I didn't have French toast as breakfast for dinner, as planned, but, that's OK. I'll keep that for another time.
On to Week 4:
I haven't put in a grocery order, yet, although I might put in an order later this week. But, this week's meal plan is based on what I have in the fridge, freezer, and pantry:
Brunches: Leftover fried rice (Monday), salads, frozen burritos, bread pudding, scrambled egg and toast
Dinners:
Leftover shirataki noodles stir fry (Monday)
Chicken curry, rice, leftover dhal, moringa curry (some of the moringa pods are ready to be picked), maybe broccoli leaf mallung
Chicken curry and tortillas
Macaroni and cheese with leftover chicken curry (if any) or canned tuna
Leftovers
If I do put in a grocery order before the end of the week, I might buy a bag of frozen gyoza and have that, one night.
How about you? Are you making a meal plan for this week?
Well done! Looks like you have some nice meals planned.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon. Do you eat curry? Would a vegetable curry and rice work for you?
DeleteYou do well with your meal planning. I'm going to do a grocery order today for delivery on Thursday as it is the Bank Holiday weekend this weekend and I will definitely not be making any journeys in the car. We always get stuck in traffic jams living where we do on the coast, no I'll be staying at home, far less stressful :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Eileen. :) I'm trying hard to stick to the meal plans I make, even though I know they are more options than carved in stone!
DeleteI hope you receive all the items you order. Good idea to stay home during the bank holiday weekend and avoid traffic! We don't have a holiday this weekend, but, we'll have one the first weekend in September (Labor Day Monday). Enjoy your week! :)
You have done well sticking to your low budget this month and have had some good food.
ReplyDeleteI will look forward to seeing what you buy to finish up the month.
I don't know what I'm going to make today. Our tomato harvest is starting (yeah!) so I will probably make a salad of tomato, cucumbers and red onion but otherwise, I'm stumped - but I will come up with something.
Thank you, Debra! I am pleased with how the grocery spending has gone, this month! I am still managing with what I bought during the first week! Of course, I'm eating chicken curry and sausages, etc. from the freezer, and they will have to be replenished, but, that's OK. I was able to take a "sneak peek" at this week's grocery ads (it goes into effect, tomorrow) and I see that chicken is on sale again for $.99/lb. as well as apples and grapes. You can expect to see those items on my grocery order! :D
DeleteI'm sure you'll make something delicious to have with that tomato salad! Maybe some grilled chicken?
I had to look up gyoza, and it turns out I have had them before and like them. They look just like the potstickers we get.
ReplyDeleteYes, they are also called potstickers or dumplings; gyoza is the Japanese name for them. I tend to eat too many of them when I have a bag of them in the freezer! :D
DeleteYum. Regine

Thank you, Regine. :)
DeleteMany thanks Bless, this post has inspired me to get on with my meal planning etc... more details in tomorrow's post!
ReplyDeleteI like your ideas for this week's meals. You're doing a good job of sticking to your lists lately. xx
You are welcome, Eileen! Glad to hear that I inspired you with your own meal planning! :D I'm being more disciplined about sticking to my meal plans! It is also helpful to have most of the basic items (chicken curry, etc.) already cooked and frozen! LOL. I pulled out another packet of the frozen chicken curry for this week and there's one more packet left. I will need to cook another tray of chicken and freeze! :)
DeleteAt the moment I am planning to work through any leftovers I can find in the freezer. On my own I have to watch that I eat properly and in reasonable time. I got busy and almost forgot lunch today. I am always impressed with your meal plans.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bushlady. Oh, no, don't forget to eat! Easy to do when one is alone! Eating leftovers that are in the freezer is a good plan! The chicken curry I pulled out from the freezer to thaw hadn't thawed, so I made myself a hamburger, instead, for tonight's dinner! It wasn't even in the meal plan! LOL.
DeleteHow very organised you are, sadly we're a bit 'what's in the cupboard' cooks! I'd love the home made bread, butter and peach jam, yes very yum.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Chris; I'm trying to be organized, but, don't always manage it! But, trying counts! The homemade bread with butter and my homemade jam was delicious! :)
DeleteI've already made my plan for this week, but fried rice will definitely be on the menu next week :)
ReplyDeleteFried rice is always on the menu, here! Even when I don't actually write it down in the meal plan! Hope you'll enjoy your fried rice, next week. :)
