Tuesday

Today was a relatively quiet day.  I spent the morning on the computer, then, practiced the piano, brought in the empty trash bins, walked up and down the driveway for 15 minutes, and put away the load of laundry I did, yesterday.  I watched a cooking show or two on TV in the afternoon, finished knitting the hat I was making, and watered the front garden.

Later in the evening, I had my first piano lesson for this year.  It's hard to believe that I have been taking piano lessons for one year, now!  I received three new songs to learn so that will keep me busy!

Afterwards, I spoke with family and friends on the phone, did the dishes, cleaned the stove,  and packaged some of the chicken thighs I had bought and froze them.

I still haven't made a meal plan for this week, but, daughter asked me to keep one tray of chicken out for her to cook and there is a piece of beef that I want to roast, tomorrow.  Yesterday (Monday), I made the sauteed salmon for dinner and we had that with rice and a side salad, with strawberries for dessert.  Today, breakfast had been a banana, lunch was rice with turkey meatball curry, sauteed cabbage, and lentil curry; I had a croissant with some peach jam with a cup of tea at 5:30 p.m., and dinner was the last kufta with blueberries for dessert.  Daughter ate rice and leftover salmon for her dinner.

Today, I am grateful for:

- A quiet day without any drama

- Piano lessons

- Phone calls with family and friends

- The garden in which to walk

- A warm house

Today's joyful activity was playing the piano.

Plans for tomorrow include a possible gift exchange with one of my aunts and cousins (they have said they will drop off gifts at my front door) and some housework.

How was your Tuesday?  What are your plans for Wednesday?

  1. It doesn't seem like a whole year since you started your piano lessons. If you think back to when you started, do you like the progress you've made?

    1. It does seem hard to believe it's been a whole year, doesn't it? I am pleased with the progress I've made, although I can see that I could have done much better if I had practiced more!

  3. One year? That's brilliant and well done for sticking with it. What songs are you learning now?

    1. Thank you, Eileen. One new song is "Come Back to Sorrento". Another is a polka and the third song's title is in Russian, but, S said it means "Dance". S photocopied the music from one of her books and gave me. I started on the Come Back to Sorrento and Dance, yesterday. My daughter taught herself to play the Polka, in the evening!

  4. Drama free days are the best! Piano playing is pretty good too!

  5. That sounds like a pleasant quiet day, and amazing to think that you have been playing piano for a year now!
My Tuesday was a little busier. I decided to do some chores before going grocery shopping, (first time this year). It wasn't busy around lunchtime but one store had hardly any produce left! The other store is expensive but the iceberg lettuce I got for CAD$3.45 was huge and heavy, so not so bad. I got most of what I wanted in the end.

    1. I like quiet days! I'm very pleased that I was able to continue with the piano lessons.

I'm glad you were able to get most of what you wanted when you went grocery shopping. Stores seem to be selling out of more products lately, but, I was able to stock up on a few items so I am glad.

  6. There's a lot to be said for a quiet day without drama. I feel as though I'm going round in circles at the at the moment. Eat, sleep, teach, repeat. The dreary weather is doing little to lift my spirits.
I can't think you've been taking your piano lessons for a year now. That has gone quickly and it's great you're enjoying them. You must be really pleased with how you've progressed. X

    1. I'll take quiet days over drama-filled days, any time, Jules, especially since I am wondering if this is the "calm before the storm" as events continue to unfold.

I'm very pleased with how the piano lessons are coming along. But, I am realizing that I need to go back and replay the old pieces on a regular basis; otherwise, I tend to forget them!

  7. A quiet day, yes - but a productive day nonetheless.
Those are the days that build a life.

I took my Christmas tree down this past Thursday and got things all organized and put away in my "holiday closet" in the spare room.
So that's a big chore done.
I like to leave the tree up until after my mother's birthday which is Jan 13th.
We used to take it down after the 6th but after she passed away, I pushed it back to the 13th.
She always loved Christmas trees and I like doing that in her memory.

    1. Debra, that is such a lovely reason to keep the tree up a little longer! I finally took down all the decorations, yesterday!
