On Sunday

Strawberries

On Sunday, I went to the pharmacy to pick up two medication refills that were ready.  I received a 40% off one full priced item, so I bought myself a bar of chocolate to share with my daughter when she comes home.

Then, I went to the dollar store that is next door to the pharmacy.  I didn't need anything, but, I found plenty of items I wanted!  LOL.  I bought a large gift bag for the baby quilt I made and two packages of colored tissue paper.  All the large gift bags I have are Christmas themed and I couldn't use them to give a gift for a little girl's birthday.  Then, I bought some frozen burritos that both my daughter and I like; the store doesn't always have these burritos and I didn't have any in my freezer, so I bought six of them to have on hand.  I also bought some ice cream bars and a package with two slices of frozen key lime pie.  In addition, I bought four cans of lemon lime soda.  I spent $20 and change at the dollar store.

I had considered buying some square foil baking pans for when I make desserts to take to my cousins, etc., but, I didn't buy them. At least, not on this shopping trip.

After I came home, I did three loads of laundry, including my bed sheets, the sofa dust covers, and clothes.

Later, I had leftover rice and curries for a late lunch/early dinner.  There were homegrown strawberries for dessert (along with one of the ice cream bars I bought):

Homegrown Strawberries

Friend E texted me to let me know that she had a safe flight home and she enjoyed seeing me.  I texted her back to say that I enjoyed her visit and hope to see her again, soon.

On Sunday, I was grateful for:

- My medication refills were available
- Deals at the dollar store
- Working appliances
- Emailing and texting with friends
- Leftovers for dinner

Sunday's joyful activity was video chatting with my daughter.

Monday's To Do List:

- Call the radiology clinic to schedule appointment
- Clean out fridge
- Take the trash cans to the curb
- Water the garden
- Put away laundry

How was your Sunday?  What are your plans for Monday?

  1. Maybe the shopping side effect is now from going to the pharmacy for medicines, not just vaccines! You got some good deals. There's none better than home grown strawberries.

    1. You might be right about the shopping side effect, Celie! :D The homegrown strawberries are small, but, sweet.

  2. The strawberries would be delicious, straight off the vine! We have masses of wild strawberry plants alongside our road, and the other day I could smell them as I walked along. But with dogs walking there, and vehicle fumes, they are best left for the wildlife to enjoy.

    1. The strawberries were sweet and delicious, Bushlady. I am sure you are wise to leave the wild strawberries along your roadside to the wildlife to enjoy; you wouldn't want to ingest any of the not so desirable things that might be on the fruit growing so close to where dogs walk and vehicles travel. :)

    1. Thank you, Linda. The strawberries were very sweet. The dish is from a set of Currier and Ives print dishes I bought from a thrift store, many, many years ago, for $0.10 a piece! :D

  4. That was a good lot of cheaper buys, Bless. We have $2 shops in New Zealand, plus outlet shops for non-perishable food and end of line skin care etc. I do get a few things at the $2 shops. And it does feel so good to save a bit of money!!

    1. Thank you, Ratnamurti. The name of the dollar store is a bit misleading! It used to be a true dollar store a few years ago, with everything sold being just $1, but, now, the base price is $1.25 and some of the food items go up to $5.00. Even so, one can find some bargains there. I think it makes sense to shop these stores to take advantage of the bargains.
I hope you are keeping well, Ratnamurti.

  5. How lovely to have fresh strawberries.
I do like the 1.25 store, however I find that some items are now more expensive than they are on sale elsewhere. I have to really watch what I buy.

    1. I'm enjoying picking my own strawberries. I must think about buying more strawberry plants, next year.
Yes, the $1.25 store! They had some lovely embellishments for cards, etc., and I thought of you! You are right about some items being more expensive than on sale elsewhere. One really does have to know the prices. Or, go for the convenience of picking up the items from one store instead of going to another store.

  7. You had a good productive day with your medicine pickup and your Dollar Store visit. And then you did 3 loads of laundry too.
You picked up a few good things at the Dollar Store. That is good that your burritos were in stock.
The strawberry plant is so pretty. As is the bowl of fruit.
