| Afternoon Tea |
Daughter held her afternoon tea party for her friends on Sunday. She had invited them to arrive at 1:30 p.m.
Daughter made the sandwiches in the morning. I especially liked how the the cucumber sandwiches looked while she was making them:

I helped her with arranging the food on the plates and doing the last minute preparations including picking chives for the cucumber sandwiches, ironing the table cloth, for the coffee table, picking fresh flowers for the vase, etc.
One friend arrived just before 1:30 p.m. and the friend whose birthday they were celebrating arrived shortly after 1:30 p.m., which was fine. I stayed in the family room while they sat in the living room and chatted and enjoyed their tea.
Then they moved to the family room/crafts room to work on their craft project and I retreated to my bedroom, where I knitted and watched some online videos.
They put together a "book nook" from a kit that one of the friends had gifted to my daughter. It depicts a train (No. 315) on a bridge over a river with cherry blossoms:

It's hard to tell from my pictures, but, there are two people on board the train!

| So Detailed! |
It took them hours to assemble the book nook! At one point, I suggested to daughter that she ordered a pizza or something for dinner, but, her friends didn't want anymore food as there were leftovers from the tea and daughter gave them some of the leftovers to take home, too.
- The sound of laughter as daughter and her friends enjoyed each other's company
- A lovely day all around

What a delightful afternoon. The tea looks charming and they did a brilliant job on the Book Nook.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Angela. They certainly had fun. :)
DeleteThat looks like such a perfect tea party and it sounds like they had a wonderful day! I love their craft project, it's so cute. I'm so glad all went well. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Martha. It all turned out really well and my daughter and her friends enjoyed themselves. :)
DeleteIt looks and sounds very civilised! Friendships are important; I am glad the birthday girl was celebrated and that they all had a lovely time.
ReplyDeletePS Any updates on the lost doggie?
Thank you, Lady Ella. The girls enjoyed themselves. They've been friends for a long time, now.
DeleteI spoke with neighbor S on Monday and she said the dog did belong to one of my neighbors and she was able to give the dog back to them. They are the same neighbors whose chicken used to be in my yard all the time.
The party neighbors?
DeleteOf course! :D
DeleteThey have had their big tent up since Saturday - their Saturday party wasn't too loud, thank goodness, but the fact that the tent is still up means they are planning to do something either on Thanksgiving or the upcoming weekend.
The tea party sounds like everyone had a lovely time! The table is set so elegantly! That is a lovely book nook. I'd wanted to make one some time ago, and seeing your daughter's reminds me of that.
ReplyDeleteThe tea party was a success! The book nook is lovely, isn't it? I think you would enjoy putting one together. :)
DeleteWhat a nice tea party your daughter gave for her friends. Everything looks delicious! Cali
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cali. It turned out really nicely and everyone enjoyed the afternoon. :)
DeleteA lovely afternoon, and the food looks amazing! Your daughter did a fantastic job, and I'm sure it would have been appreciated.
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued by the book nook. I've never seen anything like that before. Xx
It was a lovely afternoon, Jules, and the food was all very tasty. Most importantly, her friend with dietary restrictions was able to partake of just about everything.
DeleteIf you like to do puzzles and build things, then, book nooks are a fun 3-D puzzle to work on. :)
What a wonderful post. I really enjoyed hearing about all that went into it and how the day unfolded.
ReplyDeleteThat little book nook craft is delightful! As you said, such detail! I think I can see the shadowing in the picture of where the little people are. lol
And the food - oh my goodness. And such nice pictures. I especially like the wide shot which included your sofa and pillows.
Really lovely.
Tell your daughter from me, "You did a good job!"
Thank you, Debra. I will tell my daughter. She put a lot of thought and effort into the tea party and she was tired at the end, but, she enjoyed it, too.
DeleteThe book nook looks wonderful. Daughter actually received two kits of the same book nook, by two different manufacturers, from two friends, in two different years! LOL. They obviously saw the Japanese theme and decided it was meant for daughter! She hasn't assembled the other one, yet.
Ahhhhhh, that's so sweet. A tea party. How nice they were all able to get together and have a nice time. And it sounds like a nice day for you as well. Happy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sandy. Yes, it was a nice get together for my daughter and her friends and I enjoyed it, too. I've known these friends of my daughter since they were in middle school and high school together; they went to different universities, but, stayed in touch.
DeleteWish you, too, a very happy Thanksgiving. :)
I like the first photo, almost like a drone view! The cucumber sandwiches look delicious. Very British part of a tea party!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen those book nook kits and I'm sure making it went better with help.
Thank you, Bushlady. Daughter took the pictures for me. I really liked the cucumber sandwiches. Yes, I think that making the book nook worked well as a group project. :)
DeleteSounds like a fun day! The tea looks lovely. I have thought about doing one of those things like the book nook but they look so difficult and seem like they need patience, which I don't seem to have a lot of these days.
ReplyDeleteI hope you and your daughter have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Thank you, Sharon. It was a fun day and the girls enjoyed themselves.
DeleteIt took them about 5 hours to assemble the book nook. My daughter says if she was doing it herself, she would have done small parts of it at a time and taken several days. You might also do that - work for 30 minutes or so at a time until the entire thing is assembled.
Hanno trascorso proprio un pomeriggio meraviglioso.
ReplyDeleteHi Stefania. Yes, they did have a wonderful time. :)
