A Rainy Monday

Rain Soaked Roses

We had more rain all day, today, on Monday.  I was humming "Rainy Days and Mondays" by The Carpenters, all day.  So far in November, my area has received over three inches of rain since November 13; some other areas have received over 5 inches.  Which is a lot of rain for us.  One year, our annual rainfall for the year was 5 inches!  There's more rain in the forecast for this week.

It's been a bit cooler, too, and last night, we put the furnace on for the first time this season.  We warmed up the house and turned it off when we went to sleep.  I turned the furnace on, again, this evening, too.

Daughter had work today and meetings; I kept myself busy doing a few little things, replying to blog comments, visiting a few blogs, and trying to get myself motivated to do some "real housework" (wasn't successful; need to try harder!).

Brunch was toasted onion bagels with butter or cream cheese.  I put out a package of chicken thighs to thaw to cook for dinner, but, they hadn't thawed enough, so, dinner was something quick and easy - instant tonkotsu ramen bowl, followed by parathas cooked with scrambled eggs and lunu miris.  Grapes for dessert.  I will keep the chicken thighs in the fridge to marinate overnight and cook them tomorrow.  I haven't made my meal plan for this week, but there will be chicken curry with rice or parathas!

Friend R called in the evening and we chatted for a bit, which was nice.  Later, daughter took the trash cans to the curb for me, which was also very nice.

On this rainy Monday, I am grateful for:

- All the rain we are receiving
- A working furnace
- Quilts and blankets on the beds
- Working appliances
- Having electricity to run the appliances

Today's joyful activity was knitting.

Plans for tomorrow include making a meal plan and cooking the chicken curry.

How was your Monday?  What are your plans for Tuesday?

  4. I think doing real housework is vastly overrated! I am more of a hit and miss with a promise to do better next time kind of gal.
I love when your meals include something I am unfamiliar with. It makes me do a deep dive to see what it is and how to make it.

    1. I'm not very fond of real housework, myself, Anne, but, daughter is hosting a birthday tea party for one of her friends this weekend and if I am to host Thanksgiving next week, then, some deep cleaning needs to be done!
I'm glad you are looking into some of the dishes I mention. :) It's fun to share food ideas, isn't it?

  5. I hope the rain is filling up the reservoirs and not all running off. Your garden must be loving it.

    1. I hope so too, June. I know that the County website stated that some reservoirs received over 5 inches of rain. The garden is very happy with the rain. :)

  6. Rain gives the garden such a boost, doesn't it. Your white rose photo is beautiful 😍
I much prefer crafting to housework, Bless, but I need to make more effort to catch up with the Christmas festivities looming!

    1. The rain does give the garden a boost, Angie.
Thank you; the poor rose was drooping from too much rain!
I, too, prefer to craft, etc., to housework, but, my daughter is having some friends over this weekend and I need to get the house in order!

  7. M is certainly going to be very busy after all the rain you've been having! I know what you mean about the housework. I usually have my cleaning day the day after I watch my grands, but today I've just been too tired and would rather be here catching up on blogs instead. The cleaning will be there waiting for us when we're ready.

    1. M transplanted some kale seedlings when he was here, today. More rain is in the forecast, so, we'll wait until next week to tidy up the garden.
I used to have a fairly good cleaning schedule in place, but, it got disrupted when daughter moved back. I need to get back on the schedule! I'd be exhausted if I had two little tornadoes running through my house, too! Take a rest day and do the cleaning later!
