Prompt: Farm ("Halloween Farm") |
First of all, I did not get my Covid booster, today! I called the pharmacy to double check they were still doing the walk-in Covid boosters and I was told yes, but, could I please come in on Wednesday, instead. Apparently, they were short staffed, today, and were very busy. I decided I will go in on Wednesday.
Which gave me a free day to...clean! I was in a cleaning mood! I dusted the main rooms and started cleaning the kitchen. I did the stove top and under the burners, the outside of the oven door (the inside requires some serious cleaning, but that's for another day!), the top of the vent hood, the counters, the lower cabinet doors and drawer fronts, and the sink. I did it in stages because I didn't want my hands cramping up on me, but, my hands were fine and didn't cramp. I also cleaned the litter box and swept my bathroom, and took two of the trash bins (the black garbage bin and the green yard waste bin; the blue recycling bin only had a few items in it and didn't need to be emptied) to the end of the driveway.
I spoke with neighbor T in the early afternoon; she said she's feeling well, but, she'll be at the assisted living facility a little longer than she initially thought. Later, in the evening, I called friend R to check on her.
Brunch had been leftover waffles with seeni sambol (spicy onion relish). Dinner was leftover rice and ground turkey keema curry with peach chutney. Which reminds me, I need to do a meal plan for this week, don't I?
It was a warm (high of 80F) day, today, but, partly cloudy. The house remained somewhat cool, but, I didn't have to go outside to warm myself up! Every time I started feeling cold, I did some cleaning, and that kept me warm! LOL!
Today, I am grateful for:
- Being able to get some cleaning done!
- My hands didn't cramp!
- Chatting with friends and neighbors
- What I was able to accomplish
- Ending the month on a positive note
Today's joyful activity was...cleaning! Yes! Really!
Plans for tomorrow - there is a ballot that needs to be filled out!
Bless, thank you so much for enquiring if I am ok. I hadn't been, not for quite some time, and just getting worse. Had a long emergency surgery and am now slowly recuperating. It sure takes longer when one is much older. So kind of you to ask. Thank you again :) XXXXX
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear that you haven't been well and needed surgery, too. I wish you a complete recovery. Yes, these things take longer when one is older; don't try to hurry the period of recuperation because that can lead to further complications. Are you having any help (I know you have a little dog to attend to, as well)? No need to thank me, Ratnamurti; I consider you a friend and I worried when I hadn't seen any updates from you. Hope you get well, soon. I'm sending a healing prayer your way.
DeleteIt sounds like you had a whirlwind of cleaning, but I'm sure that you can bask in the result.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lyssa; some much needed cleaning got done! Then, I did some cooking, today, and now, the stove needs to be cleaned, again! LOL.
DeleteI especially like you daughter's drawing today. You should frame it and use it for Halloween decorations every year.
ReplyDeleteThank you, June. I must suggest framing it to her (she has the drawing up in Berkeley, with her).
DeleteYou did well with your cleaning, I'm never in the mood for it but it has to be done. I hope you will be OK with no after effects following your Covid jab on Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteI don't always feel like cleaning, but, every now and then, I get into a cleaning mood! Then, I run the risk of overdoing things and getting too tired!
DeleteThank you for the well wishes for Wednesday. :)
Cleaning as a way to keep warm, I am not sure I will adopt that method, might opt for a sweater instead. But you do remind me that this would be a good week to clean my oven. My cleaning schedule is very much driven by "being in the mood" or not!
ReplyDeleteI am hoping to do walk-in early voting today at the library, because I also discovered that my library card has expired, so I cannot download the next audiobook I wanted to start yesterday. Hopefully, your jab on Wednesday goes as planned - there has been no trouble getting appointments around here so far, but I am sure it will get busier as the weather gets colder.
Movement generates heat! I'm already wearing two or three layers at any given time!
DeleteHope the voting and library card renewal goes well! Our library has a ballot drop box outside and that's probably what I'll use.
Thank you for the well wishes for Wednesday's jab! :)
Well at least your booster jab hasn't been delayed for too long. It sounds like you had a productive day and completed a lot of your cleaning.
ReplyDeleteHas T recovered properly from her fall? I wondered if the actual healing was taking an age or if the delay in returning home is more to do with her ability to cope alone.
I am hoping I will be able to get the booster shot tomorrow without any further delay. I did have productive day, didn't I? I'm taking it rather easy today, though!
DeleteT seems to have recovered from her earlier fall (she fell again, last week, but, didn't hurt herself). I think the delay in returning home is due to concerns about how will she manage on her own at home. Especially since she has a dog (her daughter is currently caring for the dog, but, her daughter has told me that she's allergic to the dog and doesn't want to look after it permanently).
Hope you manage to get your vaccine tomorrow. Glad you were able to get some cleaning done!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon. :) There's always some cleaning to be done, isn't there?
DeleteI love the Hallowe'en farm picture. You had a very productive cleaning day! I guess today you had milk rice? We had boiled eggs for breakfast. DH drove me to town and came round the store with me. We had another lovely day, not too cool. I rested after lunch.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bushlady, I, too, like the Halloween farm drawing. :)
DeleteI did have a productive day, didn't I? Not quite as productive today, though! Ha, ha, yes, milk rice, with seeni sambol and fish curry! Boiled eggs would make a good breakfast, too, but, I only like hard boiled eggs and only when made into egg salad! I'm glad your DH accompanied you as you shopped, today and you rested after lunch. I hope you are recovering well from your fall.
Oh I thought of you the other day as I was making pear conserve and I had to push the pear puree through a sieve to smooth it out and remove any fibres. My poor hands were in real pain by about halfway through. I had to have a break and was so glad to finish that task.
ReplyDeletePear conserve sounds wonderful! Your poor hands, though! I hope they were OK after you rested for a bit.

ReplyDeleteSorry but I can't resist sharing this with you. It is kind of long but it speaks the truth.

LOL, thank you, Anne! :D
DeleteYou did do some cleaning, didn't you? You did a lot of chores and your kitchen must be all sparkly.
ReplyDeleteThis was smart so that you were able to take it easy after your booster.
Off to read how that shopping side-effect went. lol
I was happy with my bout of cleaning! LOL. The problem is, that perfectionist in me rears her ugly head when I clean! Then, I start noticing all the imperfections and that's when I get carried away! I had to keep telling myself that it was good enough. We'll tackle the vent screen another day. Ditto the yellowed plastic shield around the vent light bulb and the wall behind the stove! But, the stove itself is clean - just in case the gas company tech who is coming to check on the furnace on Monday decides to check the stove burners, too! :D
DeleteI took it easy after the booster, yesterday, and the shopping side effect went very well! :D
I wish I could get in the cleaning mood. Although, the decluttering has made such a difference here. I wouldn't have done anywhere near as much without your encouragement, so thank you. Xx
ReplyDeleteThe cleaning mood doesn't happen very often, but, when it does, I can get quite a bit accomplished! :D
DeleteAw, thank you, Jules; that is such a lovely thing to say. :)
