Dancer decided he was a Halloween decoration, too! LOL. I sewed the table runner (the matching cushion covers are on the cushions on another sofa) and the mug was a gift from my sister to my daughter when she was about 3 or 4 years old.
On Thursday, I slept in. I woke up once around 6:30 a.m. (after going to bed around 2:30 a.m.), went back to sleep, and got up at 9:30 a.m.

The trick or treat bucket in the family room was bought when daughter was 5 years old and she forgot her pumpkin treat bucket at home when we drove to her piano teacher's house to trick-or-treat. I stopped at a grocery store and picked up this bucket for $1 or so. The scarecrow is something my mother bought for my daughter who was probably 5 or 6 at the time.
Here's the pumpkin bucket we bought for daughter for her 1st Halloween:

This year, I propped the wreath on the mantelpiece; the scarecrow in the middle of the wreath was bought by my mother at the same time as the scarecrow pick shown in the second picture.

Daughter and I had cold cuts sandwiches for brunch. Dinner will be leftovers; rice and chicken curry, most probably, with dhal, etc.
The autumn display was moved to the dining table and will probably be there until I decorate for Thanksgiving.
On Thursday, I am grateful for:
- Being able to sleep in
- Another sunny and warm day
- Walking for 20 minutes
- Halloween decorations with memories attached
- Daughter being home with me

Today's joyful activity was spending time in the garden, in the sunshine.
How was your Thursday? Do you decorate for Halloween? If so, have you decorated yet?

I do decorate for Halloween but have not been in the room of horrors where all decorations are kept. I keep skillfully avoiding it, plus TheHub is still using the dining room table as his office.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you will have your house decorated well in time for Halloween, Anne. I hope you'll post some pictures for us to enjoy when you've decorated. :)
DeleteI like your decorations and they were fun to see! It's so nice your daughter is with you. I have that pumpkin too. I get it out every year. I think i bought mine decades ago and it is similar to one I had as a child. andrea
ReplyDeleteThank you, Andrea. I'm loving the fact that my daughter is living with me now. :)
DeleteYour Halloween decorations are like my Christmas decorations--everything has a story. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThank you, June; yes, everything has a story. I went through my Halloween decorations a couple of years ago and decluttered them to this point. Everything fits into a plastic bin in the garage, but, daughter can declutter the collection a bit more if she likes.
DeleteYou have amassed a nice collection of Hallowe'en items over the years. I don't decorate for Hallowe'en now, and we don't get any Trick or Treaters since we live out in the bush! DS embellishes his yard for the youngsters to take a spooky walk around, and DGD puts a table of treats by the road for little ones who are unable or uncomfortable going to the door.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bushlady. As I've stated in my response to June's comment above, I decluttered my collection a couple of years ago. What I've kept are mostly daughter's items, plus the table runners, etc., that I sewed. I like the idea of a spooky walk through your DS's garden and you DGD leaving a table of treats for those who prefer not to go to the door. :)
DeleteIt's lovely the way that you do a Halloween, Bless. And I think that it's so important to keep some important things from childhood. Because.... it matters!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ratnamurti. Yes, it is important to keep some sentimental items from childhood. I had to leave most of my sentimental items from my childhood behind when I left the country of my birth because I could take only so much luggage with me. I brought only a few items, including my baby photos and my first year birthday dress (my mother sewed it using a part of her wedding veil; I still have it!)
DeleteI love your autumn/Halloween decorations. I still have a small cauldron of Lily's, which we use to hand out the sweets.X
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jules. Daughter just made two more decorations to hang on the door! :D
DeleteHow fun. Everything looks so festive and isn't it nice that you have things with nice memories that both you and your daughter can enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Debra. Yes, it is nice to have decorations that have memories attached to them. Everything fits into a bin in the garage, so, it is quite manageable. :)
