Getting Through Tuesday

Very late, last night, I decided to look for another document that had been listed on the retirement papers.  Strictly speaking, I was not required to produce it, as it was just one of several items I could submit as proof of identity.  I don't know what made me decide that I needed to look for that document at 2:00 a.m.  Except, it seemed urgent that I did so.  So, I looked in the folder with the documents and I couldn't locate it! Oh, no!  Where else could it be?  When did I become this disorganized?  Finally, I had to admit defeat - that document wasn't in the file folder, I must have put it somewhere else, but I will look for it later, because I needed to get some sleep!

This morning, I woke up when the alarm went off, had my coffee, texted with daughter, and made a salad to take for my lunch:

Salad for Lunch
Two types of lettuce (1 red, 1 green), one Mediterranean cucumber sliced, one carrot grated, a handful of grapes, some strawberries cut up, and a handful of raw cashews.  I took the dressing separately and poured it on just before eating.

I brought the large trash cans in before I went to the office and my neighbor T's daughter saw me and came over to chat for a bit.  The company she works for does business with the office where I work, and she was asking me if I had moved to the new building and so forth.

I had a fairly busy day at the office and the day went by quickly.

After I came home, I put away the dried laundry from yesterday and did another load of laundry.

Then, I looked through that folder of documents, again, and, guess what?  The document I was looking for and couldn't find last night was right there!  I guess I must have overlooked it when I checked earlier!  I wasn't so disorganized after all!  Probably need better reading glasses, that's all!

Later in the evening, I cooked dinner.  I made a curry with a package of frozen meatballs, sauteed  green beans, and rice, of course, and had it with some of my homemade tomato chutney:

Dinner: Rice, Meatball Curry, Green Beans, Tomato Chutney
Cousin P called in the evening.  The aunt whose husband died last month, suffered a stroke earlier today and underwent surgery to remove a blood clot.  She is recovering, but unable to talk, although the doctors think there's a 50-50 chance that she will talk again.  My cousin said one of our other cousins had spoken to this aunt's younger daughter, earlier in the evening.  She and her siblings are going through so much, right now!

Later, I spoke with one of my friends (she had called while I was on the phone with my cousin, so I called her back) and video chatted with my daughter, although the screens froze, so it was more of an audio chat than a video chat!

Today, I am grateful for:
- Finding my document, after all!
- A sunny, warm day
- A safe commute to the office and back
- Chatting with daughter
- Family and friends

How was your Tuesday?  Do you sometimes look for things and can't find them then, but later, realize it was there, all along?  Or, is it just me?

  1. No, it's not just you. It happens to me all the time and, after turning the place upside down, I usually find whatever I'm looking for in the first place I looked and exactly where it should be! It must hide ... it couldn't possibly be down to me not looking properly 😂

    1. Yes! Things play hide and seek with me, all the time! :) Glad to know it's not just me!

  2. Your salad looks good and pretty. I'm glad you found your document. And to prove you were thorough and reliable after all! I did that recently with my postage stamps. I just bought them and thought I dropped one in the store shopping. I looked all over the ground for them and thought they were gone for good. Here (later when I got home I found...) they were just stuck together. Andrea

    1. Thanks, Andrea. I am scatter brained and forgetful, of late! I've too many things on my mind and I'm not doing things with full awareness. So, I keep misplacing things! Glad you found your stamps! I, too, bought a book of stamps, last week, and put them in my wallet - I need to remember to tuck them in my check book! I like to keep the stamps there, so that, whenever I write a check to mail, I have the stamps on hand. I keep more stamps with my box of cards, too, for convenience.

  3. Yes that has happened to me that I go through the folder several times looking for a specific document and not finding it. But more amazingly, I think, is the fact that I KEEP going back to the same folder to look for that document, expecting a different outcome. Isn't that the definition of insanity? Ha,ha. Our sub-conscious minds must know that it HAS to be in that folder. An organized mind would have filed it as such.

    1. Susan, I think it is because I don't necessarily have one place for all my documents. I keep some things in the main file cabinet, but tax returns are in another file drawer, old bank statements are in another drawer, and so forth. I keep trying to thin out the main file cabinet to accommodate all my files, but, I think, the sad truth might be I need to get another file cabinet! The only thing that is holding me back from doing that is, I don't know where to put it!

  4. I hope your aunt will get better and have a full recovery from her stroke or at least one that allows her to be able to do many things.

That salad looks delicious. I need you here to make one for me.

  6. Sending prayers for you Aunt's recovery and her family. I can relate to the paperwork, in fact I think we have gremlins in the house, the amount of things that go missing then suddenly re-appear again after we've spent ages looking for them. Maybe you have a gremlin as well and it was telling you to go to bed instead of dealing with the paperwork ;) xx

Ah, yes! Gremlins! That explains it! :D
