A Tiring Day

It's been a tiring day.  Daughter and I were up till 2:00 a.m., trying to do all the almsgiving preparations and then, this morning, I woke up at 6:00 a.m. to continue with the preparations.  Fortunately, one of my friends arrived at 8:00 a.m. to help me.

But we were ready by 10:30 a.m. and were waiting for the monks to come.  They normally arrive before 11:00 a.m., but this time, due to a misunderstanding/miscommunication, they had been under the impression that we had cancelled the almsgiving due to concerns about exposure to germs (I had called them earlier and said we'll have to cancel if either of them had colds, etc.).   When they hadn't arrived by 11:30 a.m., I called the temple to find out what happened and when they realized that the almsgiving was still on, they said they'll be on their way immediately and they arrived by 11:45 a.m., and the almsgiving proceeded as usual.

I had to leave by 2:00 p.m. to get to downtown by 3:00 p.m. for my injection, so we couldn't relax and linger over our lunch, afterwards.  I dropped my friend off at her home, first, and then, went to the clinic.  Fortunately, traffic was fairly light; I reached the clinic early and got my injection without any delays.

After we came home, both daughter and I took a nap.    Later, I did a load of dishes in the dishwasher and handwashed the rest.  Laundry can wait until tomorrow.

Tomorrow will be a day of rest (more or less).  Daughter is planning to do the rest of the Christmas gifts shopping in the morning.  I have to go for the next injection in the afternoon, but that's all.

Today, I am grateful for:

- Almsgiving proceeding smoothly after the initial hiccup
- Daughter doing so much to help
- My friend's help
- Naps!
- Dishwashers
