And here's how it worked out:

Dinner: Rice, leftover salmon, broccoli
Snacks/Desserts: Mandarins, chocolate wafers, cereal

Tuesday:

Dinner: Pizza, chicken alfredo, roasted garlic bread, mini cinnamon rolls (we were celebrating the fact that we had made the last run to unload all of daughter's boxes and she had officially completed her move without any mishaps)

Wednesday:
Brunch: Leftover pizza/pasta
Dinner:  Rice, chicken curry, broccoli, tomato chutney
Snacks/Desserts: Mini cinnamon rolls, fruit

Thursday:
Brunch: ???  We ate something, but, I didn't keep track - it might have been the last of the leftover pizza
Dinner: Hamburger patties with or without bread in lieu of a bun, corn on the cob, cucumber salad
Snacks/Desserts: Fruit, maybe a granola bar (daughter)?

Friday:
Brunch: Egg salad sandwiches
Dinner: Ramen noodles
Snacks/Desserts: Bananas, nectarines, chocolate wafers, cereal

Saturday:
Brunch: French toast, bacon

Snacks/Desserts: Fruit, cereal

And that was how the week's meals turned out to be.  I went off the plan a little bit, but, it worked out quite well.  I found it difficult to keep track of our snacks, especially what daughter snacked on, but, I made sure that we had some fruit each day.

Moving on to this week, here's my meal plan for August Week 2:

Brunches: Uppuma (Monday), French toast with bacon (Tuesday); toasted bagels with butter, tuna or egg salad sandwiches, chicken curry sandwiches; salads; cereal and milk, maybe waffles?

Dinners: Kimbap (Korean rice roll/daughter; Monday),  hamburger patty with rice and ketchup (me; Monday); Sauteed chicken with boxed pasta mix, broccoli, and leftover garlic bread; Fried rice; Ramen noodles, shrimp curry with rice and cucumber salad; Leftovers; or something else!

Snacks/Desserts: Toast with butter and peach jam (me; Monday), Fruit (Asian pears from the garden, bananas, plums, apples, mandarins), granola bars, Cheetos, granola bars, ice cream

That is the plan.  We might or might not go off the meal plan.  I know that daughter is planning to get together with some friends over the weekend, so she might have dinner with them.

How about you?  Are you making a meal plan for this week?

  1. I enjoy seeing your meal plan post.
I'm not doing a very good job here. Husband has some dietary restrictions now and it's really throwing me off course. I have to rethink things a little

    1. Thank you, Sharon.
It's hard to meal plan to accommodate dietary restrictions. Maybe if you do a search for recipes that accommodate those dietary restrictions, you might be able to find some inspiration.

  2. I still maintain my meal plan is merely a suggestion and is always subject to change. Your meals sound very good and of course you needed the cinnamon rolls celebration.

    1. I like the concept of it being a suggestion, Anne. I tried doing a strict meal plan, but, it rarely worked out for me and then, I felt like a failure. Options or suggestions are much better. :)
Ah, yes, the cinnamon rolls were much needed! They were delicious!

  3. My meal plan is to clear the fridge! I think it's mushroom & cheese omelette with coleslaw tonight and then on Thursday...pizza from next door? We're leaving on Friday for a week away

  4. Not a detailed meal plan here except to eat at home more. Even if I take snacks in the car, if I get hungry while we're out, I don't want to wait until we get home to have lunch or whatever. But, I'm aware and working on it. :)

    1. I'm often tempted to get food to go (still not eating out) when I am out and about, especially if my daughter is with me. I've already had two take out meals, so far, this month. It does give me a break from cooking, though. :D
