Rest Area |
First, I had daughter run down to the bakery around the corner to buy some croissants. I made sandwiches with them, with slices of roast chicken breast, to take with us for our lunch. The rest of the roast chicken was frozen for daughter to have when she goes back at the end of the month.
Then, we packed the car with all the things we needed to bring back, closed up her apartment, and set off on our return trip home. Just before we got on the freeway, we stopped to put gas to the car ($2.75/gal.); it takes 3/4 tank of gas each way. I would have preferred to have left a bit earlier, but things took time and it was 10:30 a.m. when we left. We encountered the tail end of the morning rush hour traffic, but the traffic eased up once we left the more built up areas.
Around 12:30 p.m. we pulled into one of the rest areas to have our lunch of croissant sandwiches and fruit and to use the rest rooms. Once again, it was our only rest stop.

Have you been on a road trip, lately?
I'm glad you had a good journey. I hope you won't be too tired - but it was worth the trip! Take care. x
ReplyDeleteI was a little tired, yesterday. So, took it easy and rested. A nice, hot shower helped, too, as well as a good night's sleep. I feel fine this morning. I agree; it was definitely worth the trip!
DeleteGlad you made it back alright :)
ReplyDeleteI had been hoping to drive to Vermont with my daughter this summer but since she'll be in California for 95% of the summer, that plan has been scratched. How far does a drive have to be to qualify as a road trip? My next road trip will probably to one of our state parks or gardens in Florida, there are a couple of them that are about 2 hours away that I would like to visit. I probably won't drive much farther than that.
I think just about any fairly long drive that's not a routine commute can qualify as a road trip. :)
DeleteA nice road trip! Too bad you couldn't take the scenic route on your way home. But as you mentioned, it's a much longer route. Your daughter's purple sari was so pretty!
ReplyDeleteYes, the scenic route would have been a nice option, but it's about a 10 hr. drive; longer with stops en route. A bit too long and tiring for us.
DeleteSo glad you finally got your hamburger! Hope all goes well the rest of the week with good results from your blood test.
ReplyDeleteHugs.

Thank you, Bushlady. Cravings are funny, aren't they? It didn't taste quite as good as I remembered, but I was expecting that, since I can't taste salt/cheese. But it tasted better than I expected. :)
DeleteProud you two are safely home, and had such a lovely trip.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Judy. It was a very good trip. :)
