The Weekend

Rosemary Blossom

The rosemary plant in the front garden is flowering and the bees are loving it:

Bee Enjoying the Nectar

We had a sunny and warm weekend with the highs in the 80s (F).  But, there is a cool down and even some rain in the forecast, so I'm enjoying these days of sunshine and warm temperatures.

Daughter had received the okay from her physical therapist to start driving again, so she practiced driving a bit on both days, just going around the block a couple of times, each day.  She does not like driving and finds it anxiety-inducing, but, she is a good, careful driver.

I am continuing with my daily walking.  I walked for 20 minutes on Saturday and for 25 minutes on Sunday.

On Saturday, I sorted through and organized some of my sewing supplies.  My daughter returned my sewing basket after using it for several years and I put all my hand-sewing supplies, including embroidery thread, in it.  I put all my machine sewing supplies in another plastic basket.  I did some mending on both days and on Sunday, I did some patchwork piecing, as well.

This weekend, I am grateful for:

- Sunny, warm days
- Daughter has been given the okay to start driving again
- Time to relax
- Time to sew
- Daughter's help with various tasks around the house

The weekend's joyful activities have included walking, reading, and sewing.

Plans for Monday include having another donations pick up, laundry, taking the trash cans to the curb, and meal planning for the week.  Maybe some cooking, too.

How was your weekend?  What are your plans for the week?

  1. The weather is autumnal and chilly here, fewer bees around. Busy weekend with family. This week will be spent tidying the house!

    1. I'm sure you were happy to have spent your weekend with your family and I'm sure you'll have the house tidied in no time at all. :)

  2. You know I how I like to see bees on flowers. Nice picture. I find driving anxiety producing, also. I haven't driven in LA, but from what I here, that would be especially anxiety producing. Hopefully, a little more experience will make driving easier for your daughter.

    1. I did think of you, June, when I took the pictures of the bee. I was looking for pollen sacks on its legs, but, didn't see any. Maybe not too many flowers with pollen in the garden, these days.
Driving in LA can be a bit crazy. Daughter also has an issue with depth perception, so that is part of her anxiety as she is never quite sure how close she might get to parked cars on the sides of the road. When she buys herself a car, which she will eventually need to do, she wants one with a warning system if she gets too close to another vehicle (but, she doesn't want a self-driving vehicle).

  3. Your daughter's foot has been a long time healing. Thank goodness she's on the home run at last. I appreciate having the ability to drive and the freedom it brings, but I don't particularly enjoy it and would opt to be driven if I had any choice. Pretty rosemary flowers.

    1. It's been over a year since my daughter injured her foot. Being able to drive is almost a necessity, over here; they are trying to improve public transit, but, it's not as convenient as being able to drive where one wants to go.

  4. I can almost smell the rosemary when I look at the photo. That is a happy little bee.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. The bee was visiting each flower; it must have been hungry!

  5. Lovely photos. I'm glad your daughter was given the ok to drive again even if she doesn't like it too much. I think that in America driving a car (if you don't live in a big city) is really a must as the transport system isn't so good and it does give you a bit of independence.

    1. Thank you, Sharon. Yes, being able to drive is a necessity over here, isn't it?

  6. I liked hearing about your sorting out of your sewing supplies (hand sewing and machine sewing). I enjoy seeing people's sewing supplies. Not necessarily people's sewing rooms but a look into their sewing supply containers. Is that strange? Guess that answer depends on who's asked the question. lol
I'm glad your daughter has been cleared for driving. Even if she doesn't enjoy driving, it is a good thing to be able to do.
I do like driving. I used to drive quite a bit in a former job and did enjoy that aspect of the job.
As a young woman, I'd often visit friends states away, traveling there by myself. Enjoying the drive.

    1. Thank you, Debra. Maybe I'll take a picture of my sewing supplies so you can see. :D Not my fabric stash, but the bits and pieces I sorted out.
Being able to drive is really useful, isn't it? I think daughter will get over her anxiety when she starts to drive on a regular basis. I don't get anxious about driving, but, I get anxious about other things, so, I do understand. Sounds like you really enjoyed driving. :)
