a sore arm for a day or two and that's all. :)

  2. You got some wonderful sleep didn't you? I love sleep! lol
You are moving along with your fall cleaning. Having the table cleaned off and polished makes a big difference to the room.

I like your fall cleaning and I do some larger type things in the fall too.
In the yard of course, getting things ready for fall and winter.
I planted a couple bushes this week and will continue with other fall cleanup.
Then the big leaf clean up will start.
I compost most of the leaves down. It's a challenge to find places to put them - we have a lot of leaves!
Indoors we gave the mudroom a spruce up when it was taken apart because of the washing machine breaking. (The repairman couldn't fix it as the tub had rusted through - over 30 years old so it was a good machine) We ordered a new one but before it came we did some painting and repairing of certain things.
Now we are doing the kitchen painting we never got to last fall lol
It's looking so nice and fresh and I'm very pleased.

    1. Yes, I got some good sleep, both Thursday morning (I really can't call it night, can I?) and this morning, too (much to Dancer's disgust, although I got up once and fed him).
Thank you, Debra; yes, getting the dining table cleared and polished made a big difference! I wondered if I should put a fall themed table cover, but, decided to wait until November to do that.
Oh, sounds like you are quite busy with sprucing up your home, this fall! I'm sorry your washing machine couldn't be fixed, but, yes, it was time for a new one! I'm sure the kitchen will look lovely after you've painted it! My house could do with a coat of paint both inside and out, but, I'm waiting ... maybe next year.

  3. If all of your books fit on the shelves, I think they can all stay. My shelves, on the other hand, are overflowing with books. My husband keeps adding to them.

    1. Yes, all my books fit on the shelves - mainly because I've stopped buying books! LOL. But, you know how it is...I keep thinking I should downsize and become a minimalist! :D

  4. If all the books fit on the bookcases, do you really need to get rid of any of them? Although you say 'currently fit in the bookcases' so does that mean your wanting to use the space for other things?

I spent today (Friday) with a friend after a last minute change of plan, and tomorrow will be spent at home catching up with a few simple tasks. x

    1. All the books I currently have fit on the bookcases. Most of the shelves are rather full, but, they are not overflowing. I don't really need all the books I have, though, and I feel I should declutter some of them! I don't need the shelf space for anything else, though. I guess I need to eliminate some of the visual clutter...I guess that is what is bothering me more than anything else.
Sounds like a lovely way to spend the day, Eileen, in the company of a friend. :)

  5. I was looking at the bookshelves, too, wondering if I should declutter some. But as long as there is space ....... However, I did find a nice big book in the library book sale room and wondered if I should get rid of another, on the principle of one in - one out!

    1. It is hard to declutter when there is space for the items, isn't it? I've stopped buying books, so, very few new additions to the book shelves (unless someone gives me a book as a gift). I've stopped buying decorative items, too! I like all the items I have and enjoy seeing them, etc., although I don't always use them. I just have this feeling that I have too much and should downsize!

  6. Sounds like you had a really good sleep.

I find it really hard to declutter books. I just enjoy them so much and do re-read several over and over. They are like old friends. They bring me comfort when I am feeling down.

    1. I did have a nice long sleep that night, Sharon. I have some books that I read over and over again, too! I will not declutter those! They are, as you say, like old friends. :)

  7. I'm really enjoying the pictures. Decluttering non-fiction is almost impossible, so sending all good vibes for that!

    1. Thank you, Lyssa.
Yes, decluttering non-fiction is difficult! Although, a couple of my non-fiction books border on fiction! LOL.

  8. That artwork is simply fabulous. Great use of color to evoke emotion.
