Monday Morning

Bright sunshine, today, after yesterday's rain.  Reminds me of my mother's favorite song:  Whispering Hope..."Hope for the sunshine tomorrow, after the shower is gone".

I received a visit from one of my friends and her daughter, last evening.  Her daughter and my daughter are friends, too, so, it was nice for daughter, too.  Friend brought us dinner, which was lovely.

Later in the night, however, I felt a tightness in my right hand, which might have been a sign of mild lymphedema.   No doubt due in part to the amount of salt in the food I've been eating, lately.  I normally don't eat a lot of salt because I have high blood pressure.  I shall now request that whatever food family and friends bring me be salt-free.  I drank a lot of water and kept my hand elevated and the mild swelling abated.

But it upset daughter.  She had been holding up OK, but this was the proverbial last straw and she had a melt-down.  :(  Normally, she hardly ever cries, so, whenever she does, then, it's a big deal.  All her fears, her anxieties, etc. had built up and it all came out.  She's worried for me; unhappy because she has to return to campus tomorrow morning and leave me alone for 2 nights (she'll return on Thurs. night), etc.  We stayed  up for awhile and talked.  I tried to reassure her.  She's undergoing a maturation process unlike any other.

When I first found out my diagnosis, I gave it up to a higher power and I have my faith to sustain me.  My daughter hasn't reached that point, yet, in her spiritual journey.  So, she doesn't have the comfort that trust in a higher power can bring.

I had a good night's sleep.  Daughter stayed up till the wee hours and I'm letting her sleep-in.  She needs the rest; poor thing is all worn out with worry.  Please continue to keep her in your thoughts.

  1. Poor girl. She must be very stressed out. I'll keep her in my thoughts as I do you.

  2. It sounds like your daughter really needed to have a good cry to get all out of her system that she has been stressing about so far. It must be hard for her, but hard for you, too, having to be strong for both of you at this time. But that's what you have been doing like all moms. You are both in my thoughts. ((((Hugs))))
