Relaxing on Sunday

Osteospermum in Bloom

I slept in, this morning, and had a very relaxed morning.   Aunt C called and we chatted for a bit and then, neighbor T called.

Today, I picked some osteospermum flowers for the altar.  The plants in the front are all full of flowers.

Then, I did a tiny bit of tidying up: the dresser drawer where I keep my scarves, the nightstand where some books had piled up, the floor of my closet, etc,, gave Dancer his flea prevention medication, and practiced the piano.

In the afternoon, friend R called and I asked her if she'd like to visit the Japanese garden, again, as they are having an event featuring Japanese music, next Sunday.  She said she wouldn't mind going, so, that has been written down in the calendar.

Later, I did some scrapbooking, redoing some pages where the pictures had been removed for one of daughter's school projects.  Some pages had one or two photos removed, some had only one photo remaining, and a few had all the photos removed!  I redid a few pages and put the old pages in the recycling bin.  I am using only the papers I have in my stash and don't plan on buying anymore, unless I absolutely have to in order to finish this project.  I also made a conscious decision to leave the scrapbooking supplies out on the dining table until tomorrow.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Phone calls from family and friends
- Garden flowers
- Being able to preserve memories by scrapbooking the photos
- A relaxed day
- Video chatting with my daughter

My joyful activity today was scrapbooking.

Tomorrow is a holiday, here (Presidents' Day), but, every day is a holiday for me now that I am retired!

Monday's To Do List:
- Clean the fridge
- Take trash cans to the curb for Tuesday trash pick up
- Water the garden, front and back
- Continue to scrapbook
- Cook a fish curry
- Practice the piano

How was your Sunday?  What are your plans for Monday?

My excitement for today? Sorting out a huge pile of crisp packets to be recycled. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

    1. It was a nice, relaxed day. I have about another 20 or so pages to re-do. I think I should be able to do about 10 or so pages, today. I am not doing any fancy layouts or a lot of embellishments, etc. My aim is to get the pages to look complete with fewer pictures so I can get the finished pages into the scrapbook and call this project done!

    1. It is definitely spring here, Natalia. I'm sure your spring will be lovely, too, when it does arrive. I'm sure you look forward to it after a cold winter. :)

  4. What a gorgeous drift of colour across the front of the house. That must be a traffic stopper.

I also spent my Sunday doing some "scrap booking". I was working on finishing one of my mini scrapbooks....not actually arranging photos yet, but the actual construction of a book. What remains now is the hinge assembly and putting on the covers.

I am intrigued by your plans to visit the Japanese garden next week. I remember it being a beautiful place and wondering what the event with Japanese music will be like.

    1. Thank you, Susan. Yes, last spring, those flowers were a traffic stopper! People driving by would slow down or, sometimes, stop to admire them. :)

I like the sound of your mini scrapbook. I hope you'll share pictures of it when you are done.

I'm looking forward to the visit to the Japanese garden. I think the cherry trees might be flowering, too. According to their website, there will be traditional Japanese instruments being played and Japanese dancing. I assume they'll take place in the pavilion. I will share any pictures I manage to take. :)

  6. I can see you are going to get that scrapbook well and truly finished soon.

Sunday was a lazy afternoon with some puttering, but this morning I got busy and cleaned the stairs and also the basement stairs. I would have liked to use some product on the stairs to the bedrooms but DH was coming and going through the house so I left that for another time. I also dusted upstairs, (except DH's lair), cleaned the powder room, took out the compost and left a peanut in the compost bin for the little vole who goes in there, and did some laundry. Now I've finished my lunchtime coffee I am heading out for groceries.

    1. I hope so, Bushlady! At least, that is the plan!

Wow! You were busy this morning! You did all that before lunch? And you grocery shopped, as well? I'd take all day to do what you did in the morning and I'd be too tired to go grocery shopping, as well. :)

  9. Your garden is doing so well. Sunday was great. I spent some time with a new friend up in the mountains. We walked our dogs together, and I joined she and her husband for dinner. They have a lovely home. Monday was busy and productive.

  10. Your osteospermum look wonderful. I remember last year when you showed us your large swath of them. I didn't know of that flower before that.
I'm assuming they love full sun? Something I'm in short supply of on my little lot but I still may look for a plant or two this spring.

The Japanese garden sounds like a good place to visit again. Is your friend R also retired?

    1. Thank you, Debra. Yes, the osteospermum do like the full sun. But, you could try growing some in a shadier spot and see how they do.

I'm looking forward to visiting the Japanese garden, again. I am hoping the cherry trees will be in flower. No, friend R is still working, so she's available to do things only during the weekends.
