We had rain all Monday night and all morning on Tuesday. It rained a bit of Tuesday night, too. Some areas of the county received over 4 inches of rain and there were concerns about mudslides in the burn scar areas where the wild fires were in January.

The rain total for my area was about 2.5 inches. Which is quite a lot of rain from one rain storm considering our annual rainfall is about 15 inches on average. Some roads and freeways in my area flooded. As far as I am concerned, though, it rained enough to water the garden, which is a blessing.

In the afternoon, when the rain cleared, I went outside to take some pictures of...you guessed it:

I know, most of you are probably wondering what all the fuss is about, but, any rain is a big deal here, in southern California.

On Tuesday, I was grateful for the rain we received.
Does it rain a lot in your area? How much rain do you get a year on average? Do you get as excited as we do when it rains?

Raindrops on roses - but where are the whiskers on kittens?
ReplyDeleteKittens don't like the rain, but, keep reading... :D
DeleteNow, l will be singing “Raindrops on Roses” from the Sound of Music all day. I won’t mind. I am not so sure about my husband. 😀
ReplyDeleteMaryland averages 44 inches of rain per year.
I'm sure your husband will enjoy your singing, June. He might request you sing a different song after one or two renditions of "A Few of my Favorite Things", though! :D
DeleteWow, you get almost three times what we get!
Those are lovely roses and I particularly like the second one where the colour of the leaves really complements the glowing pink. The lemon photo is great, too. I can imagine that it is a wonderful feeling to see so much rain and actual puddles! We are in a drought and could use some rain, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bushlady. It was lovely to have some proper rain to wash away all the dust of the summer. I hope that you receive the rain you need before too long.
DeleteBeautiful pictures. We haven't had much rain in the Kansas City area for a few months now. I've always loved a good rainstorm, but I think I would dance for joy if we had one now. My dogs would love to plop right down in those puddles you took pictures of.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Hannah Jane. I hope your area gets some rain soon, although, I'm not sure if you want your dogs plopping in any resulting puddles!
DeleteWow that is a lot of rain! It's supposed to rain all weekend here so there may be quite a bit I think. The photos are really beautiful
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly a lot of rain for us. I hope the rain won't interfere with any weekend plans you might have. Thank you so much for saying my photos are beautiful.
DeleteWow! That was a lot of rain. I hope it didn't result in any mudslides.
ReplyDeleteThe photographs of raindrops on roses look beautiful.
And it's lovely to see the lemons beginning to ripen. Mine are back indoors now. I don't want to chance there being an unexpected overnight frost. X
It was a lot of rain for us, Jules, and the higher elevations received snow. And thank you for saying that the photographs of the raindrops on roses look beautiful. My phone camera and I try our best. :) Yes, the lemons should be ripe by the end of the year. I'm glad your lemon trees are being sheltered over winter. Maybe you'll get some lemons next year!
Delete2 1/2 inches of rain for you is quite the event. I'm so pleased you got this rainfall. That's a good amount that will seep down and give the roots of all that is growing a nice big drink.
ReplyDeleteWe have had quite a dry summer but it has rained a few times in October for which I am glad.
It is quite a lot of rain for us at one time. There's no more rain in the forecast for the rest of the month. I'm glad you are getting some rain, although I hope it doesn't cause any basement flooding, etc.
