No Painters on Tuesday

Waiting is Tiring

I was up early on Tuesday morning.  By 6:30 a.m., I had the last few items including the plant stands and piano stool removed from the living room, the front door opened, and the back gate unlocked, waiting for neighbor E and his painter to arrive.  And Dancer and I waited and waited and waited, all day.  I said my morning prayers, swept the living room and dining area, brought in the emptied trash cans, picked blueberries and peaches, cleaned the kitchen a little bit, and watched my neighbor's truck leave his driveway.  I wondered if he was going to buy the paint or pick up the painter, but, the truck didn't return. Then, I wondered if he would show up in the afternoon, but, he didn't.  I honestly think he either forgot or he meant a different day, although he said Tuesday.  Or, perhaps the painter was not free.  I don't have his phone number to call him to find out what happened.  So, I will wait until I see him again.  Maybe we can reschedule the painting for another day.  I just hope he and the painter don't show up on Wednesday morning, instead, as I have my scan appointment to go to!

I am happy that I didn't take down the altar.

In the afternoon, I started on another sewing project.  I am using fabric I have in my stash and I'll post pictures once I have completed the project.

I spoke with aunt C in the evening and with friend R.  Later, I chatted with my daughter.

On Tuesday, I was grateful for:

- Blueberries and peaches from the garden
- Leftovers for brunch and dinner
- Chats with family and friends and emails with friends
- Projects to work on while waiting for the painter to show up
- My fabric stash

My joyful activity was sewing.

Wednesday's To Do List:

- Scan appointment
- Order and pick up groceries
- Leave a note for gardener M in case he arrives before I return from the scan
- Cook something for dinner
- Remake daughter's bed with fresh bedding
- Pick up daughter from the airport

I am also planning to wake up early on Wednesday morning, just in case my neighbor and the painter show up!  I'm not sure how long it'll take to paint the ceiling, but, there might be enough time to get a coat of paint on before I have to leave for my scan appointment.

How was your Tuesday?  What are your plans for Wednesday?

  1. It's really frustrating when you wait in all day and the person doesn't show up. I've had that a couple of times recently, waiting in for people to quote for jobs I want done and they don't show or either bother to phone and reschedule. I hope you can see your neighbour again and get it sorted.

How exciting that your daughter is back with you again. I hope you have a fantastic time together.

I've seen your circle photos but for some reason I can't comment on that post ... Blogger is still playing up for me! Anyway, many thanks for joining in. You found such a good selection. I especially like the metal coaster and the bobbins. xx

    1. Hi Eileen, yes, it can be frustrating to wait all day for someone who doesn't show up. But, I found other things to do while I waited. I am hoping I will see my neighbor, soon, and I must get his phone number so I can call him if I need to!
My daughter is coming down for an extended weekend on this visit and I am looking forward to it. But, later, at the end of summer, she is planning to move down, permanently and that will be lovely.
I'm sorry you weren't able to comment on the Circles photos. But, thank you for hosting the monthly photo challenges and for the comments; I'm glad you like the coaster and the bobbins. :)

  2. You got a lot done despite waiting around. It's awful when you're just hanging on. Time drags so much. I hope that it gets sorted soon.
Please pass on gentle scritches to Dancer for me.

    1. Thank you, Lyssa; I did find things to do while I waited and that helped. Dancer says thank you for the gentle scritches. :)

  3. Waiting for someone to show up is hard, but you found other productive things to do. Maybe next time you see your neighbor, you can get his phone number. Since you have everything moved, hopefully he will be able to do the job soon.

    1. Yes, waiting for someone to show up can be a bit stressful, but, I made good use of my waiting time. I really must get my neighbor's phone number. Hopefully, the painting can be rescheduled for next week. That would be fine, too, and it will give me time to decide which items will go back on the shelves, etc. :)

  4. Dancer looks so relaxed. Your roses in the garden have been a delightful sight. Good luck with the scan today. Waiting on trades people is frustrating, at least for me but thankfully the trades people I'm waiting on are garden contractors, so I get to be outside waiting & weeding while I wait (col). Is your daughter's visit for a specific amount of time or is this the final move home to you?

    1. Dancer knows how to chill, doesn't he? How are your two doing?
Thank you for the well wishes, Mary-Lou.
Yes, waiting for people to show up is a bit stressful, but, like you, I find other things to do while I wait.
My daughter is coming down for just a short visit. She will work remotely on Thursday and Monday and she has a day off on Friday. She is coming down specifically for her friend's daughter's baptism as she has been asked to be the baby's godmother. :) She is planning to move down permanently at the end of summer.

  5. How precious is Dancer! Lovely photo of her. Cats are wonderful in that they teach us to slow down, relax, just enjoy the moment.

    1. Thank you, Linda. Dancer seems to spend a lot of his time sleeping now that he is getting to be an older cat. His sleeping spots change, though! Sometimes on the sofa, sometimes on the coffee table, occasionally on the dining table if I leave a chair pulled out a little to help him jump up there, and sometimes on the beds!

  6. I hope you can get the painting rescheduled soon. I'd been waiting today for the air conditioner service, but they just called to reschedule for next week. Its just a routine service so that can wait. My furnace broke down the last day I wanted it on! I don't know if the technician can fix it now or wait until fall. I'm so glad it worked all winter. Enjoy your daughter's visit!

    1. Thank you, Celie; I spoke with my neighbor today and I think that maybe I misheard him, earlier. I thought he said Tuesday, but, now, I am wondering if he said Thursday because today, he said the painter will be here tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m.!
Oh, I'm so sorry your furnace broke down on the last day you wanted it on! I hope you can get it fixed before you need to heat the house. Hope you get your air conditioner serviced next week, before you need to put it on!
Thank you; waiting to pick up daughter in a little while. :)

  7. Sometimes being a cat must be so peaceful - no need to worry about people not showing up, it's quieter without them! I hope your painting gets done soon.

    1. Yes, being a cat can be peaceful, at least until Mummy decides to vacuum (we do NOT like that noisy monster) or she doesn't rush to obey the demands for more fresh tuna! LOL.
I've been told that the painter will be here at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday. So, maybe I misheard him and thought he meant Tuesday (I really need to get my hearing checked!)

  8. Oh no! I hope it was just an error. Maybe you'll hear from him soon!

    1. Thank you, Sharon; yes, I think it was an error on my part and I misheard Thursday as Tuesday (with the "u" in Thursday being pronounced much as the "u" in Tuesday). I saw my neighbor this evening and he said the painter will be here tomorrow morning, bright and early!

    1. Thank you, Anne. I've been told that the painter will be here on Thursday. I must have misunderstood my neighbor because of his accent.

  10. Reading through the comments, I see that he is coming on Thursday.
So that means you have a freshly painted living room as I type this
    Yeah!
You did get quite a few things done while you waited so not all lost, right?

    1. Yes, I do have a freshly painted room now and it's all looking nice and clean. :)
I did get lots of things done while I waited, so, time well spent. :)
