Saturday

Fabric Face Masks
Today, I was able to sew six face masks, with the 1/4 inch elastic that I had.  I called friend S and offered to bring them to her, but, she didn't want me to leave the house!  She said she will come by, tomorrow, to pick them up.  She asked me if I needed any groceries, but, I said I had plenty.  M, too, texted me to say that he was waiting in line at the grocery store and asked if he could pick up anything for me, but, I said no, I was fine.  I've plenty of groceries for now.

Yellow Roses
Breakfast was a banana!  Later, I had the last of the rice and curries that S brought me, for lunch.  Dinner was a scrambled egg and baked sweet potato rounds.  I feel stuffed!  After dinner, I ran the dishwasher.

Pink Roses
My rose bushes are starting to flower.  I don't have as many rose bushes as I used to have, but, those that are remaining are doing their best to bring some color to the garden.

Double Colored (one of my favorites)
Today, I am grateful for:
- My fabric stash
- My sewing machine
- M asking if I needed anything from the store
- Being able to sew the masks for my friend
- Video chatting with my daughter

Today's joyful activity was chatting with my daughter.

Plans for tomorrow include sewing more masks.

How was your Saturday?  What are your plans for Sunday?

  1. Your roses are gorgeous... beautiful bright colours to cheer up a garden.

It's comforting to know that friends are thinking of you and considering your well-being at a time like this, isn't it?

I like the material you're using for the face masks.

    1. Thank you, Eileen.

Yes, it is. It's a blessing to have kind and caring friends.

Thank you; it's fabric that I had been given by a former neighbor. I had it in my stash and I've been trying to use it up!

  2. Your roses are lovely - the double colored rose is really special.
But they all are really pretty.

I have a very shady yard but last year I saw a rose bush that was 50% off so I bought it and put it in a spot that gets pretty good sun for the most part.
I am happy to see it leafing out this spring and am looking forward to seeing it's flowers.

    1. Thank you, Debra. I'm glad to hear that your rose bush is leafing out! I'm sure it will flower a bit later and you'll be happy you planted it. Do you know what color or will that be a surprise?

    2. Pink - a bright pink :)
It's one of the Knock Out Roses which are easier to grow then others - at least that's what I've heard.

    3. Pink is a good color for roses. :) I hope your rose bush grows well and rewards you with lots of flowers!

    1. Thank you, Andrea. Yes, it's kind of my friend to say she'll come and pick up the masks. I would have been fine with taking them to her, though, as I wouldn't have got out of the car, but, had her take the masks from the trunk of my car. My car needs to be driven, or, at least, started! But, otherwise, I am staying home and not going out, at all!

    1. Thank you, Jan. Yes, a sewing machine and a fabric stash can help us spend many hours doing something fun and useful during these troubled times. Thank you for stopping by and commenting. :)

  5. What gorgeous roses! I read your reply to my earlier comment about eating them and of course I remember now that rose petals can be used for flavouring and I think there is even a rose petal jam! I remember lots of rose-based products in Bariloche, Argentina and also in Bulgaria. I prefer the perfume on the rose itself, not so much in handcream or soap, but pot-pourri is not so bad if there are other scented petals and leaves included.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. We use rose essence and rose syrup, quite a bit, in our sweets. One year, my rose jelly didn't set and I used it as homemade rose syrup for faluda. :)

  6. I have to go raid Mom's fabric stash. She has drawers filled with everything imaginable and I know I can find some cotton for masks.

  7. Your masks are very pretty, and your roses are just gorgeous. I think your favourite rose is a Peace rose. My mom could grow roses like nobody's business and she loved her Peace roses. They are stunning; however, I can't seem to grow roses to save my life.

    1. Thank you, Susan. The rose is either a Peace rose or a Double Delight. I know I used to have several Double Delight bushes at one time. I didn't save the name tags, so, have no idea what is what, anymore!
