Today, I went back to work for the first time since my surgery, almost 2 weeks ago. I had no problems with driving the 20 miles there.
Most of my co-workers were at an all day training workshop away from the office, but the few who were in the office, including my supervisor, were happy to see me back. I spent most of the morning responding to the 60+ emails and the few voice mails that were waiting for me.
During my morning break, I went to the pharmacy to pick up my medication refills, a box of face masks, and to get my flu shot. Now my left arm is sore from the flu shot!
I had planned to put in a regular, full day, but, around 11:30 a.m., my supervisor told me to go home at noon! She said that I could work from home for the rest of the afternoon and tomorrow, too! I resisted the urge to insist that I was OK, I could work in the office for the rest of the day. Instead, I finished processing the last few emails, gathered up some documents to work on at home and drove myself home again! Who am I to argue with my supervisor? :D I do have one of the best supervisors. I must say that it was pleasant to work at home. My sofa is more comfortable than my office chair!
Today, I received the insurance authorization for the echo cardiogram. I will call tomorrow to schedule the appointment. Another step up the mountain!
Tomorrow, the street in front of my house is being repaved. It will be closed from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. So, if we need to drive our cars during the day, we need to move them out of the garages and driveways and park along the neighboring streets. I will need to go to the airport at noon, tomorrow, to pick up my daughter (yes, she's coming home again, for the weekend!) I guess I'll be getting up early to move the car.
Today, I am grateful for:
- A safe commute to work and back
- A warm welcome from the few co-workers who were at the office
- A kind, sympathetic supervisor
- Being able to work from home as needed
- A cooler day
How was your day, today? Did you have a pleasant day?

Your supervisor sounds lovely and the work on the road sounds like a nuisance! Sybil xxx
ReplyDeleteYes, she is lovely. The road work is inconvenient, but needed. I got up at 5:30 a.m. and moved the car! Thank you for stopping by and commenting. :)
DeleteI'm glad you had a good day back at work and are able to work from home. Bet that feels great.
ReplyDeleteMy day was great. Little Wolf had his appointment with his Urologist and it went great. His reflux is gone and he no longer has to take medicine everyday.
Jess, what wonderful news about Little Wolf! I am so happy! I know you must be very thankful.
DeleteIf appropriate, please pass on my 'thank you' to your supervisor who sent you home at noon and suggested you work from home. I hope DD is using a credit card that gives points for mileage or the type that gives 5% rebates as she'll soon earn a free trip. Good that she has no fear of flying. Who could have imagined this change in circumstances!
ReplyDeleteYour photo demonstrated one method of pomegranate access. For those confronting this task for the 1st time, they could use a sharp knife to slightly cut into the hard shell about half an inch down from the stem, all around. 2nd, wiggle fingers into the slit created and jiggle to work off that 'cap.'
You'll see there are 7 segments of cream colored division which is easily pierced with the tip of a small, sharp, paring knife. Just as you'd segment an orange, use finger to upend the pom over a bowl forcing the seeds from the shell. Alternatively, upend the fruit over a bowl and bang the shell with a wooden spoon as though you were beating a drum. Really fun and gets out any latent aggression [haha]
Hon, I will certainly tell her thank you from you. :)
DeleteYes, DD is getting points for mileage and she has already earned and used a free flight! She does have a fear of flying, which makes her almost weekly flights an act of personal bravery undertaken only out of love.
Great tips on how to cut a pomegranate and remove the seeds. Thank you.
I like your supervisor - what a blessing to work for someone like that! So glad you are making progress and still climbing that mountain! Enjoy your day working at home!
ReplyDeleteOh, by the way, is your daughter coming home? haha. :) Enjoy your time with your precious young lady!
Dawn, it is a blessing to have good supervisors and co-workers. I guess I must enjoy working where I do. I've been there for just over 32 years! Not sure if I mentioned it - but yes, my daughter is home for the weekend! LOL!
DeleteSo happy that your supervisor and workers were so nice to you, and happy you listened to supervisor and went home to finish up your work.. please take care of your self and take it easy..
ReplyDeleteProud Daughter is coming home to be with you.. [How terrible that they picked that day to work on the roads, so sorry.]
Judy, yes, I'm blessed when it comes to co-workers and supervisors. Everyone is so kind and caring. The roadwork is a bit inconvenient but it's OK; I'm happy to have a newly resurfaced road. I noticed that some of my neighbors didn't bother to heed the notice - they left their cars parked on the road until well after 7:00 a.m. - the last car was moved only after the road crew arrived!
DeleteLove Honour's idea of banging the pomegranate. I shall have to buy one just to try that!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you resisted the temptation to finish the day, and that you accepted your supervisor's suggestion to work in a more comfortable environment at home. Good to know your DD is coming home again, too. These things reassure the rest of us that you are being taken good care of!
Bushlady
Bushlady, yes, I am being well taken care of. I worked from home today, too, and will do so again on Monday. I haven't tried banging the pomegranates, but it's worth a try! :)
DeleteWhat a blessing to work for such an understanding boss. And to have dear daughter home again for the weekend is so nice! Two blessings! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, two blessings is right, Carolyn.
