More Grocery Shopping on Friday

Daylilies

Another of the daylily bulbs that M gave me is flowering.  I love the double colored blooms.

On Friday, I slept in, since I didn't have to wake up early.  In the afternoon, I went to the Armenian grocery store and did a little more grocery shopping, buying some beef shoulder steaks @ $5.49/lb. (I bought just over 2 lbs.), fruits and vegetables, bread rolls, and two cans of coconut water to share with my daughter.  I spent a total of $30.22.  Added to the $45.64 I already spent on Wednesday, that brings my June grocery spending to $75.86.

Some of what I bought will be cooked and sent up with my daughter when she goes back on Monday.  She is scheduled to have a medical procedure done after she goes back and she asked me to prepare a few meals for her so she doesn't need to cook until she has had time to recover.

I opened a can of corned beef and sauteed the contents with sliced onions, diced tomato, chili powder, and lemon juice, etc.  We used that as a sandwich filling for the bread rolls I bought for both our brunch and our dinner.

M was here in the evening to tend to the garden.  He brought me a new yellow chrysanthemum plant as a thank you gift for some jars of jam I had given him, earlier.

Later, I did some sewing while daughter did some crocheting.

On Friday, I was grateful for:
- Being able to sleep in!
- Being able to find some good prices on groceries at the ethnic grocery store
- A safe drive to the store and back
- M's help with the garden
- Fresh peaches

Friday's joyful activity was spending some time sewing and working on crafts projects with my daughter.

How was your Friday?  What are your plans for the weekend?

  1. Your day lilies are beautiful. At our old house, we had quite a few different kinds, but here we only have two colors, but they are pretty all the same.

    1. Thank you, June. A long time ago, my mother planted some daylilies and they were all yellow and they looked so cheerful when they bloomed. But, they all died! After that, I didn't bother with them until M brought me some bulbs and planted them. I am hoping that they will come back, next year and rebloom.

  2. The daylilies are gorgeous. I haven't done any grocery shopping here, after all. Lily and I went paddleboarding on the lake this morning and I'm far too tired. It will wait until tomorrow.
I hope your daughter's medical procedure is painfree and successful. Xx

    1. Thank you, Jules. Paddleboarding with Lily takes precedence over grocery shopping any day, in my opinion. :) Hope you will find some good deals when you shop, tomorrow.
Thank you, again. I, too, hope her procedure will be painfree and she will recover quickly.

    1. Thank you, Sharon. Oh, no! I didn't realize that some people are allergic to daylilies! Just admire them from a safe distance!

  5. You are right to be grateful for a safe drive to the store and back. I try to remember to be thankful for safe journeys, too.

    1. I always say a prayer when I start to drive and I am always thankful for a safe journey. There are so many accidents on our streets and so many mishaps when we are out and about.

  6. You had a few busy days in a row so I'm sure sleeping in felt really nice.
Your trips to the Armenian store are always fruitful. No pun intended lol
That's nice that you will be able to help your daughter out by preparing some meals for her since she will be unable to cook for a few days.
Pretty daylilies. And they look nice in front of the scaredy cat flowers that are such a nice color.

    1. The busy days continue, Debra, but, I haven't had time to write about them! LOL.
I love the prices at the Armenian store, but, this time, the raspberries weren't that good as they were already starting to spoil by the very next day.
Yes, I've cooked a few dishes for my daughter to take back, with her.
Thank you; I like the color combination of the daylilies and the scaredy cat flowers.
