My decluttering goal for October is 10 items a day for a total of 310 items. Unfortunately, I am quite behind with my decluttering, as you can see (I seem to be wanting to at least skim through each book that I am decluttering and listen to each CD), but, I am hopeful that I will be able to catch up by doubling up in the next few days.

Day 12: 9 additional cookie cutters, 1 plastic tray, and some plastic frosting/icing nozzles and tips thrown in as a bonus! (The cookie cutters will be donated, the tray was recycled, and the tips were tossed.)
Day 12: Cookie Cutters, Tray, Icing Nozzle Tips |
Day 13: 1 knitting magazine given to me by a cousin, in 1974, before I left Hong Kong to come to the USA; 6 books, 2 cookie tins (I had stored items in them but they have been emptied); 1 ceramic cookie jar (received as a gift, one Christmas, filled with biscotti).
Day 13: Books, a Magazine, and Containers |
Day 14: 5 more books, 4 CDs, 1 candy tin
Day 14: 5 books, 4 CDs, 1 Candy Tin |
Day 15: 5 books, 1 booklet, 4 CDs |
That's an impressive decluttering. I know I shouldn't say this, but that candy tin looked so cute. And those books also look interesting - you've got awesome taste.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lyssa. Yes, I recall you saying that you would have bought the candy tin just for the tin. :) I did keep it thinking I will use it, but, I am really, really trying to declutter and I have other tins!
DeleteAs for the books, I am having a hard time letting go of some of them. I have built up quite a collection of books, but, it's time to recognize the fact that I am not likely to re-read them. My daughter is not interested in them and much of the information is now available online.
WOW, Bless you are really going at this bout of decluttering with a tough mindset - well done you! I've been doing some decluttering, looking for things our church girls group can use to sell at their upcoming fund raiser bazaar. I'm enjoying the empty spaces & the calm it brings. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary-Lou. I'm looking forward to feeling that sense of calm a decluttered house will bring me. Right now, it's a bit emotional! But, yes, I am determined to see a difference!
DeleteYou are being very consistent with your decluttering efforts. While we have plenty to declutter here, I've been working with my father-in-law who is trying to declutter - sort of. So if he has any inclination that he wants to get rid of something or sort through something, I jump on it. Last visit, he said he had a couple of boxes of old frames in his attic he wanted to get rid of, so we brought them home. It turns out that in one of the boxes, many of the frames contained old photos and documents. I've been trying to sort them out, scanning some of them and asking others if they are interested in them. We will be returning a less full box to my FIL to see what he wants to do with the things. Last time before that, I went through a buffet with him. Once again, I sorted things, took what he didn't want and donated them to proper places.
ReplyDeleteThank you, June. I feel that the time is right for me to declutter.
DeleteThat is very kind of you to help your father-in-law with his decluttering efforts and making sure that the decluttered items are donated to the proper places. It's a lot of work, I'm sure.
My mother had cookie cutters just like yours. One of my nieces has them, and uses them at Xmas with her two young children. They have fun, particularly decorating the cookies! It's nice to pass them along to someone who will enjoy them .
ReplyDeleteOh, that's lovely that your mother's cookie cutters were passes down to a niece who uses them with her young children. I still have a few other cookie cutters and my daughter has her own collection. The ones I decluttered are the ones she didn't want.
DeleteOops, I think my comment went as anonymous (about cookie cutters)!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Celie. Yes, your comment did appear as anonymous. :)
DeleteI am just so impressed with what you are achieving this month, especially since you decluttered a lot of items already last month. I am progressing slowly but gathering a little momentum now. I have over 50 for this month so far.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bushlady. I might be getting a little "decluttering fatigue" or, at least "decluttering decision making fatigue", but, I'm pushing through!
DeleteYou're doing well with your decluttering, especially since you couldn't declutter during the first 10 days or so of the month.
You are doing really well! Every little bit helps - that's my motto!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon. Sometimes it feels a bit like one step forward and two steps back, but, it's starting to make a difference!
DeleteOhhh it sounds like space is being made on the bookshelf for some Entertainment Unit items.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple books from visiting various European museums that have made all of the cuts. And that's saying something. lol
Yes, space has been made on the bookcase for some of the items from the entertainment center. Souvenirs fall into a separate category from other items, don't they? :)
