November Rose |
Another sunny day with an afternoon high of 73F.
It's been a good day, today. A friend of mine called in the morning and we chatted for a bit. Later, I called friend R and spoke with her.
M got delayed at the dentist's office, but he eventually showed up around noon and tended to the garden. He brought me a persimmon someone had picked from their tree and given him and he brought me a cutting of a sedum which he potted up so it could root. We transplanted my apple seedling and pineapple plant to bigger pots and cut back one of the oleander bushes. I offered him a bowl of soup, but, he had another garden or two to do and was running behind schedule, so didn't want to take the time to stop for soup. Nor did he want it sitting in his truck all afternoon until he got home in the evening.
After M left, I did the rest of the vacuuming. Then, I did the last bit of paperwork that I had planned to do, cleared the files from the dining table. and put my autumn leaves table cloth on the dining table. After that, I tidied the family room and dusted it. Tomorrow, I plan to wash the sofa dust sheets.
Then, I put together a grocery order, but, I haven't finalized it yet. I want to discuss the order with my daughter, first, when we video chat tonight, as there might be one or two things she might want (besides half and half for her coffee!)
Brunch had been coconut roti with some of the corned beef mixture I had made; dinner was rice and the made over chicken stir-fry. Grapes and a piece of brownie for dessert.
Today, I am grateful for:
- Another sunny day and warm afternoon
- M tending to the garden and sharing a sedum cutting with me
- Roses in November
- Phone calls and emails from friends
- What I was able to accomplish
Today's joyful activity was gardening with M.
Plans for tomorrow include picking up the groceries, washing the sofa dust sheets, remaking my daughter's bed with fresh sheets, and tidying my bedroom, especially the desk and the top of the dresser ("Hi, my name is Bless and I can't keep horizontal surfaces cleared.")
How was your Saturday? What are your plans for Sunday? How do you keep your table tops, counters, etc., free of clutter?
We are long past rose season here, so I appreciate the picture of your rose. If you want to form a club of people who can't keep horizontal surfaces clean, you'd have a lot of members including me. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the picture of the rose, June. Ha, ha, yes, maybe we should have a C(an't) K(eep) H(orizontal) S(urfaces) C(lean) Club! You'd be the honorary first member! :D
DeleteWe both chose photos of roses today! Yours is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWell done on another productive day. It's a lot colder over here, only 11ºc today so I've envious of your weather ... I don't like the cold!
Will you be making some fresh brownies for Jennifer when you go to collect your grocery order?
So we did! I really liked your red rose, too. :)
DeleteThank you! I need to be productive this afternoon, too, and then, I can relax a bit!
It's sunny and warm, today! Currently 75F (at 1:45 p.m.) and expected to go up to 78F later in the afternoon! Almost summer! I wish I could send you some of our warmth!
I was wiser, this time around! I called ahead to ask if Jennifer would be there, today, and spoke with Eric, who said that Jennifer was off today. I'll try to catch her on another day.
Oh how lovely to get a persimmon straight from the tree! Around this time of year in Japan they were everywhere - either in boxes on the street or left outside your door every time you got home. It used to amaze me that the shops sold them ... I can't imagine who was buying them! Well done on continuing your blitz. Anticipating daughter's homecoming must be nice. Hope she thinks of some good additions for the shopping list!
ReplyDeleteIt's a treat to have a persimmon straight from the tree! I've kept it to get ripe and soft. Not all the stores sell them here. That must have been fun to come home and find a persimmon on your doorstep!
DeleteThank you! I'm trying to get the house tidied before my daughter gets home! LOL. Not that she'll say anything, but, because I want it to be so.
Yes, I wanted to ask her if she wanted the bag of mandarins that were being advertised, 3 lb. bag for $2.99 and she said yes. She also said she's bringing down some cucumbers she had bought, intending to make a pickle (she bought some pickle seasoning mixes from Daiso) which she didn't make yet, so, I took off the cucumber I had listed on the order. :)
Not just one! Bagsful! 🙃
DeleteOh, wow! How wonderful!
DeleteI can see you are going to be ready in good time to celebrate Thanksgiving, with all your work achieved so far. I love your 'Clutterers Anonymous" statement. Mine would refer to the scraps of paper with notes on. Having my new cleaner come made me take a good look at my clutter! I like to make it easier for a cleaner to work.
ReplyDeleteI'm spending most of the afternoon with my feet up after being in church this morning. I'm finally smartening up and recognizing that if I don't do this for part of the day, I have pain at night.
Thank you, Bushlady; that is the plan - to have the house ready for Thanksgiving week. Oh, I, too, have those scraps of paper with notes, people's phone numbers, etc.! That's on my project list to tackle, next! Maybe after Thanksgiving, though!
DeleteI'm glad to hear that you are resting and spending the afternoon with your feet up! I find myself needing to take more breaks than ever before. Hope you have a lovely rest of the day, today. :)
Such a pretty rose. It's especially nice to get a fall rose that's so nice.
ReplyDeleteYou are getting your house all nice and clean and organized. I'm sure your daughter's impending visit has spurred you on. Sometimes we need occasions like that to get our needed tasks done. I think most of us are that way. I know I am.
I think we all need a picture of the dining table with the autumn leaves table cloth you mentioned :)
Thank you, Debra; I need to see if the rose has fully bloomed!
DeleteMy daughter's visit was my motivation to clean the house! She said I am treating her as a visitor, now, rather than a regular member of the household! LOL.
I've been a bit distracted to take and post photos of the table, but, I'll see what I can do, tomorrow, maybe. :)
