July Week 5 meal plan options were planned with the knowledge that daughter was coming home on Friday night (August 1) and I had planned to order some groceries earlier that day to have half and half, etc., on hand for her morning coffee. I also bought some chicken when I put in that grocery order and, as mentioned in my previous post, I had received additional free groceries when the store gave me another customer's groceries in addition to mine!
Thesewere my meal plan options for July Week 5:

Dinners: Rice and salmon with tomato chutney, broccoli or sauteed beans; rice and chicken curry with dhal and beets; beef pepper steak with vegetables and rice; Breakfast for dinner (?), ramen noodles soup; leftovers; maybe patties if I feel up to making them, or something different!

LOL.)
Dinner: Scrambled eggs, sliced bolillo roll toast
Snacks/Desserts: Hot cheetos, glass of chocolate milk which I froze partially to make a slushie/frozen milk

As always, I am grateful to have access to a variety and abundance of food, with the question being "What are we having for dinner?" as opposed to, "Are we having dinner?". Not everyone is as blessed.
Are you making a meal plan this week?
Do you and your daughter enjoy the same kinds of food? Do you think it will be easier with meals now that she is home or more difficult?
ReplyDeleteI am doing a sort-of meal plan. It's not working out so well!
My daughter and I enjoy some of the same kinds of food, such as rice and curries, but we also like different things. She says I'm pickier than she is and I think she's probably right! LOL. Currently, I am doing the cooking and making sure to cook the food she likes to eat, but, I think, eventually, she will start meal prepping for herself and that will be fine, too. :)
DeleteVery good way to look at things. We get to say, "What are we having for dinner?" instead of, "Are we having dinner?" When I'm tired of thinking of what to have for dinner, I will try to remember that.
ReplyDeleteThere are too many people in this world who don't have the luxury of choosing to eat what they want or as much or as often as they want. It's something I remind myself of, every so often.
DeleteHi! Thank God we have access to abundance of food, for sure! I love scrambled eggs (or eggs any way...sunny side up, poached, etc.) with toast! Such a delicious and wholesome breakfast!
ReplyDeleteIt has been very hot and humid here in Montreal and yesterday our air quality was very bad due to the wildfires. My appetite for food has been minimal in this heat. Today was a little cooler and the air fresher, which was a welcomed relief. I ate more today that I have been, which is good.
I don't make meal plans, especially in the summer because of the heat.
Thank you so much for sharing. God bless you.
Hi Linda. Scrambled eggs and toast or fried potatoes is a favorite meal in my house. :)
DeleteI've been hearing about the heat and humidity and the wildfires over in Canada. Some light meals of salads and/or sandwiches or smoothies are good when it is so hot.
I'm not always good at making meal plans or, rather, following through with them, but, I think that, for me, it helps to have some sort of idea. :)
I always love your meal plans, because to me they tend to be more exotic than mine. And reading yours, I intended to get some bolillo rolls but didn't. I had a week of not going to the grocery store and really have enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anne. The bolillo rolls I bought this time weren't that good. They were very dry. I think I will make a bread pudding with the leftover rolls. I'm glad your week without grocery shopping turned out so well. :)
DeleteWe who have enough food are truly blessed
ReplyDeleteYes, we are, Angela.
DeleteSome great ideas, Bless. I still haven't completed a meal plan for this week, which I'm rather cross with myself about.
ReplyDeleteI love that you felt obliged to buy a doughnut :)
Thank you, Jules. Don't be cross with yourself; just go with what you feel like having this week and then, plan ahead for next week. I've already gone off the plan and it's only the second day! :D
DeleteOf course it would be churlish to park outside a donut shop without going in and buying one - good excuse, I like it!
ReplyDeleteEspecially since I parked right in front of its front door! :D
