On Wednesday, I ordered groceries and picked up the items in the early evening. I was in a bit of a rush (it was a somewhat busy day, but, I'll write about it in a different post), so didn't take a picture of the items, but I've copies and posted the receipt.
Once again, I've set myself a budget of $150 for the month of June, partly because daughter is visiting and she has requested a few prepared meals for her to take back as she won't be able to prepare meals for herself for several days when she goes back. I also changed my meal plan for the week to include a celebratory dinner when she arrived in the evening (sauteed salmon, boxed wild rice mix, cucumber salad). Almost everything I bought were on sale with coupons and other discounts. Eggs have come down to $4.99/doz. I bought a few essentials, one or two splurge items and some treats! I didn't buy a lot of fresh produce as I intend to go to the ethnic store later this week.
My total came to $45.64.
Have you gone grocery shopping yet in June?

That's a good price for Cheerios. We eat a lot of cereal, so I probably would have stocked up for that price. Luckily, we got a box for free recently with our CVS coupons.
Thank you for sharing this! Next week the Montreal bus and metro are planning a strike, operating only during rush hours, so I need to go tomorrow and get a large grocery order, which the store will deliver for me. I don't have a car and use public transit.
I appreciate your posts, thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you, Linda. I'm sorry the buses and metro are planning a strike; it makes things more difficult for those who rely on public transit. I hope you will be able to go and put in your grocery order to be delivered to you. Do you have to go in person to order the groceries or can you do the ordering on-line?
I'm glad that your egg price has finally come down to a respectable level. I haven't had Cheerios for a while but they were a staple when DS was a toddler, because I could put some in a small lidded container and take them with us for when he wanted a snack to nibble on.
I was so happy to see that the egg prices had come down! I still think that $4.99 is a lot to pay, but, it's better than $9.99! My daughter and I both like Cheerios. :)
You got some good deals on this shopping trip. Nice price on those cheerios for sure. It's nice that your daughter is able to come for an extended weekend. She must still be there now. Has she been bringing some things each trip to ease the big move?
Thank you, Debra. Yes, I got some good deals and I was very happy. :) Daughter is still here as I type this (in Zoom meetings all morning and afternoon). Yes, she has been bringing a checked suitcase full of stuff each trip down - winter clothes she will not need until next winter, some books and games, etc. :)

ReplyDeleteThank you, June. I was very happy to get the cereal at that price, but, free is even better. :)
DeleteI have not been shopping yet but did a huge multi store shopping trip the last week of May and should not need anything but fresh produce for a while.
ReplyDeleteYou did well to stock up on things when you did, Anne, and this is the right time for fresh produce, isn't it? :)

DeleteYou got some great deals using your coupons, Bless. I'll be going grocery shopping tomorrow, but first I need to write a list :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jules. I was happy with the deals I got. Yes, make your list first and then, shop; hope you, too, will find some good deals. :)
