On Friday

Chive Drop Biscuits

On Friday, I had a doctor's appointment.  One hour to go to the clinic, one hour at the clinic, and a little over one hour to drive back due to traffic.  I was tired by the time I came home.

In the morning, before I left for my doctor's appointment, my daughter's friend V came over to pick up some peaches and lemons, too.

Also in the morning, my neighbor S called.  They are celebrating her husband's birthday on Saturday and expecting family and friends; could they use my drive way to park their cars?  I said yes.

In the evening, I watered the back yard and picked some chives.  I cut up the chives and made a batch of chive drop biscuits.

My brunch had been bread with dhal.  For dinner, I went off the meal plan and we had "breakfast for dinner" - scrambled eggs, sausages, and chive biscuits:

Breakfast for Dinner

On Friday, I was grateful for:

- A safe drive to the clinic and back
- Access to medical care
- Health insurance
- Being able to share garden fruits with friends
- Working appliances

Friday's joyful activities included spending time in the garden.

Plans for Saturday include accepting a delivery of groceries, going to the pharmacy to pick up my medications, and doing some housework.

How was your Friday?  What are your plans for Saturday?

  1. Good Morning, Bless!! I was led from Nana Diana's sweet blog to come say Hello and I hope you have been enjoying as wonderful a Spring (chilly here, and damp today) as we've had here in the heartland. My backyard looks like those vast KUDZU tapestries of the hills back in my childhood home.

I smiled at your list of blessings (You've got PEACHES!!) We still have several quarts of the gorgeous goldies from year before last, hoarded like gold, when we all met the PEACH TRUCK in a parking lot and loaded up FOUR of those big heavy boxes---one for each of the kids in town and two for us. It was a bright novelty, with us standing expectantly as the fragrant boxes were loaded into our cars.

Only ONE of your blessing can I not claim---the house seems overrun with outsiders 'fixing" or repairing or delivering a new something that gave up the ghost. Just in the last year, we've had the Washer out, the oven (same week), a whale of a plumber problem, and we had to have the WHOLE HOUSE re-wired in August (1959 little subdivision of small ranches) and at the moment, the big tank is in my driveway for the sidewalk-and-patio washing crew.

And for my Easter gift, Leah had the whole upstairs kitchen sink replaced, sink, faucets and insinkerator. I'm on a first name basis with LOTS of guys with their names on their shirts.

Just a little catch-up wandering---hugs from the Heartland!

    1. Hi Racheld, lovely to hear from you again. :) Sounds like you've been really busy getting repairs and renovations done, appliances replaced, etc. Yes, I have an early bearing variety of peaches and the fruit ripens before the heat of the summer cooks them on the tree! We picked the rest of the peaches today.

  2. I hope all went well at the doctor. The drop biscuits look good. I bought a couple of peaches at the grocery this morning, I hope they finish ripening before going bad! Those cocktails you made look delicious!

    1. The doctor's appointment went well, Celie, thank you. I received an injection to increase my bone density and a check up.
I prefer drop biscuits to the kind where you roll and cut the dough; I had some with butter for my brunch, today; followed by fresh peaches. :)
I hope your peaches ripen soon. Maybe try putting them in a brown paper bag - that's supposed to help speed up the ripening process. I like unripe peaches, sliced and sprinkled with a mixture of salt and chili powder. It's how we used to eat unripe mangoes. :) We enjoyed the mocktails. :)

  4. Guess who else had breakfast for dinner tonight? Something else was planned but we were too hungry to take the time to fix it. Eggs to the rescue!

  5. Your breakfast-for-dinner looks delicious. I have some chives growing in my garden, after I 'liberated' some from work :), so I might try and make myself some chive drop biscuits.
I hope your appointment went well. X
