Garden Flowers on Friday

White Iris

Friday was a stressful day, trying to "close the stable door after the horse has gone" as my mother would have said!  I made a couple of phone calls and tried to put a freeze on my credit with the three major credit bureaus and found the whole experience to be stressful.  Even their customer service people were not very helpful, with me telling one of them that I was logged into my account and him telling me that my account had expired!  Eventually, my daughter helped and to put a credit freeze in place (I honestly don't know what I would have done without her!  She is such a blessing!)

Light Pink Rose

I spent some extra time out in the garden, trying to destress by looking at the flowers and doing some weeding.  We have some new roses:

And the first chrysanthemums of the season - this is one of the plants that M rescued a couple of years ago.

Purple Chrysanthemums

I love the color!  I must remember to set up some stakes around the chrysanthemum plants, so that they don't flop over as much as they did, last year!

The dogbane/scaredy-cat plant is in full bloom, now:

I think I will be taking some cuttings from the plant after it has finished flowering and plant them in other areas of the garden, as well.  The bees love these flowers!

Close Up

M was here in the evening and he thinned more of the peaches and watered the garden for me.

Brunch was the last of the leftover spaghetti.  Dinner was "breakfast for dinner" - pancakes and sausages.  Snacks included a bowl of pomegranate seeds:

On Friday, I was grateful for:

- My daughter
- Her help with placing the credit freezes
- M's help with the garden
- Having a garden
- Garden flowers

Friday's joyful activities included spending time in the garden, enjoying the flowers and listening to the bird songs.

Plans for Saturday include some housework and maybe baking.

How was your Friday?  What are your plans for Saturday?

  1. I love your white iris photo. We have a large print of Van Gogh’s “Irises” hanging in our living room. That’s the one with all the blue and a single white iris, like yours. I’m glad you’re surrounded by beautiful flowers.
So sorry to hear that you have to go through a credit freeze. It’s best to be proactive when you don’t know the extent of data breaches. I’ve dealt with the issue several years ago and it was very time-consuming. I didn’t find the professionals at financial institutions be very sympathetic or helpful. I hope things improve and this will be the end of it.

    1. Thank you, Taconix. The white irises were a gift from gardener M - another client wanted them taken out of his garden and M rehomed some of them in my garden!
Thank you, too, for the sympathy about the data breach and all what that has entailed. I get overwhelmed when faced with such things and stressed!

  2. So glad your daughter could help you. What gorgeous flowers, and like you I love the colour of the chrysanthemums. I like the photo of the dogbane with the cheeky little California poppy photo-bombing it!

    1. Thank you, Bushlady; daughter has been so helpful! I really don't know what I would have done without her! Our roles frequently change when such things happen!
The flowers are lovely, aren't they? The dogbane and the California poppies are all growing together, side by side. The poppies have invaded what used to be a vegetable bed, where I grew snowpeas and broccoli, last year!

  3. We have freezes with the three main reporting agencies. Some of them are easier to deal with than others. I think time in the garden is just what you needed. It is looking very pretty these days.

    1. Thank you, June; hopefully, everything will be OK, now. Time in the garden was just what I needed! I was out there, again, today, just listening to the birds (there was one mockingbird who had a lot to say!) and checking on the flowers. :)

    1. Thank you, Stephenie. It was the first time I've put a freeze on my credit. I'm biased, of course, but, yes, I do think my daughter is wonderful! :) Some of her colleagues think so, too, and have nominated her for an employee award for the second time. :)

  5. My iris has just started blooming too. Everything is weird this year after a cold, wet winter/spring. That purple chrysanth is beautiful! I don't know why anyone would throw that away. I'm glad M salvaged it and rehomed it in your garden.

    1. Irises are beautiful, aren't they? As for the chrysanthemum, one of M's clients had a Halloween party in her garden, one year, and potted mums in bronze and purple were part of the table decorations. After the party, she just tossed them all in the yard waste bin; M found them a few days later and rescued them! He brought me about 7 or 8 of them, all rather wilted, but about 6 have survived to flower another day! :)

    2. I recall that story. I just think it the most tremendous waste... At least offer to friends t take home, or leave by the road, or put aside intentionally for M... Luckily he found them anyhow and they survived.

    3. The lady probably didn't even realize that the potted mums could be planted in the ground to grow! I'm glad that M was able to rescue the plants and that he shared them with me. :)

  6. What an upsetting thing to have to deal with. I'm so glad your daughter has been able to help you get through all of it.
Your chrysanthemums are a really nice color and I love your white iris
