November Grocery Shopping - Week 1

I ordered and picked up groceries, today (Wednesday).  After missing out on some deals, earlier, possibly because I waited too long to order groceries and supplies ran out, I made sure to order what I wanted on the first day of the sales.  I needed milk and half & half.  Condensed milk was on sale for even less than before, so, I decided to stock up on that, too.  Chips were on sale this week on a multi-buy offer and, since daughter's favorite Cheetos weren't on sale, we went with chips.  In addition, I wanted some fresh fruit.

I bought:

- For daughter putting away the groceries for me
- For weekly deals and sales

Have you grocery shopped for November, yet?

  1. You got some good deals there, but things are so expensive! I haven't been good about doing menus, but I am going to start again next week. I have found a couple of deals lately on meat for husband and son so that will cut down on costs

    1. Thank you, Sharon. Yes, things are expensive unless there are good deals. I've been watching some videos people have posted about their grocery shopping trips and the prices they are paying. I'm glad you found some good deals on meat for your husband and son. I've been looking at the price of beef, lately, and it is so expensive!

  2. I saw cinnamon graham crackers on your list. I haven't had those in a long time. I think those will go on my list for our next shopping trip. :)

    1. Yes! I bought a box of cinnamon graham crackers after years of not buying any! I used to love snacking on them and then, I stopped! But, I've plans to make something next week and I need graham crackers for it. Store brand was a little cheaper than the branded ones. I hope you enjoy your graham crackers when you buy them. :)

  3. You have a nice amount left for the rest of the month including Thanksgiving. I understand right now Walmart is offering the makings of a Thanksgiving meal 10 people for 40 ish dollars.

    1. Thank you, Anne. Yes, I am planning to host Thanksgiving this year, too, and I would like to be able to do so while keeping to this month's budget.
I read that Aldi, too, was advertising a similar deal for Thanksgiving dinner and I watched a video where one person took Aldi's shopping list and shopped according to the list (she came pretty close to the estimated price, but, noted that things like butter and a few pantry staples were not included in the total cost of items.
I checked the Walmart shopping list for a Walmart near me and they were out of turkey, potatoes, cranberries, etc., already!

    2. If we were going to be in town for Thanksgiving I would probably use Aldi for the meal just because it is easier to shop there. (I might buy it and save everything for Christmas anyway)

    3. I think buying the sale items now and keeping it for Christmas is a very good idea, provided you have the freezer space for a turkey.

  4. I like the idea of cinnamon graham crackers. I don't think I've seen them in our area. You have some good deals there.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. I used to enjoy cinnamon graham crackers at one time, but, I haven't bought any in years! I wanted them for something I am planning to make and decided to buy a box. No doubt daughter and I will enjoy snacking on the rest of the crackers. :)

  5. I also love ordering and picking up curbside groceries. I think we have less waste as I think more about what I'm buying. Somehow sitting comfortably at your computer and adding items to your cart seems more organized, then running up and down each isle in the store. Though I never have coupons, as we stopped getting the newspaper several years ago, is that where you get your coupons from? You did well with that much of a reduction in the prices. I'm enjoying visiting everyone on my blog list to catch up, as I've been away from blogging for too many months and it's nice getting back into it.

    1. Hi Sandy, lovely to hear from you, again. I had noticed that you hadn't blogged in a while and I wondered if everything was okay with you. I'm glad to see you are back to blogging.
Yes, I like to order groceries on line as I find it easier to shop the list. I don't get a newspaper, either. The store I order from issues what they call digital coupons and other coupons, as well, with a store loyalty card. I "clip" them by clicking on the coupons and then, shop for the items. I try as much as possible to shop only the items that are on sale that week, plus things like milk and bread and a few other things that I need. So, I'll stock up on things when they are on sale and wait for the next sale to stock up again. :)

  6. That sausage looked like an excellent deal - nearly half price and if it's the good stuff then it will go into all sorts of dishes. You got some great coupons.
Sometimes it seems like there's all sorts of skill and trickery in watching for all the good sales and coupons and then using up every scrap. You do it excellently.

    1. Thank you, Lyssa. This sausage is something both my daughter and I like. I wait for it to go on sale and I buy a couple of them and keep in the freezer.
One really has to keep track of the prices and the deals and then, shop the deals very carefully. They make you work for the deals!

  8. That's good you had the sale to stock up on your chips because without it, isn't it crazy what they cost?
    Nice price on the eggs.
Your budget is nice and plump after last month's carryover. Do you have a separate fund for Thanksgiving purchases?
Not that it's an expensive meal to prepare for as turkey is so deeply discounted.

    1. Thank you, Debra. Yes, I wait for the sales on chips and soda, etc., because I would hate to pay full price for them! I was very happy with the price of eggs. Even the regular price is not too bad, considering what it was earlier in the year!
I do not have a separate Thanksgiving fund, but, I think it will work out fine. I am still not sure if I am hosting Thanksgiving dinner or not! If I am, then, I will buy a turkey; if not, if it is just my daughter and I, I'll get a chicken, I think. :)
