Cloudy Wednesday

Sleepy Kitty

It was a cloudy day, today.  I practiced the piano in the morning and dusted the living room, dining area, and family room (since I didn't get around to doing it earlier in the week).  I also watered the house plants and took the opportunity to toss four small plants that didn't survive my neglect!  I've sown the last packet of cat grass seeds in those pots and a certain kitty will be getting a treat in a couple of weeks, if they grow!  Later, I did two loads of laundry and I joined another row of 10 granny squares.  I even took a short nap on the sofa!

Neighbor E stopped by to ask how the water heater was doing and I told him it has been working well after it was repaired.  Neighbor S called, too, and, later, I called friend R.

Daughter and I had doughnuts for breakfast and I had a bowl of soup for lunch.  She had leftovers from the dinner S sent over, yesterday, for her dinner and I had a tortilla with the last of the madeover roast beef.  The last of the pomegranates and tangerines for dessert.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Working appliances
- Warm wool socks (ones I knitted for myself)
- Caring neighbors
- Leftovers
- What I was able to accomplish today

My joyful activity today was crocheting (and napping, too!)

Thursday's To Do List:
- Vacuum
- Dust/tidy my bedroom
- Paperwork/filing
- Do one decluttering/organizing task
- Practice the piano

It's supposed to rain, tomorrow, so I don't have to water the garden, this week!

How was your Wednesday?  What are your plans for Thursday?

  1. Oh doesn't Dancer look comfortable - so inviting to join him in a cuddle. Good luck with the kitty grass - Dancer is one lucky kitty.

    1. He does look comfortable, doesn't he? He was all curled up when I went to make the bed and I didn't have the the heart to disturb him, so...I think this is something cat people will understand...I left him to sleep and the bed unmade until later! Then, of course, he got right back up on the made bed and slept, again! LOL.

  2. Sounds like you had a nice, calm, productive day. Is your daughter finding her work setup there working well for her?

    1. It was a good day, June. Yes, I think my daughter is finding the work setup here works well for her. I try not to make too much noise and she usually has headphones on so she can listen to her music, anyway and can close the door to her bedroom if she likes. She prefers to do the Zoom meetings at the dining table with a blank white wall behind her and tells me in advance when she has meetings so I know now to intrude on her by mistake. Even so, one time, I did have to dart in and out, behind her, to answer the front door when one of my cousins dropped off some belated holiday gifts, but, she assured me it was fine - her colleagues are also working from home and one shares the office room with her husband and another has a baby who can sometimes be heard in the background. If I practice the piano during the daytime, I ask her if it will disturb her or wait until she's taking a lunch break. I'll probably wait until she's done with work to vacuum, today. :)

    2. Oops, that should be "I know NOT to intrude"! Should proof read before publishing!

  3. That was thoughtful of E to check on your water heater.

Dancer looks so comfortable ... he certainly knows how to relax!

    1. Yes, it was very thoughtful of him to do so, wasn't he?

I think we can all learn something from Dancer and his ability to relax! :D

  5. I guess Dancer has the lockdown well-organized - nap, eat, sleep, eat, nap? Good to know that he is happy and well-adjusted while the rest of us still wonder how much longer we will deal with this pandemic!
I've got a large crock pot of chili on the go today. Yesterday we had salmon. I've now run out of potatoes but there is a small can of potatoes lurking around if we need them, also enough frozen fries. We are fine for pasta and rice so I don't need to shop yet. I wonder if we will ever get used to a future like the old days when we didn't think twice about going to the store?

    1. I was thinking, just the other day, that Dancer is a very good example of not worrying, trusting, being hopeful, persevering, and making the best of the current circumstances. He doesn't worry if he will be fed, he trusts me to provide for him, to have enough tuna and kibble on hand; he is always hopeful for a treat whenever I am in the kitchen and persevering with his begging, whether I give him a treat or not, and he never lets anything bother him and will take every opportunity to have a nap! Maybe there is a lesson in there for the rest of us, too?

Chili sounds good. I think it will be a while before we go to the stores without thinking too much about it, Bushlady. I know that, for me, at least, it will be a long time before I go grocery shopping in person!

  6. A friend of mine once said I reminded her of a cat - very happy to lie around being lazy, but then always ready to spring into action with boundless energy!!
I do like Dancer's blanket. Will we get to see your granny square blanket, when complete?

    1. You were not being lazy - you were conserving your energy for when it is needed! :D

Yes, I will post pictures of the granny square blanket when I make some progress on it. :)

  7. That's a really pretty blanket Dancer is lying on.
    Did you make it?

    1. Yes, I did, Debra. It was one of my "stash buster" projects one year, to use up odds and ends of yarn!
